What scale would that be? if it's toys merchandise it's not the same type of trademark. It's lower scale. This one is huge and covers everything, so whatever they have planned with that trademark, it's going to be for something wide ranging.

for me it's not the size of the trademark (it does look like they literally got everything in that suitcase though eh? lol).. it's the timing.

we all know it's coming, they know that we know that it's coming... and unfortunately for them, they have to trademark the sucker.

I hated 'The Force Awakens' when i first heard it was the title.. but it grew on me, so hopefully this will too. it's a bit meh at the moment, but as we know zip about the film.. we have no context.

i think that's the title peeps.

Lol, yes sorry, I misread your question previously. If it is for the title, definitely yeah.

I was going with if it wasn't for a title, you wouldn't need that huge a trademark.

Could be. If it is, Disney will soon let us know before everyone unofficially knows. At least I hope so!

In a way though, I hope it isn't. I would rather have been surprised with the rest of the world so we can all Vhlor about why the title it isn't good enough! lol

They were revealed directly by the creators. That's what he's getting at. It's not going to leak. (Although, based on that Hasbro thing, I'd argue that Rogue One came pretty close to leaking at the time it was labeled Red Five for whatever reason.)

I hope so. I remember TFA being a tweet, but was told USA Today leaked Revenge Of The Sith in May 2004, Lucas responded ''That it was a possibility" to the leak, until November, when he said fans already knew the title and confirmed ROTS.

It's nice and all with the tweet, but no content within. That's all they said, if they knew what it was for, they should have killed it in the egg right away.

    Then, no more rumors...

Back then, leaks like that were ahrd to come by. In fact, I remember exactly where I was when I saw the news and will never forget it. The difference is that it's easier to fake things like "leaks" and whatnot not now

I'm not sure about that. My memory is that those prequel sets were VERY leaky.

You may be right...I was barely 12 at the time ROTS was released so I have the memory through a kid's POV of dreams of star wars and travelling at the time. I kind of think that leaks are pretty good for a movie as long as there are still surprises left

Part of it was that Lucasfilm was much more open. We had regularly released images from set (once a week, I think), along with featurettes on starwars.com. We saw Ep. III Obi-Wan WAY before the movie came out. Same with some of the choreography of the big duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin. But on top of all of that information, we had leaks.

Someone else would have to remind me. But I think we knew the title long before it was officially announced. If that's the case, then I really don't know what Pablo means. :p

From what I remember, there were things ranging from us voting on the bronze droid that Obi-Wan gets after R4 is murdered to paying to become a member of "Hyperspace" and get exclusive content from the production sets itself. It not only built hype, but it helped these movies hit half a billion average/minimum at the box office and preserve the fans. Post-Disney doesnt have that and I dont believe it's fair. In a sense, it builds even more hype in a post internet age but I miss the "leaks" of old

I don't disagree. The officially released stream of information was a good thing, and quite a different marketing approach from the tension/release model they use today. Not saying one is better than the other, just that they both can be effective.

But scripts were known well in advance. The leaks, they were real. I, for one, am fine with those sorts of spoilers. But in today's social media climate, many people would not be.

It's because of how fast information travels due to social media marketing.

It sounds like it starts with an "S" if I'm not looking too much into it.
