I agree, this is annoying. And the settlements themselves aren't particularly... interesting.

Side note: Interesting that you use the term 'set'... because I'm pretty sure the forest on Takodana and the forest on Starkiller Base are the exact same 'set', just with some snow added to the latter. I'm not sure why Disney is cost-cutting in that department, and honestly I'd rather see fewer Star Wars movies than 20 that all look exactly the same.

They were two different sets. The forest on Starkiller, specifically the one for the final fight between Kylo and Rey, was built just for that scene inside of Pinewood. The scene with Maz's castle and Han and Chewie coming out of the rubble was filmed outdoors. It was the set we got a glimpse of in some of the cell phone footage we got prior to TFA

No, I mean the chase through the forest on Takodana. The trees look almost identical to Starkiller's forest, except without the snow.

I'm pretty hyped to see Tatoonie and Mustafar, but I'm curious to see what will happen on Endor. Just please no more Ewoks...

I still think they are likely different as one of the special features for TFA showed how they created the forest scene for the lightsaber fight on Starkiller. It appeared that they created it just for that scene

The Takodana scenes were def Puzzlewood and filmed outdoors, if I correctly recall. As MD said, the final duel was on a set, not outdoors.

As for what @Klai Kenobi was talking about and the lack of new planets (or at least inhabited ones), we do get something new in whatever place the Dubrovnik scenes are set. I'm optimistic we'll see more than just the classic three mentioned in the OP, especially since TFA felt pretty hackneyed in the world/universe building department...

I'm 99% sure that Dubrovnik will be the only city/town on that planet.

We have to remember that the original story said that we will see the theee planets again in the ST at some point not specifically TLJ. One or all may be in IX. There is plenty of room over the next 2 films to have these three planets as well as new places. Just look how many different places showed up in Rogue One.

This is a great thread. It seems most of us are into the idea of seeing these planets again, though many question the way Endor could be featured.
Aside from a Forceback of Kylo Ren (or perhaps the Acolytes of the Sith) retrieving Vader's mask.

Well, I remember from the Art of the Force Awakens some concept art of Rey (and Finn, not sure) diving into a lake, to retrieve something from Palpatine's spire on the Death Star, which fell out of the sky, into said lake.

The same book also features concepts of streets and buildings which look a lot like the Dubrovnik set. My guess is they took some of the ideas from TFA and used them in TLJ. Remember, there are interviews/ bts footage where it is stated they're trying to build things which could be reused for other movies.
For example, the constructed parts of Kylo Ren's ship were reused as the Imperial landers in Rogue One.

So that's my take on Endor. It will be a Forceback about retrieving Vader's mask or it will be a present journey where someone dives into a lake to visit Palpatine's spire. As I'm typing this, I had to chuckle, because were all (adult) kids here :)

About the remarks of seeing only one set/ location per planet, my question is, how could this be done otherwise? A big part of Star Wars is merchandise, so many different planets/ locations means many/ different inhabitants and designs, which means many/ different stuff to sell.

Also, we have to remember that planets in the Star Wars universe can't be compared to Earth. Because there are so many planets in the SW universe, to me it makes sense that most of them aren't that heavily populated, with the population that does exist on a planet living close together, with only some outposts on different locations.

Related, I remember an interview with Filoni, where he said that one of the ideas was that, because the SW universe is quite old, most planets are in fact desert planets. The reason that we mostly see humans (besides a real life cost effective way) is that the humans in SW simply are the most widespread species. I know this is the most exciting explanation, but apparently this is what they use as fact.

You might want to check out the Leia comic mini-series ;-)

One small set per planet says Abrams and Disney! Don't want to flesh out worlds too much like Lucas did in the prequels.. Because that was the problem with the prequels, right?! WRONG!

RJ may be a PT fan but I don't think he's a "Gusher".

Let's say a pyscho fan kidnapped RJ. The pyscho gives RJ a choice 4 his freedom.

Burn an autographed by GL VHS copy of ROTS still in its box or burn an original ANH toy out of its box signed by GL.

I think RJ will save the toy.

And on that note, you just reminded me that there were ROTS VHS tapes made, right before they went out of style.

I know that A History Of Violence was the last major studio picture to be released on the format, but I thought that it hit before ROTS was on DVD (and therefore, before it would have arrived on VHS). I guess not.

I could of sworn ROTS was on VHS so people could "complete" the Saga in its 240p glory.

I just found out that II & III were never officially released on VHS!!!!!

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope the Tusken Raiders learn their lesson if Rey encounters them this time.
