    2/3 of Trevorrow's movies suck. That's a 33% success ratio.

Fire him immediately! Bring in Gore Verbinski.

    Why Gore Verbinski?

    1. He can pull off tension and comedy (as proven by the Pirates of the Carribean trilogy)
    2. He's great with special effects (Pirates, Rango)
    3. He has a good relationship with Disney, they're confident in his abilities
    4. He has a great friendship with David Fincher, who would probably be on-set during filming.. giving advice for special effects and so on.
    5. He has a lot of EXPERIENCE (unlike Trevorrow, Lord & Miller)
The Lone Ranger didn't get great reviews, yet made it into Tarantino's top 10 films for that year. Cure for Wellness' problems are purely down to the writers and other personnel.

Verbinski has been consistently effective since 2002's The Ring.. when it comes to directing. He can pull off epic imagery, special effects, comedy, he's good with actors.. the best choice in my opinion.

    Trevorrow sucks!

You may shout, you may punch, you may kick but Trevorrow wil stay anyway. So...

I'm down. I'd rather have a good director than a bad one. Granted, the only Trevorrow movie I've seen is Jurassic World...and I didn't think it was any good.

When you suggest a director that should replace someone, the goal should be to choose a better director. ;)

Gore has made 2 good films in the last 15 years. Out of 7.

    1/3 > 2/7

    Ooof.

If you are gonna change directors, at least move upwards.

Whoa. Didn't see Verbinski stepping in..

I liked his Ring remake, Rango, the first two Pirates, A Cure For Wellness.. and Lone Ranger was goofy but actually beautifully shot.

I have faith V. He wouldn't be my first choice but it's an interesting move.

Verbinski is a far superior director. Jurassic World was horrendous.. Verbinski has far more experience and actually knows how to mix comedy with engaging action. All three Pirates of the Carribean movies are better than Jurassic Shart.

So were the next Pirates movies he made.

In fact, critically, he's only made 2 movies considered better than Jurassic World.
    Rango and the first POTC.

Lol, thanks for the laugh. (Don't take that too serious)

I'd say give it to Neill Blomkamp. He's one of the best picks for a Star Wars movie (more for a standalone movie though).

Okay then.. let's compare the IMDb ratings of the two directors' movies from the last fifteen years.

    Gore Verbinski:
    The Ring - 7.1
    POTC 1 - 8.0
    The Weather Man - 6.6
    POTC 2 - 7.3
    POTC 3 - 7.1
    Rango - 7.2
    The Lone Ranger - 6.5
    A Cure For Wellness - 6.5

    Colin Trevorrow:
    Safety Not Guaranteed - 7.0
    Jurassic World - 7.0
The Book Of Henry - 5.7

Gore Verbinski IMDb score average = 7.0285714285714
Colin Trevorrow IMDb score average = 6.5666666666667

Have your fedoras stopped spinning yet?

Trevorrow is a company man. He is everything that the J.J. Abrams haters hate about J.J... rolled into one director. He will make an uninteresting movie, he will bend over backwards to tailor make the film purely for 10 year old demographic (like he did shamefully with Jurassic World... all the way down to making the protagonists 10 year old boys)

The story will take no risks, it will be filled with nostalgia. It will be a waste of time and it'll let down the potential trilogy that TFA set up.

Directors like J.J, Rian Johnson, Verbinski.. they know how to keep the studio happy and somewhat keep the core fanbase happy. They know how to work with actors, special effects.. while Trevorrow only has experience on one overrated indie movie, a painfully below average blockbuster and a box office bomb. Doesn't the failure of The Book Of Henry prove that Trevorrow had nothing to do with the success of Jurassic World?

But hey.. keep rallying for him. I've always felt he was a bad choice, but felt J.J. and Rian were the best choices possible for their movies. Lord and Miller.. bad choice. Gareth Edwards.. boring choice. I said this back when they were all hired, and i've been proven right time and time again with the reshoots.. firings and so on.

We need an experienced director who has worked with major studios for a number of years.. someone who can stand his ground against the demands of Disney.. without pushing things to the extremes that Lord and Miller did. That ain't Colin Trevorrow.

Pirates of the Carribean's tone is far closer to Star Wars then Jurassic World.. yall need to watch more movies.

If episode 9 turns out to be a bunch of trash.. there will be no quality standard for the next trilogy to live up to! It's important for episode 9 to be great.

Actually, quite the opposite - since co-wrote JW and didn't write The Books of Henry.

And Gareth Edwards was a bad choice? Please, Rogue One was a great movie. All the re-shoots did was to condense the ending and merge the two locations, thus making for tighter narrative and shorter film. They also gave him time for the new ideas, including the best (by many accounts) scene in the film with Vader destroying the rebels.

Additionally, Trevorrow cannot just make anything he pleases, because he is co-writing and directing continuation of TFA and TLJ. And one of those we have yet to see, so it is really impossible to make any judgement about what Trevorrow will do, because we don't know what he is building upon.

I love Blomkamp, but don't think he's right for Star Wars.. it would be a waste of his time, talent and stress levels too. I'd like to see him be a writer-director of his original ideas. Ideally yeah it would be great, but it would take five years away from his creative work.

I worded that wrong with Edwards.. a boring/safe choice but not a bad one. They had to reshoot things to make it more exciting.

That's a pure speculation on your part and unsupported by anything concrete.

In fact, Edwards was brought to the project before the script was even completed let alone the storyboards and only the breakdown of scenes existed. He made his editor 'create' the film by editing scenes from other movies so that they can figure out the pacing and length of scenes. That was in September 2014. So, completely opposite of what you are saying.
