There is a dedicated base of fans who are pushing #MakeSolo2Happen all over the internet this weekend (being the 1 year anniversary of the movie), and even Ron Howard responded. I would love for them to make a Solo Sequel, but realistically it will probably never happen. But I love that there is a cult fanbase out there who love the movie, and think it got short-changed for various reasons last year.

You know that that hashtag was created by our podcast guys, right? Specifically @John Hoey? They were advertising MakeSolo2HappenDay since Celebration and when it finally hit, people really took to it. You might want to check SWNN twitter from 2-3 days ago. :)

I just watched their podcast and realized they were the ones who got the ball rolling. Ron Howard and Jon Kasdan responded so who knows.....

Unfortunately, they don't have any say in it.

But, more then anything, I personally enjoyed positivity about Star Wars for once. Lately, I have a hard time getting past all the petty negativity and this was lovely.

The one thing I have noticed is that the Standalone films don't get the widespead hate/arguments like the PT and ST debates. I think fans have a 'take em or leave em' attitude towards the Standalone films, so the only ones debating/care about them are the fans that like them. Where the Saga films still tie into the OT and everyone feels ownership to them so that is why they are so controversial.

I can't think of 1 Solo or R1 thread that has gotten toxic on this site or overall, but any PT/ST thread is going to find the Pro and Anti crowd somewhere along the line. That is why I am more and more convinced that Standalones were probably the better route for Disney to take (in the long run) then making the ST. I know that the ST was a huge money maker (bringing back Ford, Fisher and Hamill was a reason to print $$$), but I think it hurt the franchise in the long-run because they really don't know where to go right now cause you those characters can't live on forever.

I think if they would focused on good standalone/stories from the beginning, it would have made less money, but strengthened the fanbase for the long-term cause it would have looked they had a plan. Plus I still contend that the standalones give them the storytelling freedom that the Saga movies don't allow. Right now all I hear people debating about Episode 9 is the return of Palpatine, how Luke Skywalker will be handled, and will Kylo be redeemed. All of these plot points were essentially in ROTJ.

^ While I have really enjoyed the ST so far and I'm happy they made it, even I can't deny that it has somewhat of a "writing it as they go along" feel.

Regardless, I agree with LadyMusashi. It was nice to have some genuine positivity with the hashtag. Even if a theatrical follow-up to Solo seems pretty unlikely, I hope they find some way to continue the storyline at some point, although I'm curious as to how exactly that'll manifest.

If a sequel to Solo does happen, I'll be there opening night.

I'd sure like to know what happens with Qi'ra.

I’ll be there for opening night too! I really did enjoy Solo, so I do want Solo 2 to happen. Plus I want to know more about Qi’ra too. I liked the character, so I want to see more of her. Even if it’s a series on Disney+ or in books.

Maybe if the rest of the Disney+ shows would be successful enough, they could make a Solo 2 (mini-) series. We can only hope.

It's not completely unfounded, since revivals happen quite often these days.

    (Thanks!)

I really hope it happens :)

But... I don't think there's too much interest in it, to be honest. There are SO much other stuff going on. I fear that the only way for this happen is that either:

    a) SW becomes so fantastically successful that Disney just cannot make enough films and greenlights everything on the board,

or, b) Alden Ehrenreich becomes a mega star over the next decade or so (and with luck he could, 'cause he's handsome and a brilliant actor), prompting Disney to want to cash in on his fame with a big splash Solo sequel.

Here's to hoping like Jyn hopes!

Disney + is a perfect place for this kind of content. Maybe not a blockbuster project, but certainly a + movie/series.

How about a TV series called "Solo and the Wookie," a modern-day sci-fi take on "B.J. and the Bear"? :D

Personally I'd be surprised if they don't do this at some point. They need original content for the service, and if done right this could be pretty darn cool. As a matter of fact, I myself would prefer to see a series on bounty hunters and the underworld than a one shot sequel to the film. A series could go into far more depth and have better character and story arcs.

We all know a lot of people who say they don't like the movie for reasons such as it being "poorly written," or that "Alden didn't play the part well enough." Whatever.

*Cough* I personally liked it though. A live-action backstory of his has always aroused interest within me. Let's face it, anything that I think is:

    1. Well-written/made
    2. Star Wars

I'm going to be a fan of and support. That being said, a second movie could be a great opportunity for progressing his character towards the classic A New Hope. However, at the moment I don't think many people desire this more than any other potential upcoming Star Wars film. In that sense, I don't support it to that extent either. What I've been yearning for the most is a film based on KOTOR or SWTOR.

I have no doubt in my mind that this actor still has a future with Star Wars-related content though. He's great!

I liked Solo A Star Wars Story better than TFA and TLJ.

And I thought Alden did great as Han Solo. I really really really hope we #MakeSolo2Happen

I think Disney+ would be a perfect place for a Solo 2 movie or a Solo miniseries featuring Alden.

But I'd still rather have a Solo 2 in theaters. Just seems unlikely as we all know

I would honestly rather have a Disney + series. And I'd also like them to get away from Han/Chewie and maybe follow the Crimson Dawn plot line, maybe a sort of intergalactic gang war story.

I'm glad people enjoyed Solo, and I love the spirit behind this hashtag. But for me, Solo just didn't do it. IMO, it has the quality of a mid-level MCU movie. Which for the MCU is fine, but Star Wars has a higher standard for me. This movie had the sorta corporate taste that I worried Disney Star Wars would have.
