    this is also the only shot of Kylo Ren with his hair sticking out of the back of his helmet, which never happens in the film.

    ... Which I kinda dislike. It looked cool with his hair sticking out. It's also much more relastic for his character. He wouldn't care and wouldn't make his hair fit the helmet.

    Hair was probably tucked into his tunic for the final look in the film. Likely wasn't worried about it in the photo shoot. Either was, was and still is a cool picture.

    In this shot it looks like he has some kind of balaclava on, but I don't know why the hair is sticking out at the top. I assumed he wears the same thing that stormtroopers have under their helmets. As for braiding - I don't know why did they bother if he could just wear that goofy cap. :p

    On a side note, the black neck piece disappears when he takes the helmet off in TLJ. :p Huh, it's like Batman's eye makeup.

    he's very likely not wearing the helmet at all (to keep his hair Barbarino-perfect).
    i can't see the video you posted, but i'm assuming by the title you mean that moment when he removes the helmet on the bridge.
    the shot always struck me as an illusion to make it look like he's lifting the helmet off, but he's really just pretending.

    we very clearly see the back of and under his helmet in the prior shots to know that not a strand of hair is intended to be poking out.

    Yes, Han's death scene. First you can see the hair sticking out as he lifts the helmet a little bit and then it cuts to close-up where he finishes taking it off. Yeah, it's illusion, the second shot is definitely a pretended one. :p
