Lol like they care what Finn's Backstory is.

I seriously doubt any such reveal will be impressive.

 

I'd say his backstory is more impressive than yours.

 

RJ is not even investigating Snoke Backstory according to his own words.
Rey's Backstory still needs to be explained so we all know that is taking priority.

Ergo I take it at face value, Finn Random.
Windu is a stretch.
Lando there is no sign we are even going to see Lando and that would be a complicated backstory to explain.
We already got Rey doing a kidnap type plot or something similar.

They really should give him a last name though. If only to make it easy to separate him from other pop culture Finn's.

 

They'll probably give him a rank to do that. Like Lt. Finn or Major Finn.

 

But I thought everyone hated Finn and KK was racist....?

 

Rey and Finn meeting the first time in TLJ:

Rey: Finn, I'm so happy to see you again.
Finn: Mee too, I'm a big deal now!

 

I don't know I found if a character or person is a big deal they and their supporters don't have to harp on it.

You know the old SHOW DON'T TELL.

 

I hope they make this make sense. I mean, comparatively when Luke actually took down the Death Star, he did get a medal at a ceremony but I don't remember him becoming a celebrity because of it... and he was the one that actually took it down. Finn was just there. Why wouldn't Rey be a big deal in the Resistance since she was the one that actually defeated Kylo and was also there during it's destruction? I'm not sure why they're putting such emphasis on this "Big deal" thing but I hope it's something meaningful towards advancing the story and the character.

 

Well Rey was in and out fast.
So I doubt she told the story to everyone heck most of the Resistance probably doesn't know much about her.

So I suppose Poe sung Finn's Praises?

 

I think maybe it'll make sense if Finn tells his own story and it becomes the thing of legend afterwards. Like I don't think he would intentionally inflate his tale but I think it could become over-inflated once retold by 2nd and 3rd parties. I don't think (based on what we have right now) that it would make sense for him to become a legend based on his story being told by someone else, because he was the only one there for all of it. Poe didn't see him fight Kylo, Rey didn't see him during the attack planning against SKB, only Han and Chewie know that he identified Phasma, so that Chewie could grab her and take down the shields.

 

I think its not unreasonable to assume that everyone was debriefed before leaving for Jakku.

 

Yeah but who was debriefed after the mission is the question.

I mean Han is Dead.
Finn is in a Coma.
Rey and Chewie are I guess its hard to know how long it took....out the door pretty fast.
Leia and the higher ups like Poe probably know the details....

The rank and file probably.

The problem with Finn "Being A Big Deal" is probably more Out of Universe.
Ergo the audience wasn't necessarily uniformly impressed with Finn's performance.

 

I think its a long time since you watched TFA.
Finn said he is a big deal in the resistance,
and Rey believed him because she doesn't know anything about the galaxy, FO or the resistance.
Han of course is more informed and know that he isn't a part of the resistance.
It was just a joke between Finn and Han,
Han even called him 2x Big Deal and not Finn.

In TFA his motivation was to rescue Rey,
In TLJ he will be probably a part of the resistance.
So:
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

 

I think you guys are overthinking it. The reason they keep on emphasising and repeating the line that Finn is a "big deal in the Resistance" is because they (TPTB) think it's a neat ironic echo of Finn's lie to Han.

It's just a shame that I despise the Resistance (the concept) but I suppose there is no better place for Han Solo 2.0 then the Rebel Alliance 2.0.
