Well, given how much money I've thrown at it... yeah, I totally agree. It makes me giddy every time I think about it.

My wife and I finally saw it and I'm glad we did since I really enjoyed it. It pretty much went the way I'd read about from other viewers. Takes a bit to get going, but then it was lot's of fun, and got me a little more excited about SW again. I wasn't actively trying to avoid this movie, but I'd be lying if I said TLJ didn't affect me, and all I've ever known in the movies or books in my head, was Mr. Ford. Alden did a decent job, although he is a register higher, but when Lando first spoke, it was dead on. I would definitely like to see more Han adventures, but I feel like they would be better served as an Original Disney streaming movie after the BO. If you are holding out 'because' - definitely catch it before it leaves the theater. It doesn't deserve the numbers, but there is nothing to be done about it now.

The guy behind me said, "it was better than I expected" as we walked out. There was a total of 5 of us in the theater. I even saw the TPM several times, and it had more people after several weeks. Sad to see SW like this. Kudos to Ron Howard, I hope you do more SW movies!

Mainly because of The Last Jedi and what it did to Luke. Apart from this I was never super excited about a Solo standalone, but may have given it a try without the TLJ desaster.

weird i'm seeing Solo advertising every where, I dunno if its different where I am, while i wouldn't say it was the blanket coverage that you got with Last Jedi, i'm certainly still seeing a lot more Solo stuff then the average summer blockbuster.

I would say their does seem to be less Solo merchandise available though.

After TLJ I lost quite a lot of the SW enthusiasm. Add to that the fact that I consider these standalone movies as some sort of money-grabbing fillers which add very little to the whole universe and the result is that I haven't seen the Solo yet. Rogue One was quite nice service for fans, but Solo (and without Harrison Ford)... I didn't care much about it from the start. Add the TLJ mess to the equation and the remains of any interest are killed. And those rumors about the possible Fett or Lando movies - meh. Maybe the Obi-Wan one could be somewhat interesting, but that would be all.

I don't even plan to spend any money on it (that's the only "voice" they really care about). I'll eventually see it some day (most likely once it hits some TV station), but the days when I was thrilled to see a new SW film seem to be gone. I still read the news on what's going on, but feel pretty indifferent about all that now.

I hope that the current situation will lead to some reconsiderations and reshuffling at the LFL and will cause at least some things to change for the better. Their notorious production issues, obvious lack of any sort of vision as for where to go - it was inevitable...

The only Disney Star Wars I have seen is the Force Awakens and that put me off, I thought Rey getting force powers with no training from a Jedi master undermined the lore, it made the Force a comic book super power. Also the failure of all that had been achieved in the RotJ undermined those movies. If you were going to have the Empire reborn as the First Order, Han turning back from a Rebellion hero to a smuggler his relationship with Leia failing, Luke failing to set up a new Jedi Academy and running away, then you needed to tell that as a tragic story not have it casually assumed before the action even begins. To me it seemed like Star Wars hadn't survived the transfer from Lucas. Also as I loved the Prequels so I didn't have the kind of optimism that I think many had because they felt disappointed in Lucas and were hoping for a return to form. I have heard plenty about TLJ and nothing that I have heard has made me want to see it. If anything Solo might be the Disney film I would consider seeing, but I have no eagerness, if I see a second hand copy somewhere I might pick it up.

I'm not intentionally avoiding Star Wars in any way. The Last Jedi did kill a lot of my enthusiasm for these new movies. I still love Star Wars, and plan to see Solo, just probably not in a theater.

Believe me I am no fan of TLJ and I understand how TLJ can kill enthusiasm, but Solo is not TLJ. It is a fantastic movie that remains true to the universe within which it resides. I recommend seeing it in the theater.

I had initially stated in late December I would be giving Solo one shot on a matinee ticket.. since then my view of the franchise overall has grown dimmer.
When I saw the Friday audience score sitting at 54% on RT I was done. That was Ghostbusters audience score on the same day. Everything I've heard has only confirmed it was right call to make, not the least of which was hiding the SJW character in most (at least all the early promo stuff I saw) of the promotional work.
Any and every extremist covets a captive audience. Whether it's Christian fundagelicals demanding that "hell" be preached at a wedding or SJWs forcing you to sit through pointless Animal Rights activism in a movie you just paid a lot of money to see, the extremists wants an audience that can't leave without negative consequences. KK era Star Wars films are now just that. If you want to see a new Star Wars film, you have to sit through the SJW message.
    No thanks.

I have no idea why I haven't seen it, I really don't, and I can't be bothered to find out either. I liked the trailer, I was thinking about seeing the movie (before it came out), but now I'm just not interested. And I don't even care why I'm not interested, it's like my interest level for anything that has to do with this movie is lower than 0. It must be the work of the force, and who am I to argue with the force? lol But I do avoid spoilers, just in case I'm in the mood to see Solo sometime in 2030.

