What do you guys actually think about the entire concept and idea of having spin off and stand alone movies. Is it a good decision by Disney, or a bad one?

There is the balance - stand alones are good in bringing new fans to franchise, and delivering great stories outside main saga. It's possible to do the same using other media: comics, books, TV animated series, and as a die-hard SW I can say (and prove) there are tons of stories, twists, romance, tragedy, etc. in those media even better then stories we all know and love from films, but they are not for wide audience. And here come stand alone movies :D

Actually, can't wait for Solo, it's now clear it won`t be as strange as R1, 'cause we all already familiar with "Star Wars story". Don`t get too cocky!

I'm not usually a fan of spin offs but I do look forward to an expanded Star Wars universe. I really enjoyed Rogue One and although I didn't want a Han Solo film at first, I can't deny I'm now excited for it so hurry up with that trailer!

The film I really wanted from when these were announced is an Obi Wan story.

I'm at least okay with them and maybe they are even necessary for some fans to stay engaged as the other films tack to more unfamiliar territory and maybe eventually vice versa to more or less always give almost all something they can enjoy on a pretty regular basis and likely most time time after time.

If you hate everything so far from the Mouse and don't like Solo either then maybe there isn't going to be much to offer you but time will tell maybe something coming will click for you too.

After the end of Episode 9.
What would be the difference between "Saga" Star Wars and these anthology films?
    The lack of opening scrawls?
    The presence of Skywalker(s)?
    Solo(s)?
I wish some of the budgets for these anthology films went to a live action TV show, like Star Trek Discovery. Maybe on the Disney streaming service they are trying to launch.

    I Love the idea !
    More Star Wars ?
    Yep !
It has to grow beyond what it started out as (ain't that what alot of the parts of it teach ?)
and we should go and grow along with it.
Well, .. lemme rephrase that ...
Those of us that want to to go and grow along with it bein' that there'll always those parts beyond now that just won't be for some folk.

I think it’s a wonderful idea it fills in gaps in between some of the existing films and also introduces new characters and new planets etc. I also find them quite entertaining tbh. I can’t wait for Solo not too long now.
