I realise it's International Women's Day and I will unintentionally come off as being crass and/or sexist, but Blanchett looks flipping awesome for 47!

I assume Loki's enjoying watching Thor battle Hulk in the arena or something :D.
Yeah, it's very Kirbyesque and Simonson inspired. It looks to be the most comic-booky Marvel film yet.
Oh yes, she has aged very well.

Thor Ragnarok story details from the EW issue:
"She’s been locked away for millennia getting more and more cross, and then, with a mistake, she gets unleashed and she ain’t getting back in that box," Cate Blanchett says about Hela, and is responsible for sending Thor to Sakaar.

"[Sakaar is] basically where every wormhole across the universe dumps out its trash, so you get people from all walks of life with all sorts of incredible abilities and powers," Chris Hemsworth says. The planet is ruled by the Grandmaster, and Hulk has become the number one Gladiator there. "No one cares what prince or king Thor may have been in another world. Also, his strength is pretty easily matched with those he finds himself amongst."

"Taika has such a quirky, left-of-field sense of humor, which forced all the characters and the tone of the whole story to head in a new direction," Hemsworth then added. "Each day we were like, ‘Are we pushing it too far? Are we allowed to have this much fun?’"

Director Taika Waititi made sure to shoot down suggestions that the comedy would ruin and/ or interrupt any emotional moments in the film. "I think sometimes people mistake a tonal shift as ‘We’re just going to make some ridiculous broad comedy where no one gives a s— what happens and everyone gets stoned and sits around talking about saving the universe. We want people to care what happens and care that the hero succeeds. I think tonally it’s like a slight shift. I don’t feel nervous — I feel good about it."

Just finished watching Iron Fist. Not perfect, but a good show overall. I would give it 8.0 out of 10.

A couple main things that I marked it down for.

Most notable weakness IMO was the fight choreography. While not terrible by any means, and there were some good fights here and there, it really should have been the best of the Marvel Netflix series on that front. It is after all, the show about the Kung Fu superhero.

Also, while I would say that I enjoyed this show more than Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, I will say that Finn Jones as Iron Fist is the least charismatic of the four leads so far. He wasn't bad, but I felt he had a hard time selling the angry moments on more than one occasion. Additionally, the chemistry between him and the lead actress left something to be desired as well, I just didn't entirely buy it.

Still a good show, but with some weaknesses. It definitely doesn't deserve the critical drubbing that it is taking at the moment. I don't think all of the people who are giving it bad reviews are doing so for political reasons, I can see how it won't be for everybody, but the reviews are far too negative overall for me to believe that they aren't at least partially being influenced by PC culture.

I look forward to discussing more spoilery details when more people have finished it.

I think it tried too hard to walk the line between true Kung-Fu fighting from old cinema and modern action choreography. Lead to it looking slow and clumsy over natural. I'm sure it will evolve to where it needs to be.

I overall liked it more than Jessica Jones or Luke Cage as a whole season. Much more consistent episode to episode. Oh and it didn't do one thing both of those did that I still hate them for.

It didn't kill of the best character half way through or in the end. It left it open for more things to be explored and not just due to it's connections to the other shows. It actually set up something.

Me too @Stormagadon I always look forward to how the next one fairs in the franchise, we've had Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield & now it's Tom Holland's turn, he was impressive in Civil War & now we've got Ironman on board as well Tony will be a great mentor for him.

He wears a standard suit and one based on the Ultimate line.

The trailer was fantastic! I felt like they could have gone without previewing the whole "I'm taking the suit" line, though - I thought that gave away too much.

I think they are willing to show too much to give people confidence given how the last two Spider-Man franchises ended.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Her involvement in the new Spider-Man films make sense though because her and Feige have some kind of working relationship.

She did stuff like ask for his opinion on how to improve The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Let's just say she unfortunately didn't fix his number one issue: the villain one .

Pascal and Rothman are cancer for Sony.
They will struggle and eventually die with them in charge.

Rothman flat out hates comic books and only makes them for money (and his hires and decisions make it clear).
Pascal....she's just the worst. When she produces a non-garbage film, it's the broken clock theory.

Sony might be dumb, but they aren't stupid. They know that this deal is going to keep them afloat, or at least that it will give them time to board the lifeboats. The only reason that they're going forward with the spin-offs is because they want to cash in, not because they're planning on divorcing Spider-Man from the MCU after everything it took to make that happen. In the meantime, the MCU is what's going to give them the money to waste on those other movies.

In regards to Pascal, I can tell you that Spider-Man (2019) will be the last Spider-Man movie she produces, because her contract with Sony regarding her production company (which was made as part of her severance package) ends that year. And since she's going to leave at that point, she won't be in any position to make further adjustments to the contract - Tom Rothman will. And he'll play nice with Kevin Feige because they've worked together before, and more importantly, Rothman knows that Feige's movies are going to succeed while his current slate of movies have floundered.

There could still be a lot to give away such as what happens to him as a result and some sort of character arc for Peter where he learns "with great power comes great responsibility" without the line being said for the millionth time

No, I'm referring to the 2019 sequel to Homecoming that's already planned and will be a part of the MCU.

Spidey trailer showed too much but it was good, really looking forward to Homecoming. I used to collect Spidey when I was in high school haven't been excited for Spidey like this since then. Now that I'm into martial arts, its all about the Batman and the Bat Family. But hey still love Marvel. Great time to be comics collector. Still a big Heavy metal magazine fan and we're getting Valerian. Its a gonna be a great year Ghost in the Shell Friday!
