(Edit: This theory has lost credibility, and likely untrue)

    Keep in mind two points:

Disney threw away some canon regarding Syfo Dyas.

    • That Syfo Dyas blood was used in General Grievous body. (Almost like they wanted to save him for further use)

    • That Dooku officially killed Syfo Dyas

Why did they choose to "spare" Syfo Dyas?

    While far from solved, compelling.

Under 8mths until we find out... unless RJ leaves it for Episode IX, in which case this speculation has several years more of mileage to go  :D

I'm generally against these tendency to connect everyone with everyone else - it makes the GFFA feels as big and diverse as a small, backwater village. I have a feeling they could go with Plagueis, but only because that'd be a way to neatly tie the PT and the OT togheter through both the Skywalkers' and the Palpatine's end of the thread.

However, what really befuddles me about this Syfo Dyas theory is - assuming is true, how come that Snoke is 7+ feet tall?
Yes, there are other, minor, annoyances - like the fact that the idea would be narratively unserviceable, that the general audience has no idea who the hell Syfo Dyas is and the movie should grind to a halt, to introduce 10 minut of expositional dialogue about who this guy is and that - generally - the idea is flat and not very interesting ("uh... the Big Bad Wolf was just some guy who ordered a bunch of clones") but, mostly... how does a ship crashing and/or hours of Sith tortures make someone grows in height?

I always found the story of Syfo Dyas very confusing. At first (after watching AOTC), I thought that Syfo Dyas was killed by Sidious around the time of TPM and that Sidious went to Kamino and ordered the manufacturing of the clones (including the Order 66 chips) while pretending to be Syfo Dyas. Of course, he may have ordered someone else to do these things. When Palpatine is told about the clones in AOTC, he does not seem surprised at all.

Later, I had watched the Clone Wars episodes about Syfo Dyas, but these episodes only made me more confused. It has been a while since I watch the episodes, so I may be remembering some details incorrectly.

Snoke is a dark side of the Force user from deep in the Unknown Regions or possibly another galaxy. He wasn't around because he was attempting to lure Palpatine to him.

Compelling. Snoke did say he witnessed the rise and fall of the empire, he has lived to see the history of the Jedi and Sith, and he admired Darth Vader. Perhaps he is Sifo-Dyas, maybe that's why he decided against clones for the First Order.

Until we see Snoke in person, his height and features exist in a nebulous state of canon, up to the discretion of the filmmakers. Now, do I personally believe he is Sifo-Dyas? No, there just doesn't seem to be enough personal stakes to create a compelling villain from that. Plagueis is perhaps more logical, but even I have a hard time believing that.

    Syfo-Dyas, Plagueis .... Hmmmmmm??? ... Maybe.

I have been seeing poeple on other forums saying he is Thrawn. I'm not seeing that, Thrawn is always cool and collected - no matter what is happening. In TFA, Snoke loses his cool a bit when Kylo Ren tells him that Rey resisted him.

    "The girl resisted YOU?!?"

That definitely does NOT seem like Thrawn to me.

Plus, Snoke is Dark Side user, Thrawn isn't any kind of Force user.
