Alright, needless to say I jumped when I heard the news about D&D coming to a GFFA as a huge Game of Thrones fan myself. However, we know chances are John Williams will not do the score for these films - separated from the main Skywalker family drama saga - so I would definitely love bringing Ramin Djawadi to work on the music for these films.

He is a great composer, the music of Game of Thrones is one of the things that has contributed heavily to the success of this TV series, and I think he could deliver greatly as part of this saga.

What do you guys think about this?

I hope so, he would be a great fit for Star Wars. The way he integrates songs into his Westworld score makes me think he'd be great at taking established Star Wars music and making it new.

His music is brilliant and JW is not going to be working forever, so one would think it makes sense, but I'm afraid that would overstretch it with the GoT comparisons and take away attention from the fact that it is indeed Star Wars. Imagine that there would also be some actors from GoT too. The memes would never end. But maybe that's a good thing. Go take a look at social media comments - every other comment makes a reference to nudity and violence. Almost like Michael Bay jokes for explosions.

i think that with what he has done in the last few years (and it's some list by the way), his name would have been in the hat for any big production imo.. regardless of Beniof and Weiss coming on board.

i'm so excited by the fact that they are looking for talented people, and bringing them in to make films and tv shows that are practically oxygen to us lot.

i couldn't care less about comparisons to this or to that. whatever they do.. ppl gonna hate, hate hate :D

For those who are not familiar with his work, here are some of my favourite pieces (taken from a KCRW live performance):

    "Mhysa"

I could see something like this if we see something like the origins of the Nightsisters or the Mandalorian clans.

    "Truth"

This theme is poignant yet melancholic, and beautiful.

And I could quote a list, his themes are really good.

I think the ones commenting that haven't read a ASOIAF book. GRRM sometimes is even more detailed in the R-rated stuff. And also we have to consider that they made a great job adapting a saga where most of the main characters are underage and going through R-rated stuff.

It never ceases to amaze me that he got away with it with today's outrage culture. I have read the books. Maybe it's because certain group's don't read. Further proof that we want to experience such stories secretely.

I love Djwadi's stuff on GOT, but I think he really hits it out of the park (pun intended) in Westrorld. That "Runaway" cover in the new trailer is amazing, and he had some other really good stuff last year.

Exactly!!! When one realises Daenerys real age in the first book is 13 going on 14 whereas in the show is 16 though Emilia Clarke was around 22-23. Having a girl that age portraying the character would have been shocking.

His work with Game of Thrones goes without saying, however I also enjoyed his work with the Iron Man & Pacific Rim soundtracks, and I absolutely love what he did with both of the Medal of Honor reboot soundtracks.

Honestly, it would be a missed opportunity if Disney didn't try to enlist Ramin Djawadi as a composer for at least one of these films.

I'm not sure about Djawadi. I have to give his works a closer listen, but from what I recall his composing style fits the modern trends and modern film/TV music in general is a far cry from what we're used to in Star Wars. I obviously can't claim I know about everything he's capable of. Maybe he would surprise me, who knows. Based on what I've heard, though, I definitely wouldn't pick him.

On a semi-related note, I'm not looking forward to any kind of reinvention when it comes to music in Star Wars. There's a lot you can do within the framework established by John Williams and I believe future Star Wars composers should not deviate from the classic approach.

You are absolutely right. As someone who works in this field, I can say that his music does not fit at all with John Williams style, from a style and technic point of view. Of course is possible that he can imitate Williams style, as Michael Giacchino did in Rogue One. But there is much better composers for that task (as Giacchino or Alexandre Desplat, who is probably still the closest option). Also, I'm not completely sure about that... but what it really needs is William Ross. He has work in loooooot of the John Williams works ad conductor and orchestrator (that's the really important thing here). His work with the scores is one of the reasons John Williams always sounds John Williams, and he was orchestrating in Rogue One, probably the main reasons it really sounds John Williams style.

I really like Djawadi, and he is doing amazing work in Game of Thrones, but he is more in the line of Hans Zimmer, it's a compeltely different way to understand the music. Of course, maybe he is capable to copy the style, but... Williams is really inspired by post-romantic music and XX century music (from Wagner to Stravinski), while Djawadi is much more influenced by minimalism, "pop harmony" and electronic development. It just completely differnet styles. But I preffer Star Wars keeps closer to the Williams style, keeping the leitmotivs (asociated music themes to characters and places) already created by Williams and the way of orchestrate.

In a word: YES! I love the GOT soundtracks. Every year it seems they get better and better. This season had some of my favorite individual pieces. "Against All Odds" is fantastic. So was "Light of the Seven" from the season before last.

That didn't even cross my mind until now, I'd be super into hearing his score and sound included in SW.

Not a Huge fan of Ramin Djawadi's work and personal don't feel that he fits Star Wars. I'd like to see John Powell become John Williams Replacement for the Star Wars films. John Williams worked with him on the Solo score and I love everything that Powell has worked on (Kung Fu Panda, How to Train your Dragon, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Hancock). I think Powell captured the Star Wars feel with his music. A few others I'd like to see get a Star Wars project are Patrick Doyle (Thor, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Hamlet), David Arnold (Independence Day, Quantum of Solace, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader), Bruce Broughton (Rescuers Down under, Harry and the Henderson's, Honey I Blew up the Kid), and James Newton Howard (Treasure Planet, Hunger games, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, The Dark Knight). i would also love for Michael Giacchino to get a second chance at a film or become the composer for the Madelorian Show. He is known to be a TV show composer for shows like LOST, ALIAS and FRINGE. Plus he composed Rogue One which is a sold Star Wars Score.

Yes, Michael Giacchino needs to come back! However, The Mandalorian has its own composer in the form of the amazing Ludwig Göransson ( Black Panther ).

But, hey, on the bright side, Michael Giacchino might be able to do the Cassion Andor Series for a return back to that character which he worked on back in Rogue One!

Speaking of the B&W series, really have no idea as of now but it'll be possible that either one of the past composers will have a good chance of scoring or we'll pick a completely new talent to helm the music process of the B&W series from start to finish.
