But Solo was largely what the contingent of upset TLJ fans wanted.
And it failed. So if anything should be the takeaway...don't give those fans what they want

It's like reaching the division championship with the GS Warriors. It could be cool with another franchise but this one is meant to be at the top.

No matter how E9 does, there will be no RJ trilogy but this post raises and interesting (and separate) point. What would it mean for E9 to "fail"..? Would $500M domestic and $950M worldwide be considered a failure? What's the cutoff?

Just raising an interesting thought experiment... obviously there isn't one single correct answer....

Anything less than $700 million worldwide/gross, would be considered a failure, so $500m gross/worldwide would be a bomb, complete utter failure, however; $950m worldwide would be good for the franchise.

$500m domestic and $950m worldwide would be beyond great, and I'd say the franchise is healthy, no worries, Star Wars is good and well... here comes RJ's Trilogy!

Solo proves that you have to make a film critics and the general audience want to see. Most hardcore Star Wars fans went to see Solo. I know a few casual Star Wars fans who didn't see Solo who loved The Last Jedi. They didn't go simply because they weren't that excited about the film and the reviews were mixed.

Fortunately Solo wasn't a disaster. It's good, but not great. Marvel has had a few films like that, but this one stands out due to all the production issues. Lucasfilm needs to make sure their directors can manage a drama free production. With these films struggling to capture the attention of the Asian market it's going to be tough for them to have too many mistakes.

As far as episode IX.... it'll easily pass TLJ in box office unless the film is a critical disaster.
    Thanks for that negative rating!

Reports? What reports? You can't link to a guy with 0 credibility and call it a potentially true report.
This is why they use him as a punchline.

There are 0 reports from vetted trades saying anything remotely close to this

Yep. Because that's how most trilogies work.
Unless there is a true stinker in the middle, the third one always shows an upswing as people want to see how it ends.

Calmdown RR, I linked to MZ as a lighted hearted move. I listen to credible sources like the Hollywood reporter, Variety, and Deadline, etc. :D

so i heard a rumor that Mike Zeroh and Rian Johnson are actually related to each other and Disney pays Zeroh's bills as long as he keeps making star wars rumors up. if they like what he spews out they have permission to use it.

Seriously? I don't mean to be rude, but... like... come on, already? This is conspiracy theory stuff, and a dumb one at that. Of course Disney isn't paying anyone for making Star Wars non-content. Mike Zeroh earns his money by duping fans into clicking his links. DON'T FEED THE LIEMONGER, PLEASE!

It is when your "speculations" are described with words "Leaked Deatails" and "Potential Spoilers."

if you correctly predict something it could be considered a POTENTIAL spoiler.

I would be fine with MZ if he, 1) sited his sources, and 2) presented his videos as speculations. He does neither. MZ tries to peddle his lies as "truths", and "breaking news", and "scoops", and whathave you. His hits rating is extremely poor and "potential spoilers" are never news; never ever, EVER.

    No... I can't... I just can't go head-to-head with another MZ defender... It's beyond taxing... I'm out.

I don't get it... Star Wars fans should hate that someone tricks them into creating revenue for them by lying to the fans, and lying about Star Wars news nonetheless. Why people like this I cannot for the life of me understand. Civilization is doomed. :'-/

I'm just playing Devil's advocate. I have no opinion on Mike other than that he is a fellow star wars fan.

He seems pretty passionate about star wars to me. and Youtube's monetization program is awful. if anything, he makes like 10 dollars a year from ad revenue.

I think the Variety article mentions that his current movie project is suppose to start production in November.
