As I thought for the last episode, "Idiots Array" split most people down the middle. This weeks episode? I think "Vision Of Hope" might be more up the general Star Wars fans alley. Did we get closure on the Trayvis situation? Is he the real deal? How connected to other Rebels is he?

Well...LET'S GET TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spoilers ahead!

    Last chance!

    What worked for me:

    - Trayvis is an Empire pawn.

    Trayvis and droids.png

Most of us figured this was headed around the bend. It was laid on pretty thick this episode, but in the end it works. The Empire using the Rebel mentality against them is something that will effect all of the Rebels trust factors going forward the rest of the series. Since Trayvis survived, I wonder if the Empire had promised him power in the Senate or something to that effect for acting his part to begin with? Essentially, this betrayal shows how alone our Rebels are in this universe....or should I say Lothal since they never leave the planet....

    - MORE Jedi training.

    Jedi training with saber.png

It's no secret that the best parts/episodes of Rebels have been when they focus on Jedi or the Force in some fashion. Filoni and crew, for whatever reason have a knack for nailing everything that involves these situations. What's interesting about this part of the episode is the fact that like Luke in ESB, Ezra receives visions in the middle of training they knock him out cold...not before he deflects the blaster shots into the target Kanan set up for him. Interesting, that when Ezra was "overwhelmed" by the Force and was shown the visions is only when he succeeded at what Kanan set up for him.

    *side note*
Visions/premonitions appear to only be gifted to random Jedi. Or maybe to Jedi who have little control over the Force? I don't remember many Jedi talking about them throughout the Saga or The Cone Wars...besides the main players like Anakin, Yoda, Ashoka, and Luke. Maybe I'm wrong? I'm sure many of you won't hesitate to let me know if I am. :)

    - Kallus is his own man

    Kallus.png

Kallus tells the Prime Minister what's up when he essentially ignores the Inquisitor's wishes regarding capturing the Rebels. Kallus hasn't been featured that much since "Droids in Distress" and I thought we would see him a little more than we have been shown this season, which is a shame. Kallus is an interesting villain and I REALLY want to see what would happen if he got into a lightsaber battle with Kanan using the Bo-Rifle. I also think there is more than meets the eye regarding his character as well...

    - Another notch in the belt of Ezra's emotional journey

    Ezra Lightsaber.png

It's a simple story that shows how his immaturity gets in the way, but I think this episode when collected with the entire season and (hopefully) end of the series; we will see Ezra become the man/hero we all want him to be. "Vision Of Hope" is just another step (albeit a SMALL step) towards this end game. I think Ezra's journey could be what Filoni wanted to do with his pitch to Lucas in the beginning TCW...take a young main character and have them progress over the course of the series and show their maturity and development as a Jedi. So when we step back and look at the series as a whole, we get to see the evolution of the character with age AND experiance. Of course that character in TCW ended up being Ashoka, but she was hardly the main character. What Ezra and Ahsoka have in common though is their knack for learning the hard way. I don't think it's by accident. What it tell us IMO, is that Filoni is essentially attempting the same journey with Ezra like Ashoka in TCW and we are slowly seeing him mature and learn hard lessons as we go forward. The only difference being Ezra is always center stage unlike Ashoka. My main fear is that Disney won't give Filoni enough time and patience to accomplish it. Time will tell.

    What didn't work for me:

    - *insert any complaint about being stuck on Lothal again here*

    Shuttle.png

*insert 2445454 paragraphs about why we are all VERY tired of being on this po-dunk planet*

    - Ezra can't kill anyone

    Ezra, Kanan .png

First it was his awful laser sling shot....then he created his very cool Staple-Saber which included a blaster. FINALLY, we will get to see Ezra cut loose a little. Nope. That doesn't seem to be the case. His "blaster" is really a "stunner" (Set for stun!) and he's not even close to hitting Stormtroopers by deflecting blaster fire back at them. WHAT GIVES??? Why am I hung on this? It's because everyone else seems to be able to fire at Stormtroopers and kill them....except Ezra. I wonder because of the show's aim at children and Ezra being close to their age if Disney is playing it safe in regards to younger characters promoting violence to kids in general? If that's true would any of you look down on Disney for doing so? The adults have no problem doing it on the show. Food for thought.

    Quick hitters:

I love the droids and the designs of them for this show. More please! This was also the best use of Chopper by far. Both as a crew member and comic relief.

    Droids V.png

    - I wish we had a Zare centered episode. I know that he has his own young reader novels coming out, (I own the first one...haven't read it yet) but I really like the character and think he's worth his own episode without Ezra or the Rebels in it.

    Zare.png

As always I can't wait to read everyone's comments in the thread and hear what they liked/didn't like about the show. "Vision Of Hope" isn't a game changer, but I think it's still crucial to the bigger overall story.

Till next time Star Warriors (This is standard now FYI)

Just watched the Vision of Hope episode and it brought home to me (and my 9 year old son who was the first to voice it) - that these shows are becoming a bit "meh".

We liked the last episode - because Lando. #Lando #Colt45 #ThisDeal - you know. But, I think what's happening (for us at least) is that the "smallness" of Rebels is starting to bring us down.

The Star Wars universe is too small in this show. We're almost exclusively hanging on Lothal - and it's a bloody boring backwater.