Funny I should stumble into the forum today to find this! I took my daughter and her boyfriend to see Paramore in concert on Friday night.....(don't hate, Paramore freakin' rocked and brought out my inner teen girl, which admittedly isn't that hard to do.)

It was mentioned during the evening that they hadn't seen Solo yet.

She mentioned she had heard mixed reviews of the film, but what she had really heard was that it was under-performing at the box office. I told her I had seen it thrice (once with the wife and once each with my two Kevins) and that it was a fantastic film. They promised to go see it on Sunday (today) and they just texted me from the theater that they are about to see it.

I sincerely think that if Solo had come out first instead of Rogue One it would have made bank. BANK!!! Most of the reviews have been good, but some section of the population just has it in for all things SW. Which is a shame.

They are going to keep making the films, for sure. But hopefully they won't shy away from taking risks that sometimes work, and sometimes don't.

I'd probably put Solo at the top of the food chain as of today, but that always changes. It was the most fun I'd had at a Star Wars movie since the first Guardians of the Galaxy flick.

The takeaway here is that Paramore rocks. They rock. The new record is an 80's pop tour-de-force which cannot be understated. Even now, I'm trying to understate it, and yet I fail to do so.

(as an attempt to maintain my musical creds: My favorite bands are Wilco, Frightened Rabbit, and Matthew Sweet.....who is not a 'band' in the strictest sense.........but Paramore did rock Raleigh, NC if only for an evening.)

    We live in weird times.

I didn't much care for the new U2 album (and I'm a HUGE fan). I just don't listen to it much. What I don't do is create thousands of accounts to bash it all over the interwebs.

I'm a busy guy. I can't understand how so many mooks have the time and energy to actively hate on a franchise. I mean it's not a passive endeavor. These guys literally and actively hate a series of movies.....well, at least some of them.

The Kelly Marie Tran social media story was disturbing because she seems like a nice enough chick. But some basement carp somewhere probably had a good laugh over it. Personally, I think it says more about them than it ever will about her.

This soapbox is making me dizzy. (steps down and continues grubbing on Cheetos.....fade to black.....roll credits.)

O.K.., here I go...it's been awhile. I did not go see Solo in the theaters because of the Last Jedi, which I didn't go to see either, but was "forced" to watch on the plane trip coming off my vacation. I didn't like it...actually hated it so much I stopped watching it about half-way through. My feeling was that Disney didn't really care about it and allowed RJ to totally mind-fu...oh, never mind! I stayed away from Solo with a vengeance and did not dare entertain the thought of buying the Blu-ray, until my cousin (who is only a fan because as kids I made him go see all the SW movies) told me that Solo was really good. Well, yesterday I went to Walmart and bought the Solo DVD. I sat down and discovered...I FRIGGIN LOVED IT! When it was over I HAD THE BIGGEST SMILE ON MY FACE!:) I felt "good" when the credits were rolling, which is one of the earmarks of a SW film. I had not felt that way since Rouge-One. Was the film perfect? No, but is sure was head and shoulders above the Force Awakens and Last Jedi...I don't even consider them to be Star Wars. So, for me Disney is made two great SW films and two duds. I hope they make a Lando film...I WILL GO SEE THAT! Late to the game, but Solo is worth the price!!(han)(chewbacca)(lando)(falcon 2)

I feel the same way. For me Rogue One is the best of the Disney era films, followed closely by Solo. TFA, while I really enjoyed watching it at the cinema, is the sort of film that hasn't (for me)aged well. TLJ.... not gonna go there. Suffice it to say I've preferred the one shot films to the saga films under Disney. So much so that I'm quite disappointed they are supposedly not going to do more one shots.

I recently saw Solo for the first time. There were a bunch of reasons why I was close to a year late to the party (not excited to see a non-HF Solo, not excited to see a Jedi/force-less movie that didn’t add much color to the story (as opposed to RO), and general SW fatigue (not tired of it per se, but just ready to bolt out the door to see anything with SW attached to it)). But the biggest reason was how disappointed I was with TLJ. If I loved TLJ, I probably wouldn’t have been as fatigued with SW.

Now, I wasn’t boycotting or anything, I just lost my excitement for a while.

Now that I’ve seen it, I really enjoyed it! It was a really well done fun film!

It wasn’t mind blowing and it didn’t have the grand mythical feel that the sagas have (or at least I expect them to have). But that’s OK. I’m starting to understand that the non-saga movies might just be “fun flicks” and not really get into the mythical side of exploring the nature of the force and the Jedi/Sith conflict. Now that I’m realigning my expectations I think I’ll be more excited to see the next one!

I have not seen it yet and I don't plan on it, either. Not for any negative reason, I just don't feel the need for it. I "know" all I want to about Han Solo, already. I am not interested in what he was like before I met him in the cantina on tatooine. I'm ok with not witnessing his wonder years, or Lando transferring the title to the Falcon over, or the day Han started his bromance with Chewy... I've already gotten the best of Solo, I don't need the rest of Solo.
