A midst the gun hysteria sweeping America, The HAN SOLO film posters have removed the pics of Han with his blaster. I am excited for this film and hoping the best for it. I think the main poster LOOKS FINE with out blasters but the individual posters look awkward without the blasters.

This is HAN's individual poster after they removed the blaster. Looks a little awkward.

Here's the main poster with blasters
    upload_2018-3-22_11-28-40.png

and here's what they did to it. I still think it looks BEAUTIFUL even without the blasters. Still this is probably an overreaction to the recent gun hysteria

I want to clarify I'm excited for this film, but I think Disney/lucasfilm is being a little paranoid over this

I don’t want shootings. I think we should make every effort to stop shootings. But as long as anyone plans to support this film, which WILL. HAVE. GUNS....this is overkill. At least put your money where your mouth is and pull the film completely if you’re gonna market the film this way.

    Again, it's just posters.

They're playing it really safe with this, but I can't blame them. It's a really controversial issue right now.

I can't help imagine that at one point in the film, Han will not be holding a gun, so it's not that weird to see him without one in the poster. Surely there are better things to be worried about.

This reminds me of the ridiculous guns swapped for walkie-talkies controversy when E.T. was re-released. Not only was it ridiculous, it lessened the threat of the boys on the bikes being caught by the walkie talking holding agents!

AGENT: "Stop! Or we'll.... throw our walkie talkies at you!"

Hiding guns from kids in movies and posters won't make the real world problem go away.

I pointed this out in the poster thread some time ago. It's very weird. If it was really motivated by the gun controversy, I still think it's pointless. It won't change anything, especially since everybody knows what to expect from Star Wars - there's going to be a lot of guns and violence in the movie. Total overreaction. Besides, these aren't even US posters and it is US where the topic is so controversial right now. And if you really want to give us a gun-free poster - try harder than just photoshopping guns out making the characters look awkward... Han looks just stupid in this edited version, I don't know how anybody could approve that design.

I love Star Wars but this is complete, over-the-top, overreaction insanity. Enough already.

This is my comment on the matter:

Guns, no guns, it's all part of the same machine.

Calm down, guys. It's just politics. This will have no bearing on the movie itself :)

Most of the "missing guns" aren't even noticeable to me but the Han Solo character poster looks silly without it since I believe it was meant to recreate one of the classic vintage images of Han.

That's why political correctness is dumb. I remember some parents being angry that the figures come with guns, but they're perfectly fine with letting their kids watch a movie with a giant space orb that blows up entire planets. Guns aren't bad. The good guys use guns to save the galaxy. That's the message they should be sending.

As I've suspected, the gunless variants of these posters aren't even American. They are Brazilian, where depiction of firearms on posters is prohibited by law. American (and other countries') variants do have blasters. The end of (senseless) story. Move on.

Interesting. We knew they were Brazilian, but I had no idea they have a law like this.

I think the bigger sin in that scene was the federal agents using economy cars instead of big old Chevys.

I'm staunchly anti-gun, but this is some true insanity. How thin-skinned are the people Disney is worried about pandering to with this move? After all, the franchise is called Star WARS, right?

I wouldn't classify abiding Brazillian law as pandering, but okay! (I'm joking, no hard feelings man.)

Star Wars Explained did a video explaining the situation, so before anybody goes to grab their pitchforks and torches at Disney, here are some facts:

Alex is truly one of the rare voices of reason left in SW YouTube space (and his channel is great and informative), not afraid to say what he thinks either way, but always respectful and calm. I hope he continues with Last Week in Clickbait, because the community needs it.