This is a cartoon - there are no sets, no locations, no extras, no special effects, etc. etc. - why not enhance the scope of the thing?!? Why are they uprising only on Lothal? Why not running around hitting the Empire where it hurts within their means? Why haven't we visited Coruscant, Bespin, Tatooine, etc. etc.

There's been plenty of time to introduce the characters (which are great) - and develop the interactions/personalities - it's time to kick this up a notch.

    OMFG what a great episode

It's great to see Maketh Tua get more face time. I love [to hate] her.
Any time I see her I'm always reminded of the "relationship" Susan Rayner, the Director of the CIA in the comic "The Boys" shares with Billy Butcher. Heh ;)

Hera was great as always as well.

Their teamwork together was perfect this episode. The show has really improved in leaps and bounds since it started.

It seems a lot of average viewers really don't like Chopper because he's such a homicidal prick. It's exactly for that reason that I love him. But then again my hero is Daffy Duck, so.

It looks like Ezra either used parts of his energy slingshot in his saber or just won't be using it anymore. Now it's apparent that instead of it just being something lame they put in to kiddify the show, it was all he was able to cobble together on his own. Probably used it to target womprats when he was really desperate for something to eat. That's probably why he was always in the sewers. Ew

    Seriously, major spoilers
I really don't get why they didn't take the Senator captive and turn him over to Fulcrum. They couldn't kill him because its a kids cartoon. I get that. Always thought he was a rat from the first time they mentioned him. They *were* getting shot at so I guess they just didn't have time to murder him in cold blood.

BTW Hermann that other Astomech design Chopper had dealings with is in A New Hope

It's interesting to hear that Zare has books of his own coming out. Some on the forum are speculating that he may be Finn's father. It will be interesting to see if he has some link to a character in Episode 7.

I thought this episode was great. As for Ezra being non lethal... is it always necessary to kill? I'm still liking the uniqueness of his lightsaber. The built in blaster. The cool sound it makes when it ignites. I also enjoyed Kanans use of the force in this episode. The fan... distracting the droids like Obi -Wan on the Death Star. Very cool. there are two things I learned this episode. 1. Fulcrum doesn't know everything. 2. Don't trust a rebel unless their last names are Organa, Mothma, Madine, or Ackbar.

That was a good episode but SERIOUSLY... Lothal is annoying 80% of the fans. It's time to move on, Disney. It's a frickin galaxy, it has thousands of millions of planets. Not just Lothal.

I was not crazy about this episode. More background info on Ezra was good, but it feels like the writers are holding back on developing his internal conflicts. Ezra has a seriously rough past, and I know it's a kids show, but I feel like they could make his character a little less goofy.

Hoping we see more of Kallus in the next few episodes. And yes, let's please get the hell off of Lothal. Let's go big! Have them crash land on Coruscant!

I liked this episode. Stayed away from super goofy stuff. Enjoyed the banter between Ezra and Sabine "you know what I smell like?". The twist was obvious to eagle eyed viewers and grown ups, but I bet it was a nice surprise for kids.

With only a few episodes left this season, do you guys see this show building to something? Ezra's still too green to fight the inquisitor. I'm just unsure where the show it going.

Better than the Lando episode, still not great. Few things: "they're gone" trayvis says in regards to Ezra's rents. They could be alive. Zaire is getting deeper into the Empire. Where was he in the original trilogy? Finn could be his son, Last, Ezra has no self control and too much ability. Dark side for sure.

I dig Rebels, I do. I like the buildup and all, but for once, I have to say I need to GET OFF LOTHAL. This whole episode was pretty good, but I felt it lacked the same punch as the others, probably cause I saw it at low quality (360P) instead of 1080P. I like Chopper, Zare's scenes (needs more tbh, but at least its setting up something decent here), Kallus finally felt bad and respectable again, Ezra and Kanan have good interaction, force-wise and people wise, and the mystery surrounding Ezra's parents still remains, and was luckily brought up again. Now, if Rebels wants to keep me hooked, I believe these next few episodes will need to have some true Rebellion interaction, some big changes, or overall finish this season's mystery of Ezra's parents, and make it huge. If this is done, and it they join the Rebellion, or work with other groups (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!), and some TCW connection, then Season 2 is set. I think that this was a great episode, but because this season;s quality has been levels above TCW's, I was expecting a bit too much, but I think Season 2 is being set up really well so far at this rate :D

I have a good feeling we're gonna be leaving Lothal, sooner or later :D

I'd like the fallout of the senator reveal to have far reaching affects such as the Ghost crew seeking out the other rebel cells off-world to let them know he can't be trusted but I think it's just going to be another scene with the Ghost docked with Fulcrum's ship and Hera just telling Fulcrum (in Lothal's orbit of course) because why should you leave the system? What do you think this is? A Space Opera or something?

Wait until the exciting season 2 arc when the Ghost has a coolant tank rupture and is grounded in the grasslands for 8 exciting episodes!

I like Lothal, its very... yellow.
    With nice... grey... buildings.

I'm all set for the upcoming Lothal episodes, cuz there is no color scheme better than dirty grey and faded yellow.

    Nice light episode though.

This can't be a coincidence. There is too much resemblance. Good eye. I'm convinced Trayvis' appearance was based on the old panther.
