What are the 3 most iconic ships from the PT?

I think it would be the Jedi Starfighter, Vulture Droid and Amidalas Royal Ships.

 

Since we're doing icons, I'll sort it by The Good, The Hype, and the Bad
Number one: The Republic Gunship!!

This became "the Falcon" of this trilogy, but distinct in its display of mass production. LFL wasted no opportunity to slap this thing in film, tv, games, packaging, etc.. and for good reason. Th audience could connect with this ship. Much of the vehicles, like the action on the ground, at Geonisis is based off of World War 1. (I've been brushing up for WW) The action is Frontiers-Marne, just prior to the trenches. The AT-TE is based off a french tank, that big wheeled droid tank is actually a Russian design from that war. I don't think many people connect with that war, however, outside of the depiction of trench warfare.
The Gunship, however, is based off a MI-24 attack helicopter from our own time in history:

It also doesn't hurt that th mi-24 is already a movie star in its own right.
When you look at what was carried over from Episode 2 into Episode 3 virtually everything was scrapped. The Gunship, however, is all over the place.
The Republic Gunship is iconic of everything good about the prequels.

Well, now I descent into more contested territory.
For #2 I would have to go with the Droid Tank. This guy was the first thing we saw of the PT, coming over that hill, descending into the valley. I think prior to the Gunship it was the icon of the trilogy. Naboo starfighter makes a good case but it doesn't quite have that association with the hype of the PT that the tank does.


And that leads us to #3, the Bad, and there are a plethora of contenders for this fetid prize. Who yells "I SUCK!!" louder than any of them? I think that goes to the Trade Federation warship.
This thing looks like a failed attempt to make a donut. Like JarJar it gets shoved further and further into the background. By the time we get to 3 this thing is shoved so far into the background of that battle you would not notice it unless you were looking for it.. and nobody was in lieu of superior designs. And like dooku, it does not scare your three year old. The menace was certainly phantom on this design.

Naboo Starfighters

 

FIRST Ship I think of is Padme's sleek chrome Naboo starship. The ship breathes nostalgia for me. I'd say it's by far the Most Iconic ship of the PT. It's in every film and it truly represents Padme's class and nobility but while displaying humility as it isn't too over the top.

I really can't think of any other ships to rank near iconic level in the PT

Excellent question. I think there is an added level of difficulty since some of the ships/vehicles seen - especially in E3 - are derivative of the OT (which makes sense as they are earlier versions of OT ships). I guess it would be cheating if I said "Millennium Falcon" even though that's technically correct.... so here are my 3:

1) Slave I - like the Millennium Falcon it is iconic in part because of its role in the OT. However, unlike the Falcon, you won't miss Slave I's appearance if you happen to blink at the wrong time

2) Anakin's Podracer - I see you consider ground vehicles as fair game to be selected, so I put this vehicle on the list. You can (sort of) sit in a replica of Anakin's Podracer when you play that Podracing video game some places have. That gives it some "iconic points"

3) The Naboo Starfighter - I think this ship (as well as the Podracer for that matter) benefits from the fact that I was obsessed with anything and everything from the first E1 trailer, which took me 2 hours, 10 minutes to download and then I probably watched a couple hundred times or so (and that's not an exaggeration... I probably watched it at least 2 or 3 times a day for 6 months leading up to the release of E1....) And I did the requisite screen grabs and made it my wallpaper for a while...

 

podracer, N1 Naboo Starfighter, J type 327 nubian. When I think prequels, those are the first things that spring to mind. They're more Phantom Menace but still I'd say they are the most iconic.
