Official Rey Episode VIII thread

Yeah, I find it to be their new middle chapter echo/echo of The Empire Strikes Back while mimicking the original trilogy blueprint.

But more importantly, it's what's best for the story and the characters outside of Rey - particularly the conflict with Kylo Ren (her brother).

 

I'm glad a lot more people are on/back on the Rey Solowalker wagon. It really is the only conclusion in my head that does Leia, Han, Luke, Ben and Rey real justice and a true happy ending. Makes so much sense, how the explain I don't know, or care. Few lines will do me.

 

This won't change anything. This story isn't build by polls.

 

Polls? I have no idea what your on about. I'm just saying what I feel makes the best story. We all have our opinions.

'Taking Red Sparrow‘s old November 10, 2017 release date will be the remake of Murder on the Orient Express, starring Kenneth Branagh (who also directs), Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Leslie Odom Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer, Lucy Boynton and more. It could be one that goes for some awards, especially in the acting department.'

 

That would be quite a entrance.

I figured Rey would keep Anakin's saber. If there is one thing I figured this ST would keep, it is the pattern of Lightsabers. Namely, Rey has her first one and will more than likely loose it, which sheesh; I feel bad for Anakin's lightsaber. From slaughtering children to being tossed and thrown, I wonder how the crystal feels? Jokes aside, I do suspect she'll probably get a saberstaff by episode nine.

As for her new design; I like it. It is a nice blend of the Jakku outfit and the traditional Jedi robes. And the long hair does suit her. Really, all I'll want to see is how Rian Johnson handles her character. Because, aesthetics aren't everything. Just because someone can look cool, doesn't mean they will be anything memorable/ a good character(cough, Darth Maul. And note TPM Darth Maul. Everything outside of that is fine). The thing I'll be curious is if Rey will learn any new Force abilities.

For example, I am perplexed as to why she didn't develop clarisistence. For those wondering, it is a Force power that enables one to see the history of objects. Qunlin Voss has it and it is really cool. As a Scavenger, it would have been badass to see Rey having this and this being her application of the Force. That doesn't mean it isn't possible, but really something I'd like to see in this ST is some new Force Powers. Don't go overboard, but at the same time, the Force is this mystical energy.

The OT, while great movies, were limited by their special effects. Take advantage of 2017. Especially, when using Force powers in conjunction with saber combat.

 

It's funny I'm kinda married to her old outfit and old hair style. Though I did think the outfit she wore when she met Luke on Ach-To was an upgrade, I thought her hair was iconic.

I also mentioned very early on that I thought hoped she would master a Saber staff as well as a LS because, it just looked cool when Maul used it, and they started her off with a staff anyway, seemed like a good segue.

And I do believe we are definitely going to see new Force Powers especially as the move towards the balance paradigm as opposed to light and dark. I mean we see it already with Kylo's ability to freeze matter and energy (which I assume he learned from Snoke), I certainly expect new abilities to be shown on both sides.

Given what happened between Luke and Ben, maybe Luke puts Rey through the ultimate test to see if she really is worthy to be trained?

 

You think he sent her to the cave first and THEN trained her (based on how she performed)? Interesting and could make a lot of sense, especially if Luke is over the whole "Jedi thing"
