no no no... you remember E1's tie in with Pepsi where there were something like 24 different character cans you could collect? That promotion got tied into DotF. They're saying:

    COLA..... BUY COLA..............
    COLA............ DRINK COLA..................

The credits. It was really hit and miss for me. It is part of the SW verse so I guess it can't be that bad.

Padme Amidala in Senator Sheev Palpatine's apartment, sitting in the belly of the beast (Darth Sidious' suite), Senator Palpatine's all red suite is similar to Snoke's red throne room, its poetic it rhymes.

Best thing about The Phantom Menace is the rich wealth of music in it. No other Star Wars film to date has had a greater quantity or variety of it.
Visually, I like all the Naboo and Tatooine scenes. The story is pretty meh, ("The Phantom U-Turn Back To Naboo" is what I call it!) but its a film I like far more than other non OT Star Wars films.

Can't agree with the last part, but yes, the music in TPM is spectacular. The sound is incredible and the masterful arrangement and orchestration make it flow so nicely. "The Tide Turns" is my favourite cue (not counting Duel of the Fates):

(I don't know what drugs was the cover designer on.)

Its blue to distinguish it from the vanilla standard version of the soundtrack which doesn't have the extended musical scores.

    I know. Looks awful.

But the standard release featured just the Struzan artwork, they didn't have to go with a blue, awkwardly grinning Maul for the extended version.

That Maul looks like he should be on an ad about getting kids to brush their teeth.

I love Duel of the Fates, but I also like when Anakin says goodbye to his mother, Qui-Gon's funeral, and Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon chopping up the battle droids at the start of the movie. Far from my favorite Star Wars movie, but there's actually a lot I like in this one!

Ugh, with all due respect to those who like this movie, sadly this is like asking me my favourite flavour of poo or the best track on an A*** C*** album. Right, I'm not trying to be a Negative Nancy, I just really regard the movie at the same level as the Ewok movies and just marginally above the Holiday Special (where I at least must confess I do quite enjoy Bea Arthur's Vaudevillian music number in that - quite honestly I'd absolutely love to hear it sung by Tom Waits or Scott Walker, especially the former). Er, god, if I have to choose a favourite scene I suppose it's the Maul duel? I guess? It brought about that horrible prequel habit of turning lightsaber battles into over-produced ballet performances and I am so sick of the music Duel of the Fates I can happily never hear it again, but since it was our first real moment of professionally trained Jedi (during their heyday) fighting an actually agile Sith, I suppose it's pretty good. I don't understand the video game forcefields scene and utterly dislike its shameless display of pirouetting modern-moving-making showing-off, but it's without a doubt the most classic and heartfelt Star Wars moment in a film that largely feels like a West End panto version of a galaxy far, far away.

Even though TPM had more real sets and on-location filming than its two followups I'll happily admit that yes, I'm "that guy" who actually prefers Attack of the Clones to it; even if that one's a dull CGI shlockfest fronted by a wooden plank wobbled in front of the camera with a nasally voice and a rat-tail whilst Ewan McGregor self-consciously chortles at his side in a fake ginger beard.

    But to each their own...

duel of fates is the obvious one, but Anakin walking away from his mother gets me every time.

I forgot this quote was in TPM. Forget anything I said before......this is my favorite moment in Menace and may the the prequels because of how simple but true it is. I actually think of this quote a lot in the real world.

My favourite parts of The Phantom Menace aren't actually in the film. They are two of the documentaries on the Extras DVD.

"All I Need Is An Idea....", a mini documentary of George Lucas planning Episode I.

"The Beginning" which tells the story of how the film was made in 1997.

Ohhh boy. That bonus DVD was epic. I love the docs more than the movie itself.

theres so many spectacular scenes and moments in EPISODE 1 that its impossible to narrow my fave down to just one
    • I love the swim otah gunga and the music that accompanies it as we follow JAR JAR down to that beautiful orb city
    • I love the stuff on tatooine and how we learn about Anakin's life and what he deals with as a kid day to day, and we see how powerful he is and gifted from the time he was just a little lad
    • Love the arrival to Coruscant as Anakin and Sio bibble pilot in and we see the beautiful world of coruscant for the first time and the Music is good as they swoop down to meet palpatine and chancellor valorum
    • and of course The Duel Of Fates is epic
    • and I like Qui Gons funeral
    • I like the Celebration and parade and how Boss Nass and Queen Amidala share the orb and announce unity. great way to end the first installment

My favorite part is that really awkward dinner at Anakins home, it always manages to crack me up whenever I watch it

When Darth Maul paces back and forth inside of the corridor.
When Anakin pledges himself to Palpy.

We all know what I'm going to say my favorite scene is. Duel of the Fates is probably one of the best scenes in any movie ever.

Duel of the Fates, and especially the takedown of Maul. I also like the very first moment where Maul's appearance (plus the music) convey a message of danger and importance without Maul saying a word.

Believe it or not, the scene where Anakin says good-bye to his mother before departing Tatooine.
