No, it's not a James Bond/Han Solo crossover although that would be cool. Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade was the closest we'll ever get to that I guess.

I've only ever read the first book, which was a long time ago but with lots of talk recently about an adaptation (though I've heard it in the past and it never amounted to anything) I decided it was time to read the whole thing. The first was as good as I remembered it but while the second is still really good I don't like it as much as the first. However I'm only about halfway through so it still has a chance to catch up.

I'm also continuing my recent string of movie adaptations. After TLJ, Wargames, Spaceballs, Explorers, Alien, The Thing and a couple of Bond films (The Spy Who Loved Me - not to be confused with Fleming's novel - and Goldeneye) I've come to The Manhattan Project. I was really looking forward to this one but it's probably one of the worst novelizations I've read. Spaceballs was worse (I think it was written for 5 year olds) but this one's pretty close. I'm a little surprised because the same author did a pretty good job with Wargames. It seems he just really missed the tone of this movie or at some point during production it was meant to be a much darker movie. In the book Paul has bit of an unhealthy relationship with his mother, he won't stop thinking about how hot she is, and is more motivated at the thought of getting rid of Mattheson's competition than anything else. The only other motivation that seems apparent is that he had a friend who recently committed suicide and the guy was obsessed with nuclear holocaust, which passed on to Paul who actually fantasizes about using the bomb.

Looks like a post-apocalyptic version of "The Wizard". I've never heard of it but the summary I read sounds interesting.

Vulcan 697 The true story I f the RAF mission to become mb the Port Stanley airfield so it couldn’t be used by the Argentina Airforce. It also has some of the history of the Vulcan Bombers .

@Lock_S_Foils this one I: sure you would enjoy even if it’s about RAF Bombers & not USAF Fighters.

The Good Soldier Švejk. A satirical tale about a Czech disaster of a person who joins the Austro-Hungarian army during WWI. Imagine Jar-Jar Binks joining the army of the First Order (not Empire, the First Order specifically, there's this aura of absurdity and cocksureness around the FO that the Empire didn't really have) and you'll get the idea of what this book is like - a barrel of laughs.

The bit where they take part in Red Flag is particularly good they fly very low & very hard & even in the early 80s could still keep up with the F111 in getting through the US air defences.

Only got to see a Vulcan fly once at a air show but what a sight.
