SPECULATION Star Wars Episode VIII Teaser

She said she didn't know anything. Then she said she "thought" the release wasn't coming soon. They are not including her in the title and trailer release schedule because that information, those discussions happen among a few people and probably aren't set 100% until right before it happens. That's how secrets stay secret. The powers that be probably know generally when they want to release the title but why put that definite information on paper or declare it in an email to anyone, but they likely haven't even purchased the domain name related to the title because that would tip people off in advance. They can buy a bunch of domain names before the announcement and before people can get wind of that and figure out which ones could be real titles, "BOOM" the title is announced.

There's no way Daisy is in the loop on what the title is at this stage, nor would she have been told when they are announcing. It's just one more person to leak it. Will they clue her in, say, a week in advance? Probably.

She seems like a nice person and is a heck of an actress, but she doesn't know anything about the PR rollout for the title, and said as much.

I don't know why it was reported as anything otherwise.....oh, wait, because "Episode VIII," "Daisy Ridley," and "title" will get clicks and pop up on peoples radar's and reported like news.

I'd say the exact opposite. They have no reason to remind people that Episode 8 is coming over a year in advance, espcially when they have another Star Wars movie coming up that they are promoting this year.

I'm not picking on you personally because almost everyone says something like that. SW fans seem to believe almost universally that E8 promotion before RO has a long theatrical run is a mistake....for a bunch of reasons I've never accepted.

TFA made billions of dollars.

Everyone who is over the age of 3 and saw that movie pretty clearly understands there is a sequel coming. Heck, even if you didn't see the movie and you go online, talk to people, and/or watch TV you knew the movie was a hit and therefore will get at least one sequel.


Does Lucasfilm think a lot of them forgot that a sequel is coming and that the title will be this huge surprise? Of course not.

They publically announced the start of filming, the director has confirmed editing has begun and JW is going to get to work on the score soon.

There have been pretty regular updates on the movie, but the title hasn't been announced. People know this movie is coming and Lucasfilm has kept it in the news regularly.

Rogue One PR rollout continues to build, but if they wanted a huge spike in free publicity for Star Wars in general (especially to get people talking about it in advance of Force Priceday...er, Friday, releasing the title for E8 would certainly do it.

There's this assumption around here that people will get "sick" of SW if they realize more than one will be released every 3 years, or that everyone will get confused about the difference between two movies if they both have "star wars" somewhere in the name, and if they get the slightest bit confused, for even a moment, they will decide to not see either movie and of course never change their mind.

Be clear: Rogue One--prequel.....war movie....almost every character is new......



Star Wars 8: {title here}: sequel...Luke talks!!!......Rey...Kylo...Finn....Poe...all back....so is BB8..
And don't release a teaser until February, which is probably the plan anyway.



They wouldn't have to try so hard to differentiate the two if they hadn't done another Death Star in TFA....or a lot of the other ANH retread stuff, but they did....

Anyway, I don't know how announcing the title confuses anyone who isn't confused by a Star Wars movie that comes out right after TFA with a Death Star (again, sigh), and it isn't the sequel to TFA...which was part 7.

I don't think releasing the title of EVIII in November or December has much upside, but doing it in September does have a lot of benefits.

Also, the longer they go without releasing the title (which I'm convinced has been set) and not releasing any stills/screenshots/etc, the more likely big leaks are to happen. choosing what you want out there is a lot smarter than having something big leak out because you think your security is airtight.

This post claims, the first teaser trailer will be released on December 20th. Four days after R1 hits the theaters? I don't buy into it.

 

KK did state at celebration this is the year of rogue one, ep 8 will get it's turn next year
(it was at that point i knew i was going home ep8 footage free! )

 

Anybody can make a schedule like that and post it.. But, I hope it is true, although I very much doubt it..

Well, KK does almost everything for more $$$ for LF. She has a boss like we all do. If TPTB think releasing the title for E8 in September during Force Friday or during the Labor Day college football game on ESPN (or ABC, like there's a difference at this point) will bring in more money for Disney than if they do it in Feb (when people will be looking for a teaser not just the title) or if they announce the title in December and promise a look at it post RO credits because presales of tickets are soft, it'll happen.

KK isn't some beacon of reliability for the best interests of the fans. She's in charge of the ways to get money from SW fans for Disney.

(I don't think KK is a bad person or someone to be despised or resented. She's just someone we should all see as having a specific job. I'm sure she's nice and all. And SW fans could do much worse than her when it comes to someone who is in charge of LF...look at most pro sports owners for example)

thats what i thought but there are release dates for other movie trailers as well. that makes me think that there could very well be something to this.

 

Let's just wait and see. If this "leak" is true, then we should get a trailer for "Doctor Strange" on 30th September. But I simply doubt it that we will get an SW teaser this year. It's too early.

 

I agree.. If EP VIII still had the May 2017 release date it would seem logical to release a teaser (2) or even an early Tv Spot for EP VIII this December, but when it says December 20, almost a year away from the release of EP VIII I seriously doubt it when they already have an Star Wars movie to both promote and release this year within the next 4 - 5 months. But again lets wait and see, we could be happily surprised. Although I doubt it..

 

Makes sense a teaser with Rogue One.

 

Thank you for that note @pjvader. See guys, another reason not to expect anything this year. And no I dont think that KK is lying, because what she says makes sence from a marketing point of view.

 

It looks like a release sheet for trailers. What i find a little odd is the numbers on the sheet. I have never seen that before.

yes maybe, because there is already confusion with normal moviegoers and where to put Rogue One into the timeline and with a episode VIII trailer/teaser this would lead to more confusion.
