When Han, Chewie, Rey, Finn, and BB-8 visited Maz’s castle, they only heard part of the house band’s funky, reggae-fueled “Jabba Flow.” Now, you’ll get to hear the whole song.

In celebration of Star Wars Day, Lin Manuel Miranda and J.J. Abrams — writers and performers of “Jabba Flow” from Star Wars: The Force Awakens — are sharing the full version of the fan-favourite tune.

I personally did not care for this tune. I didn't like the camera work where it spun around the room so quickly, I didn't like Maz calling out Han Solo for everyone in the room to hear, and the music was not as all iconic like the cantina music. Just my opinion on that scene. I think that whole scene needed help, but yet they took out the ceiling collapsing bit, which I thought was needed to help setup Maz as a force user and show how Han knew about Finn being a trooper.

I think we should set up a poll, because I was not expecting this many negative reactions to Jabba Flow. In my opinion, this new original cantina track was perfect. As an audio engineer, I know the struggles and hardships of creating music suited for the atmosphere intended, and I can't even imagine how much pressure and difficulty one must face making music that isn't a score, in the Star Wars universe.
You have to admit, it's a difficult atmosphere to construct, so one must be careful.
I thought it perfectly captured the soul of random and foreign cantina creatures just honestly trying to enjoy themselves one way or another.
This tune is so simple and catchy, that I have been listening to it constantly and find myself whistling it as well.

BIG PROPS to Lin Manuel for the deep toned, gritty yet melodic vocals as well. I think this is an iconic peice of work that will be remembered and charished by the next generation just as much as we charished the Biff's Cantina song.

I love the tune. Yes, it draws comparisons to the cantina tune but the whole sequence is a tribute to that scene anyway. Back in ANH, John Williams composed the cantina band tune as a nod to Benny Goodman. Then we had the tune in Jabba's palace that was like something from an aerobics video (very eighties) which has since been replaced by something a bit bluesy. Now we have Jabba Flow which is very much influenced by reggae. It's all good as far as my ears are concerned.
