i feel the same way about the First Order. XD

 

I mean I'm not opposed to some First Order love either. Bring on all the stories about the "bad guys"

 

i really enjoyed the heck out of Inferno Squad even though it went to some weird places, it was just such a great overall story.

 

I think I've read the complete New Canon, other than the new Thrawn novel, that is. I wonder if there's an obscure book somewhere which I haven't read yet, but I've checked every list I've seen.

 

I'm looking forward to diving into that one and the other Battlefront novel.

 

Inferno Squad was decent. A fast read, too. Yet, to me, no Star Wars novel has gone to weirdest places than Dark Disciple.

I'm pretty new to the whole EU, (only started after Rogue One) So at the moment I'm only reading Canon before I delve into Legends, although a friend of mine did give me the entire Heir to the Empire Trilogy

 

Ive been reading Rogue One Catalyst. Pretty good book even though the beginning took a bit long to get through for 100 pages. Im almost done with the book. Got a 100+ more pages to go. Then after that I have these books to read

@HuskyRunner Have you read "Phasma"? Great insight into the FO. Personally I think Cardinal is the most intriguing character in that novel.

 

couldn't agree more with every point here.
sadly, i thought this book was a mess.

other than the Armitage/Brendol thing, i don't like anything about it. : o p

 

After I finish my mountain of canon books I'll probably never be able to get out from under, does anybody have any recommendations for books that focus on the bounty hunters? Pretty sure there aren't any canon books that cover this so legends works too.

 

I've got a learning disability that makes it difficult to read, so it's probably easier to list what I HAVE read, which isn't much:

It can be frustrating because too often they release books faster than I can read them.

 

As the year comes to an end, I've switched to reading older EU material since there seems to be either a lack of nu-cannon stuff that catches my eye, or I've already read it. I'm happy to see another Thrawn book will be out next year, but I'm sad there is nothing so far by James Luceno, one of my favorite authors ever. I'd also love to see them bring in R.A. Salvatore, but I digress.

I'm in the process of finishing the latest Thrawn book, but for some reason I don't like it as much as Zahn's other books. I'm not sure what it is.

I'm also reading Vector Prime from the New Jedi Order. Darn that is one heck of a book.

Finally, I'm looking forward to the Qui-Gon Jinn book in the new year, and I need to pick up the new Qui-Gon comic this weekend.

 

I just finished reading this, I found it very good, great cast of characters, fascinating alien bad guys.

 

I've been slowly going through the EU in chronological order (not all books but I'm trying to read as many as I can) and reading the new canon books at the same time.
Currently finishing Legacy of the Jedi in the EU and starting Master & Apprentice in Canon.

 

I recently finished "The Making of Star Wars Episode I" by Laurent Bouzereau and "The Making of Star Wars Episode III" by J.W. Rinzler. They offer a very valuable insight into how and why the prequels were made the way they were.

Other Star Wars books that I love are of course "The Making of Star Wars," "The Making of the Empire Strikes Back," and "The Making of Return of the Jedi," all by J.W. Rinzler. I also got a lot of value out of "Skywalking" by Dale Pollock and "The Secret History of Star Wars" by Michael Kaminski. I also really enjoyed reading "The Art of the Force Awakens" and "The Art of the Last Jedi."

As you can probably tell, I read a lot of non-fiction.

I've enjoyed reading "Star Wars" novels, but none of them ever resonated with me to the extent the films, programs and games have. I remember reading Timothy Zahn's "Heir to the Empire" trilogy back in the 1990's, because I was so hungry for "Star Wars" content. I read Chuck Wendig's "Aftermath" trilogy, "Phasma," "The Legends of Luke Skywalker," and "Canto Bight," and was a little underwhelmed. I was desperately searching for a fuller context of the world depicted in the Sequel Trilogy, and felt I only got a few nuggets of relevant information. I'm sure the entire new canon is consistent and this literature may take on fuller meaning with the release of IX, but I didn't find what I was looking for when I read them.

I did, however, really enjoy "Bloodline" by Claudia Gray. It was a very engaging read, and I felt it really helped me understand the transition of the galaxy from Episode VI to Episode VII. It also probably helped that it was primarily focused on familiar characters, unlike some of the other recent novels.

I will be first on line to buy "The Making of The Force Awakens" and any other books like that about the Sequel Trilogy once they come out. Apparently J.W. Rinzler wrote "The Making of the Force Awakens" years ago, but Lucasfilm has kept it off the market. I'm assuming because it likely contains spoilers for Episode IX. Hopefully the book will be released soon after the release of IX.

 

Have you read the novelization of Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover? I listened to the audiobook and it blew my mind; that's also the one that got me interested in Star Wars books in the first place. That novel and James Luceno's Labyrinth of Evil (a lead-in to Episode III) + Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader (immediate aftermath of Episode III) is probably my most favourite trilogy of novels ever... Audiobook versions are just amazing.
