There's a lot more I like about the Prequels since The Last Jedi came out.

Revenge of the Sith is the only PT movie that I actively like. TPM & AOTC just didn't really do it for me in any way.

I will certainly say that I enjoy Ian McDiarmid in every SW film that he's been in. He is so perfect for the role, imo.

Don't want to be that guy, but there's actually no such thing as sugar-hyperactivity in children. It's a myth.

Oh yes. Or, for me, it's the richness and characters of the EU. So many awesome characters.

Speaking of McDiarmid and Palpatine, am I the only one who thinks that this lady who is in the TLJ Resistance Leadership:
impressively looks like Ian Mc Diarmid/Senator Palpatine ? Especially her mouth.
Okay.... this pic is not very probative.
See TLJ again, the moment when this lady introduces Holdo to the remaining Resistance crew, to take the leadership. I feel like I see McDiarmid talking.

    the world building obviously.
the clone wars and the mystery behind how they were created. the kaminoans were really something just out of my imagination.
the lightsaber duels were just incredible.
the geonosis scenes were beautiful and the huge arena battle was just one of the best parts in the entire saga, IMO.
The ORDER 66 EXECUTION scenes are just absolutely heartbreaking. I mean youre just heartbroken to see Anakin fall to the darkness and you see it coming from a mile away but when the Jedi start getting killed off, it's just you know this is the start of total dark times.
Revenge of the Sith ending with the mustafar duel, and the Vader suit creation, and the Padme funeral and the TWIN SUN ENDING.

Theres just so much to love

    1. The Clone Wars (everything about it)
    2. Plo Koon
    3. The fact that even though the Jedi were the "good guys", they weren't liked by everyone.
    4. The planets
    5. The soundtrack
    6. Now that I'm older and understand them, the politics, the reason for the creation of the CIS, etc.

… Darth Maul? Yeah, Darth Maul and all of the fights that he was involved in.

I believe that's the only thing that I liked about that movie.

Yeah, it was bad. When you think of how good Ian McDiarmid was in the ROTJ, you'd think they'd be able to build some compelling non-action scenes around him.

The giant battle on Geonosis in AOTC blows me away every time, especially when the droid control ship comes crashing down and the clones and droids are obscured by dust and you see their blaster bolts flying everywhere.

I remember having to pick me jaw up off the floor after that scene in theaters.

I always thought the interior shots of the Jedi temple were nice as well, although I think a lot of them didn’t do justice to just how massive it really was.

Kashyyyk was lovely in ROTS, and I don’t just say that because I am a huge Wookiee fan.

The music in TPM is amazing too, especially during the duel of Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul.

In 1999 I was 8 years old during the release of Episode 1. The prequels are literally my generation of Star Wars movies. First and foremost I loved the upgraded visual and audio quality of film, hands down. The prequels probably influenced my interest in politics. Darth Maul was an epic villain. Podracing... need I say more on podracing? Watching Anakin turn to Darth Vader. The classic battle of the natives against tyranny (Ewok & Gungan). The Wookies & Kashyyk! There is so much to enjoy in the prequels.

Well, this is the aeternal opposition. What is that ?
    Is that a half-empty glass, or a half-full glass ?
Yes of course, there are so many amazing things in the prequels! But there are also so bad things! So the main issue is : what is to consider?
For my part, I prefer appreciate what I have, rather than regret what I could have had :) this is why I'm posting here in this topic, and not in the "what is bad with the PT/why GL is a moron/what is your best compilations of PT fails" and so :)

The prequels did what Lucas has always been capable of doing. World-building. Creating a rich and accessible universe fans can get lost in for decades. The movies themselves may not be directed very well, with many problems, but they still accomplished the task of expanding the SW universe, and keeping the phenomena going strong.

I like Darth Maul and Ewan McGregor.

I like Mace Windu's purple lightsaber.

I like saying this line at random times, "You were the chosen one!"

I always thought this lady had a cool look to her, and now I know why.

I'll bet if you posted this to Reddit there'll be some Youtuber hack making a video about "SIDIOUS HIDING UNDERCOVER IN RESISTANCE ALL ALONG! EP 9 SPOILERS!"

I actually like the Prequels a lot, agree with most of the original posters points. The world building particularly, but there are lots of cool characters. I think because Star Wars became so popular and was so successful it is often overlooked that George Lucas is in fact an idiosyncratic film maker and to me the Prequels have a really individualistic streak about them. Near the start of the Phantom Menace, they go to the Hidden underwater city of the Gungans, to me this sets the tone. Star Wars isn't the same as a modern action movie, exciting a sense of wonder is integral to it. Lucas' sensibility is very romantic and rooted in the 50s. Dex's Diner is another indicator of a kind of 50s futurism.
I like the early Sci Fi, Van Vogt, Simak, a little E R Burroughs or EE DOC Smith, large screen with fabulous settings adventures taken into space. For me Lucas is the only one that has really succeeded in putting this into film and so he's a weird anomaly of having a futurism invested in the past.
I feel like with cgi and the money he had he could finally do the kind of weird film he had in his head, sure there is some hammy acting (50s loved hammy) but overall the story is good, the settings are fantastic and they are simply a visual feast. I also like that they created the setting for the great TV series Clone Wars.

    This is a great topic/thread!

In another topic, I listed quite a few things about what I liked about The Phantom Menace. Here are a few more: The Duel of the Fates! The concept of using a shield in a ground attack (later reused in The Black Panther). I liked the inventiveness that George used when using the major lifeforms of a whole planet as part of a symbiotic circle. I thought that was pure genius.

So, what did I like about Attack of the Clones? Death sticks! A chase scene through the underbelly of Coruscant. An opening scene where we fly upwards instead of downwards. Obi-Wan trying to find a missing planet. Yoda and the younglings. Loved the glimpse of the Coruscant night life and the Sports/night club, as well as the cameo of Anthony Daniels and Ahmed Best out of metal and digital/makeup/costume. Loved Kamino and the chase and fight between Obi-Wan and Jango Fett. Loved all of the plotting by the Sith to take over the universe. Even though the dialogue could have been much, much better, I liked the fact that Dooku at least tried to recruit Obi-Wan. Liked that Obi-Wan had his own droid (R4). Loved Dooku's curved lightsaber handle and his proficiency with dueling. It was great to see Yoda and catch a glimpse of what he really could do in a fight! I thought that the Jedi starfighter was pretty cool, good model design. At the time, I really enjoyed the sneak peak of the Death Star plans. The music of John Williams was brilliant, as usual. Loved the scene where all of the Jedi are in Palpatine's office and Yoda gives him that look as he's walking away. Liked the Senate meeting scenes and Bail Organa. I thought that the new actors that played Clegg, Owen and Beru Lars all did a fantastic job. Enjoyed returning to Luke's old stomping grounds in A New Hope. But Dex's Diner stole the show! "Jedi by the looks of him" LOL

The music, in my opinion, was better in the pT than in the ST. At least so far.

AOTC had some good stuff. Actually all of the PT had good stuff. And, as others have said, I think TLJ makes it look better. :)
