As much as I would love the idea of Thrawn as the antagonist to Obi-Wan, the actor confirmed on Twitter it was just for a fan-film:

It’s ‘possible’ that’s just a deflection, but I think that would just be wishful thinking on my part.

Thats the problem. For a Kenobi film to be important and good it needs to be wanted Ewan or not. In reality people want a Kenobi because they want to see Ewan in the role again. We really should want a good story.

My guess, if we every get a Kenobi stand-alone movie*, is that it will be held off till after Ep.IX and before whatever the next trilogy is, just to keep from confusing people who can't handle out-of-order movies for Star Wars.

*By the way, Collier's report did not say the anthology movies were scrapped; they said the aSWs movies were put on hold. There is a big difference here and unless SWNN have additional information (which they very well might), then I'm afraid SWNN inflated the crisis with a rather clickbaity title... I think it is very quite likely indeed that we'll eventually see a Ewan McGreggor-Kenobi film, and furthermore I believe LFL/Disney knows this is a premise that would be favorably greeted by the vast majority of fans and even many casual movie goers. :)

As of now, I won't believe that we will ever get a Kenobi or Fett film ever... fool me once never again... put on hold, yeah right. Unless I see a teaser trailer for an OB1 or Fett film I'm not falling for that again. Mangold's Fett would have been great btw and McGregor might be Guiness' age by the time they take the standalone off HOLD.

According to Jeremy Conrad of MCUCosmic.com, this movie is still happening & they will start production in 2019.

I wanted to link to his tweet, but it got deleted. So here an image of it.

I don't know how reliable this outlet is, maybe someone here knows more about him / the outlet.

For now, i classify it as a rumor, but thought it was interesting to share here with you all (especially since the tweet got deleted after 15 minutes).

I like it. I think ot would make a better sub plot. Assasination by ANY Jedi doesn't seem like the Jedi Way. Unless a Jedi like Mace Windu with a dislike for The Jedi Way like Anakin and later Luke. I like better the prospects of taking the Dagobah dream sequence for Luke, and turning it into a reality. I mean I think Ben and Yoda where always skeptical that a young Luke may never pull off defeating his Father. Yoda says in Empire. Through The Force THINGS you will see, Other PLACES OLD FRIENDS LONG GONE. It could very well possible that dream at The Tree where Luke encounters Vader was REAL!

Thoughts on ObiWan film: What if Han and Chewie where friends with the crew of The Ghost and introduced Kannan Jarus to Sabine and all the rest after his Jedi master Jar Jar Binks is killed by Darth Vader on Kamino?

I can see it. Kenobi said: NOW The Jedi are all BUT extinct. I'm sure it was emphasis on BUT.

I think he was referring to himself and Yoda. Not that I wouldn't be open to the possible appearance of Jedi Padwans attempting something, with the whole revenge is part of the dark side aspect, so off the top of my head Obi-wan manages to intervene at the last moment and they don't follow through on the plan, but disband instead, thus saved from the dark side.

Just read the news that there will be six hour-long episodes. I was initially rather sad that there would be no Kenobi movie, but this might be even better! I'm absolutely hoping for a Force ghost appearance of Qui-Gon Jinn and expect some scenes with Luke's foster carers. Other than that, I have no idea what the show will be about and somehow don't have very high expectations. Nevertheless, I'm ridiculously looking forward to it!

I really want to see Obiwan's reaction to seeing Vader in the black armor for the first time. Something like him seeing some imperial propaganda that shows Vader and mentions him by name. This would also serve as confirmation to him that Vader didn't die on Mustafar.

The argument could be made that he knew that Vader survived because he never sensed him die through the force, like Leia knew Han had died and Rey and Leia knew that Luke had died, BUT.... Wasn't it a thing that the dark side can hide it's wielders from the light? Isn't this how Palpatine went undiscovered for so long in the presence of so many Jedi?

I hope we get to see Kenobi fight A’Sharad Hett, so that Darth Krayt can join the new canon.

Revisiting ANH just, you know, for december, I really think Obi-Wan series final shot will be him saying "Hello there" to R2 after healing Luke with his Jedi touch, but from behind him, behind the hood, with the same exactly sound music and effect, same scenario, same landspeeder floating around, and R2 in the shot, in front of us. And then black screen and tears of joy.

The Mandalorian has made me hungry for this series. I really can't wait to see this one as well.
