THREAD FOR THOSE WHO HATED THE MOVIE

Sorry to see you go. You were one of TLJ supporters that I could have a reasonable discussion with. I hope you'll come back after things cool off.

I did not follow everything what happened here today, but I just have to say it would be bad if all people who like Star Wars leave this thread. An open discussion between what people like and dislike is always fine as long as noone tries to force his opinion on someone. I just mean completely separating people who liked TLJ and people who disliked TLJ was the beginning of the end at some other place. Hope it does not happen here. Just try to be respectful to each other that's all what I mean.

 

Not going to lie, in the past two years I have nearly quit. However, the mods here are good people, very human and caring. They do there best and are very balanced. I have had some disturbing instances online over petty tiny things. Hey I hate Kylo and Reylo and got some rebuttal for it. You just got to learn to turn off. At the end of it all we are just human. Sure it irritates when people try to prove your wrong and prance around like they are on a victory dance or something. If someone doesn't agree with you there still allowed an opinion. Something I learned from a very caring and sweet mod on here. I hope you guys don't go away permanently. We all love Star Wars the truth be told. Otherwise we wouldn't all be here. <3 xxx

People have this tendency to act like "it was necessary for this story, so there's no problem with it." But you know what wasn't necessary? "This story"! They could have written things differently if they wanted.

 

Yes, this sums it all up well. I have no issue having a discussion with someone of an opposing opinion and have had some very pleasant exchanges with some who loved TLJ. The problem has been when those who loved the movie come marching in here with their condescending, mocking tones simply to stir things up and tell us that we're wrong for not liking the movie and we must not be smart enough to understand. There's nothing respectful about that. I think most of us come in here to vent frustration and talk about our disappointments with TLJ. I don't think we should have to defend our positions in a thread that's clearly marked a hate thread. I don't understand the logic of those who loved the movie that come in here just to stir things up and then get mad when we won't bend to their opinions. It makes no sense! I have no desire to run into the thread for those who loved the movie and tell people that they are wrong for feeling that way. I don't envy the mods around here. They've got their hands full!

 

You raise good points. I like TLJ mostly, but I completely sympathize with those who don't like it, too, and certainly have no problem if negative opinions toward the movie are expressed. It bothers me to see certain people acting as though we should be ashamed of ourselves for DARING to dislike this movie. It's entertainment. No one is required to like, or dislike, entertainment.

 

It's funny. I have that problem in a completely different forum, but it's the opposite. It's a small community granted, but it makes it difficult to talk Star Wars when all they do is talk about how much they hate it. Anyone who comes in and likes TLJ they talk down on that person. Though, I have to ask. Why discuss something you hate? To me, that just seems like a waste of time to discuss something you hate. If I hated something, I don't waste my time on it. I'd just rather put positive energy then being negative about it.I mean, wouldn't you rather discuss something that you love about Star Wars?

 

Yes, I've discussed things that I like about SW on other sub forums here. I've got good feelings for and can find something positive to talk about with every other SW movie, even the prequels. However, I don't have much love for TLJ so I am going to be talking about it in this thread. I'm holding out hope that I won't be posting in a hate thread for Ep. 9. We'll see what December 2019 brings!

 

That's how I feel. There are plenty of threads where we all go back and forth about the pros and cons of E8, but there should be a thread where people who hated the movie can complain about it without being incessantly argued with. And to make it clear what the purpose of the thread is, maybe we can call it "THREAD FOR THOSE WHO HATED THE MOVIE"

I'm in a lot of threads in this forum, but not the "Thread for those who loved the movie" one. Maybe I should share my opinions in there as well.....

Oh yes I know I would be allowed to but by going in there, it would be nothing more than looking for an argument since I so fundamentally disagree with the very premise of the thread. So I respectfully leave it alone for others to have that discussion without interference.
