I base my reviews on how I felt during the movie and while I was walking out.

With R1 I was entertained and I left with a good feeling.

With TLJ I was massively underwhelmed and felt there were too many weird/random parts. I left confused and a bit disappointed.

Structurally, TLJ doesn’t hold up under scrutiny the way RO does. If you ask too many questions, TLJ starts to not make any sense. Why does the First Order chase the Resistance at slow speed instead of just using one of their ships to jump to hyperspace and cut them off? Why doesn’t Admiral Holdo just tell Poe what’s the plan of escape instead of ostracizing him to the point of mutiny?
There’s too many dumb script blind spots in the TLJ, which is a damn shame because if it had been better thought-out and paced, it would have been better than Rogue One. RO is solid, but the themes it covers are very basic and don’t especially challenge the expectations of the audience the way TLJ does. They’re both flawed, but at the end of the day RO is less frustrating.
(Also Rogue One’s Environments feel so satisfyingly Star Wars-y, with legacy aliens to boot. TLJ’s Canto Bight sequence could have been set in any old sci-fi franchise, and that rubs me the wrong way)

Rogue One actually gets better with repeat viewings whereas the last jedi gets way worse.

Rogue One is all right, a little wonky and patchworky, but a whole lot of fun and cool fan service. The Last Jedi is a cinematic master piece with awesome acting, an interesting and unpredictable plot, high tension and a great message.

Both, both is good, although TLJ is far FAR better.

Canto Bight was TERRIBLE. You could cut that big, fat turd out of the flick and it wouldn't change a thing. The aliens in that sequence looked off as well. Pure crap.

Rogue One is so far above Last Jedi for me, that it would be like saying ''who do you think is better: Jar Jar Binks, or Din Djarin''.
