Out of curiousity - how would each of you rate the existing SW films in terms of your best to least favorite? And please do provide details

I cannot rate them.
My favorite is which ever I'm currently watching.
Some might see this as interesting or curious as coming from a 50 ur old OG fan.
I love them ALL equally.

Hello Star Wars fans. My name is Josh, I've been a fan my whole life, with exception to the lost years, but I've been back into it for several years now. I pretty much like everything Star Wars to a degree. This seems like a great forum to discuss Star Wars in an intelligent and civil manner. That is appreciated.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm not sure I have too much of an explanation for each individual film, but here's my list:

1. Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi (I can't really decide)
2. A New Hope
3. The Force Awakens
4. Rogue One
5. Revenge of the Sith
6. Attack of the Clones
7. The Phantom Menace

Funnily enough, in terms of the SW universe outside of just the films, I'm more interested in the prequel era than the GCW. But, when it comes to the films, I think that the original trilogy was executed better. Personally, I found Hayden Christensen's acting in the prequels to be a little subpar at times...the dialogue with Padme is often awkward and Anakin comes off as a pretty creepy kinda guy in their relationship. And him aside, you've still got the CGI overkill.
A lot of people also seem to criticize the prequels for their relative lack of action. While I would've liked to have seen a bit more, I don't much mind the focus on politics (my favorite movie is actually Spielberg's Lincoln if that's any indication). So, all in all, I don't despise the prequels like some people do, but they don't stand up to the original trilogy.

Within the original trilogy, I don't think ANH is too far behind ESB and ROTJ. I enjoy all three quite a bit. I guess I'm a bit partial though to Luke's character development in the last two: seeing him grow, wrestle a bit with the father revelation, and confront/convert Vader. (I'm also just a sucker for Yoda!)

I'm pretty excited for The Last Jedi to see Luke's story continued in addition to Rey's. I have a feeling that it'll be worth the wait.

I've been a member for almost two weeks now, but I just found this thread, so for those of you who don't know me or haven't seen me around... Hello, I'm Trev! I've been a massive Star Wars fan since my dad showed me A New Hope when I was 5 years old. I'm a writer, journalist, and film critic, and in my free time, I enjoy watching movies and listening to, writing, and/or playing music. I'm also a HUGE Adele fan.

On a separate note, being that this thread is for new users, I thought this would be the best place to ask... I want to change the blue label under my user name. It currently says "Clone Trooper" and I've seen some other users have some pretty cool ones, but I don't really know how to change that. Could someone help me out? Thanks!

Technically, yes, I was raised with the Original Trilogy first, but I was growing up as the prequels were being released. My parents were awesome in the sense that they showed me A New Hope first. However, my dad told me it didn't matter what order I watched them in, so after renting A New Hope at the video store for the millionth time, I got Return of the Jedi (yeah, I know—I was very confused by the Han/Leia romance and Vader being Luke's father), and THEN The Empire Strikes Back. Oh, and to make matters worse, my dad mistakenly told me The Phantom Menace was about Luke and Leia as kids (he said Anakin was Luke and Padmé was Leia until I figured out how wrong he was).

But believe me, I still consider the Original Trilogy the best, and I tell all of my friends to watch the Original Trilogy first, then the Prequel Trilogy, then the Sequel Trilogy (which, obviously for right now, is just The Force Awakens).

 

Hello and good day to you! I'd like to start off by saying I am not as deeply versed as some in the lore and legend of the greatest story ever told, but I have a deep love and connection to all things Star Wars. I grew up getting to watch the OT movies the day they were each released in the theater. I was lucky enough to have a mother who loved Sci-Fi as much as I did.

Please dont flame me but it was honestly the original Star Trek that brought me to Star Wars. As a child, each Sunday before church I would get up and watch reruns of the original ST which got my Sci Fi blood pumping! This is what led me to want to see Star Wars when it came out. After that I left Kirk and Spock behind for Luke and the gang and never looked back.

There is so much I identify with in SW. I am a man of faith and and I love Lucas's take on it. Dont get me wrong, I dont think you can force choke your neighbor (But I'd love to sometimes!) but I do believe that there is something that connects all of us. Something we dont quite understand but deep down we can feel its power.

I also really identify with the aesthetic design of the SW universe. That is how I would imagine an advanced civilization to be. Lived in, used and repaired. Resources scarce nearly everywhere but people of all types working together for a better day.

As for me, I'm the 45 year old of Father of a 18 year old Daughter and two Boys, well dogs but I call them my boys. My Boys actually love watching Star Wars with me. Especially Chewbacca! I need to get some video of them when Chewy is on the screen. To them, he is the star of the entire series lol!

Lets see, what else. I drive a Jeep, play a little guitar, love video games and GoT and various other fantasy and Sci Fi universes and my big guilty please besides Star Wars are bubble gum Super Hero movies! Love them. Love everything Marvel has done over the past decade and I love MoS and BvS. Still havent seen WW yet but that is this weekend. I also ran the Star Wars page over at Voteable before the site shut down a few months ago.
