In Episode V and in the game The Force Unleashed, it's proven that size doesn't matter to a Jedi; Yoda raises the X-Wing out of the swamp and Starkiller is able to pull a Star Destroyer down out of the sky.

So I wonder, how many Jedi could've pulled down the Death Star if there were enough of them?

One Jedi knight could do it - size really does matter not! Anyway I always thought the Jedi knights were capable of doing incredible things like moving around Star Destroyers and Death Stars or even whole planets, just that it would be impractical. Like (bringing some real physics into it<3) if a Jedi knight was using the Force to accelerate the Death Star, or any other spaceship in space for that matter, over time its orbit could change significantly (By accelerating it downwards toward the planet, you would actually be rotating the orbit around the planet, like rotating a hula hoop around a stick - in order to make it fall down, you need to accelerate it opposite to the direction of its orbit.), but that effect can easily be countered by the spaceship's own maneuvering thrusters (or whatever Star Wars spaceships use to orient themselves and make small orbital corrections). So that's why it like never actually happens. Things like planets, asteroids, comets, and stars don't react to any accelerations Jedi knights might make with the Force though, and could be moved around successfully.

Gotta agree with @Kibble here. Theoretically, one Jedi could move something of any size if they were strong enough with the force. But there are many reasons why you wouldn’t do that.

    1. Distance. It seems from what we see in the movies, that distance does play some role in ability to use the force. Otherwise, Vader wouldn’t have recognized Luke’s presence at Endor only because he was passing by. If physical distance played no role, he could found Luke easily. Or the emperor could have force choked all the jedi from his office as opposed to counting on the clones to do his killing for him, etc.. Being that, unless you are on it, the Death star is likely to be hundreds of miles away from you, it would likely be difficult to move.
    2. Gravity. Moving something the size of a moon would have sever impacts on whatever celestial body you are standing on. Tides, gravitational pull, not to mention reeking havoc on anyone who plotted a hyperspace course through the vicinity without knowing this planetary body showed up out of nowhere. I think the impacts would be too unpredictable for someone like a Yoda to mess with those sorts of things.
    3. Velocity. As Kibble mentions. These are not static objects. They either have engines or are in orbit, meaning they are already hurtlint through space at 1000’s of mph. Not quite the same as moving a parked X wing.

Well we've seen 1 person use the Force and pull down a Star Destroyer in Force Unleashed.

So I'm gonna go with 10.

A single Jedi could do it if he had enough knowledge of the force. However, any Dark Jedi or Sith abord the Death Star would certainly sense a disturbance in the force and work to counteract the force. Then it becomes a struggle between which group has more knowledge. If their powers are equal, the Death Star remains in place. According to some sources a Death Star also has it's own propulsion systems. This could play a small role in keeping the Death Star in place, but it would be almost negligible in comparison to the power of the force.

Maybe it would be a better idea for the jedi to make the Death Star implode

If we are going of Jedi non can bit if we bring in sith there is a practice that allows sith to rip the core out of a sun and throw it at his enemies on such sith was naga sadow he could rip the Death Star one two from orbit easily

Eh I'd say him and ten of his clones if he could take down an entire city by himself

In The Empire Strikes Back, Yoda demonstrates this sort of thing generally goes beyond size / ratio / standard ideas of physics.

In Rebels (Season 3, Episode "Steps into Shadow"), Ezra exploits an even more practical and direct method: he mentally commandeers an AT-DP, overpowers the driver's mind, and sends the thing over an edge.

A more complete description of the episode can be found here:
    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_Rebels:_Steps_Into_Shadow

In Ezra's case, he is tapping into Dark Side knowledge gained from the Sith Holocron (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sith_holocron).

More likely a Sith thing to do rather a Jedi, as I would see it, although the Jedi are no strangers to wielding great power.

The Jedi are supposed to be wiser, though, and, with them, such general questions of overpowering anything would not merely come down to "could it be done" (since they would know it could) but rather should such actions be taken, given the circumstances, and is such action within the Will of the Force?

There are other practical considerations, from a storytelling perspective:
+ it would be much easier for the Empire to discredit a single Jedi victory over something like the Death Star, writing it off as an "accident"
+ having the Rebellion -- and most specifically Luke Skywalker fulfill the task -- is not only more difficult to deny or disprove, as many systems over many years would have contributed to the Rebellion's cause and the Battle at Yavin, it is also a more compelling storyline to have such a victory achieved by the collective efforts of the galaxy's most motivated underdogs (i.e. non-Jedi / non-Sith -- and Luke was not yet a Jedi)

The Jedi would have exhibited incredibly more power and wisdom by maintaining a greater awareness, being utterly mindful in the Cosmic and Living sense of the Force, anticipating the machinations of the Dark Side, the return of the Sith, the rise of Sidious / Palpatine, critically thinking through the creation of Clones, and taking preemptive steps, be it on Geonosis, or elsewhere, to prevent the reality of a Death Star.

But then, the reason the Sith were able to return and the Death Star was able to be constructed in the first place, all while the Jedi convinced themselves they were still the galactic guardians of peace and justice, does deserve its own deep analysis.

I really think it would take only one, however he or she would most likely have to ignore the mentality of the ordeal and be one with the force. The shear size of the deathstar would be enough to likely intimidate most.
