    Coco.

Cute story, mind blowing animation, and memorable characters. Liked it except for Miguel, the main character, who doesn't seem to have a character arc or any character development. But living in San Antonio I can certainly see my friends and neighbors in the character stereotypes. 8/10.

Second viewing of Infinity War it held up better then I thought it would never w I know what happens Thor & Rocket are definitely my favourite team up. It now definitely my favourite Avengemovie & probably comes somewhere in my top 5 MCU movies.
It was unusually quite in the cinema normal the first Saturday showing of a big blockbuster film at my cinema is packed. It will be interesting to see how packed SOLO is when I see it there in 2 weeks.

A friend of mine watched Solo a week ago and the cinema was completely empty. Solo is leaving the cinemas in Germany right now...

Last movie I watched: 'Shangai Knights'
Not as good as 'Shanghai Noon', but still a lot of fun. I really want a third one, but that will never happen.

I loved Jessica Harp's cover of You Really Got Me Now during the closing credits!

    Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Again, what a great movie. Probably the best comedyfilm ever made!
Sam Neill rocks as Hec Faulkner and Julian Dennison is awesome.

i Loved the directionstyle of Taika and the beautifull landscapes of NZ we got to see.

It's a really funny movie, with some heartbreaking moments. The movie has great acting and the directing style is awesome.

Hear me (2009). Romance movies from Taiwan isn't what I normally watch, so this was an interesting experience.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is ridiculous B-Movie magic.
It knows what it is and revels in it.

The general premise of a Jurassic movie post-Jurassic Park is preposterous. How would any sane populace allow this to happen TWICE? Let alone FIVE times? So, go be goddamn ridiculous with it. Own the fact that this is weird.

    The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934).

It's old. It's slow and a tad clunky on getting going, but it's impressive how well it holds up once it does get going. It takes a long time to get out of what we think of as Act 1 (the set up) today.
Until you get used to everyone's roles (the characters' roles in the story, that is), It's also a tad confusing since it's supposed to be a mix of British and French characters, but everyone speaks with no attempts to seem different from each other. This is a bit further confused by the fact that some characters are British characters who are pretending to be French, while other characters are French characters simply played by British actors. Sometimes a scene opens during Act 1 and you're not really sure if the characters are supposed to be French, be British pretending to be French, or just simply British being British.

Without some behavioral or audible note, it gets confusing as to when we are supposed to assume people are speaking French or British, and unlike American WW2 films which have the same issue, there's no real costume mark that can be used to easily tell characters apart outside of the military characters in uniform.

That said, this is a great watch for seeing the great predecessor to all spy and plot twist films (not very twisty by today's standards, but still well done).
Once the set up is done, and you get used to who and what everyone is, the film really starts to roll and the energy and tension it has is pretty impressive; especially considering it's designed for an audience speed that's over 80 years old.

Actually better than some films of the 50's.

It's also a little uncanny how much Freddie Prinze Jr. looks like Leslie Howard. It took me half the film to try to figure out why I felt that I had seen Leslie Howard recently...which is impossible.

    Cheers,

So, yeah, say what you will about Rian Johnson, but at least his sequel to a major franchise is somewhat original and very unpredictable. This one is neither. Replacing Trevorrow with JJ now seems like a 100% correct move.

I've watched "Ocean's 8". That's usually not the movie I would watch, but there is nothing else in the cinemas right now.

The movie was okay at a max. The editing and soundtrack was interesting, but the plot wasn't smart. At least compared with Ocean's 11. There was such a big plot hole which I don't understand how this could happen...

Here is a list I've watched lately

Solo - Seen it twice and thought it was fun and hope they make another one.

Death Wish(2018) - I loved the original. but this was as good, imo. Only thing was it was a bit slow.

12 Strong - Reminded me in ways of Lone Survivor. Was a decent movie.

Den of Thieves - I thought this was one pretty good and intense.

Jurassic World 2 - Such a fun movie! I have been hyped mostly because of Blue and was pleasantly surprised by how likeable Bryce and Star-Lord are in this one. The cgi was decent... Yes, the plot was tissue-thin, but that's okay.

    Ocean's 8.

It's fine. It's okay. It's an excuse to spend 90 minutes with Cate Blanchett and Sarah Paulson.

Seen two horrors recently. The first one was Thelma, a Norwegian film about a girl from a highly conservative family who after moving to a big city discovers that a) she's homosexual and b) she has psychic powers. The other film was Hereditary, a tale of a deeply disfunctional family which tries to escape from clutches of a recently deceseased grandmother. Thelma was really solid and I can definitely recommend it to everyone. Hereditary, on the other hand... I have a problem with this film. It is incredibly well-made - acting, direction, script, cinematography - all of these aspects are genuinely great. My main problem with this film is how it treats its characters and it does so in a cruel way. By that I do not mean that it's gory or anything, but the tone of this film is disturbingly dark and unpleasant. It's like the film is a game of Sims where the characters are the Sims and the player is a sadist who derives a morbid sense of pleasure from tormenting these characters. Long story short, Hereditary left a bad taste in my mouth.

Either I've miraculously managed not to hear about this release or they're doing a terrible job of promoting it because this is the first I've heard of this movie beyond the initial "they're planning on making an all-female Ocean's movie" rumor a year or two ago. I haven't seen a trailer, TV spot, interview or seen/heard any other mention on television, internet or word of mouth. In fact this post was the first time I saw the actual title of the film. Glad to hear it wasn't too bad, I haven't seen one since the first and I heard they went downhill fast after that one.
