Good points. If nothing else, I hang on to the prequels out of nostalgia, and just because they are mostly entertaining / visually interesting. They were really what got me into Star Wars in the first place. I was 3 when Ep. I came out and 6 when Ep. II came out, and used to watch them all the time. If it weren't for the prequels, I'd never have gotten into the original trilogy, I don't think. Or if I had, it would have been much later.

The difference is those are great scenes that are considered classic. I'll give you the point about Leia not getting to properly mourn Alderaan, that's a commonly acknowledged issue with ANH. A difference with that problem though is that it doesn't derail the entire film the way that Anakin and Padme's relationship in AotC does. Overall, the way ANH moves along, you barely have time to notice that particular issue, that is way different than a film that has long and unnecessary scenes that are poorly executed.

As for Han and Leia's relationship, I honestly can't see how someone couldn't see that they are setting things up for further romance down the line, it's incredibly obvious really. If you really wanna talk relationship problems, I'm surprised that you don't mention the obvious one, you know, the creepy incest angle that was introduced when George decided to make Luke and Leia siblings in RotJ. There's a point for the Prequels over the OT for ya, no incest ;).

You don't defend them, you whine. We've critiqued them, analyzed them. We've actually have reasons that can be shown, pointed at. You just complain that we are just haters. You have, in retaliation, bashed the OT when anyone tries to change the PT. You've never once have actually defended the actual quality of the PT. You've never once looked at it critically. When your best defense is "The OT and TFA have flaws," you have failed.
The prequel trilogy is a poorly acted, poorly written, poorly directed, poorly paced set of films.

So have you. I've never come across such hostility in my life. Frankly, I find the tone of the above comment rather disturbing. Aren't you getting rather emotional?

I found the Anakin/Padme scenes depressing, I nearly burned out the fast forward button when they came on both movies.

Yes she is in her own scenes, the only Anakin scene I could stand was the one where she was wearing this. Hot in black.

The sad thing is, Padme is a great character on paper. I like the idea of a principled politician who cares deeply about democracy and freedom, someone who wants peace but will fight when it's absolutely necessary. Those aspects sadly got lost under the awfully executed love story. At least we do get to see more of that side of her character in TCW. A lot of people like to harp on the politics in the Prequels, but I never minded them. They are the least of the problems that those films have IMO.

Errm... I really don't think that's a fitting comparison/description of either at all.

The movie's built around the "mystery plot" - the incoherent stuff that happens when Anakin's away with Padme is a subplot.

And, some "logical problems" in said mystery plot don't =/= "bunch of cool scenes with no progression".

That's some reconstructive fridge logic no one really thinks about when watching - the narrative follows Obiwan, i.e. the "discoverer", the Kaminoans are 3rd person: what they were thinking 10 years ago when agreeing to take a job clearly has nothing to do with the narrative cohesion of the movie.

There's no "explanation", but there's a more accurate plot analysis: the Jedi are suspicious, until the last act when actually using the army comes into play, at which point they're seemingly no longer.

So it's not about what the Jedi aren't suspicious, but why the STOP being suspicious after clearly being so - it's a break in the narrative, probably one of the larger ones.

Aside from the point about the suspicious army (see above^^), all those points are largely correct - however, "the plot", or rather, *the narrative*, isn't built around those events all being planned or predeterined: it's constructed around the attackers leaving traces behind and the protagonist chasing after the clues.

    2) He could've used a blaster and Obiwan could've scanned the jetpack or something - you can always make up something, they just went with the poison dart because it was a cool idea to go with.
    3) Obiwan's got various ways of finding information - that isn't implausible at all (esp. for a movie like this), and no one says Dexter was the only one in the galaxy who knows about it.
His access to / knowledge about information sources is simply shown in the form of... knowing a guy in a bar who's knowledgeble, it could've been anything different as well.

Obiwan already figured it out - he didn't tell them in the hologram due to some writing problems, but it's not like it was a plot point that he didn't tell them and they'd have to "figure it out" therefore.

Well, they know he's evil and in cahoots with Dooku ;)

    Correct, too.

He said "go and visit" - in what's pretty much a scene in the last act, where the Jedi have already stopped beign suspicious.

Well, since their lack of suspicion already wasn't justified, this talk is kinda pointless.

Again - they ARE suspicious, before the last act begins and they suddenly stop being suspicious.

Listing all the reasons they should've been suspicious, is kinda of forgetting that they WERE, for all those reasons (well, except those they'd go on to "find out about" after Kamino).

    Sado Dyas :D

A fanfic I was reading actually made an interesting point that goes along with what you are saying. If in the following phrase:

"Padme is a great character on paper. I like the idea of a principled politician who cares deeply about democracy and freedom, someone who wants peace but will fight when it's absolutely necessary."

we replace Padme with Leia, it still makes sense. The fan-fic what it said was that in certain aspects of his personality, Anakin would be a lot like Han Solo. So what I am saying is that, in paper, Padme and Anakin's love story was sort of modeled to be like Han and Leia's (obviously with a lot of different things between one character and the other: having a relationship between a Jedi knight and a Senator should not be the same like having one between a Princess and a Smuggler, there are different circumstances.) However, some similarities can be seen when watching the personality of Anakin, reckless and adventurous, in TCW for example.

Obviously there were several reasons why it didn't work on Episode II.

I don't see how anything in the relationship from 2 and 3 is similar to anything in the relationship from 4, 5 or 6.
Not how all those are different (and 2 / 6 have several inconsistent dynamics in them), and still none of them match up.

That's the thing, in paper they might have worked (2 and 3), but didn't onscreen. However, by watching TCW I can see there's some damage control to both the relationship between Padme and Anakin and their personalities.

I've not seen TCW, I was just talking about personalities/dynamic and how they aren't similar to those in 4-6.
