Remember Max asking “who’s the girl?” And the scene getting cut?
Han saying to Leia “I have to tell you something” but not telling her that something?
    It could have worked.
And quite frankly, I can easily get behind the idea of two people loving each other that had problems in their marriage. It happens.
Han cheating or an husband cheating is something I can see happening, because.. it happens.
I can understand that far more that I could ever understand Luke almost killing his sleeping nephew.

It’s in the context of the IX movies saga that if true was pointless to say the least.

But it’s not true so... let’s move on

It was cut because we already know what he would say: "It's just a scavenger girl from Jakku waiting for her parents to come back." Something like that. This is later confirmed by Maz saying: "Han told me. Dear child, I see your eyes - you already know the truth. Whomever you are waiting for on Jakku, they're never coming back."

So, this scene was cut for two specific reasons:
    1) Repetition (we already know what Han knows about Rey)
    2) JJ's love for mystery boxes

But there could also have easily been, "She's from Jakku apparently, but... I dunno Maz. There's something about her that seems familiar."

That's not necessary because Maz gave that message minutes later. It would have just been a repetition and that's not how storytelling works (at least in movies). You don't want to repeat yourself because you have such a short period of time to tell a story.

There's nuance... a lot has NOT been said about Rey.

I really don't understand why everyone is getting so bent out of shape regarding this news when the big reveal in Episode IX is the love child of Darth Maul and Qi'ra. Of course the kid was produced through a surrogate sperm donor because Obi-wan sliced Darth Maul's lightsaber in two.

Apparently Lucasfilm has already commissioned E. L. James (author of the "Fifty Shades Of Grey" series) to write a trilogy exploring the origins of this new prodigy. "Episode LXIX: The Phallic Menace" drops in 2023.

If Rey is Han's kid it's with Qi'ra and the pregnancy happened BEFORE A New Hope as so not to upset fans by making them think he cheated on Leia. They probably meant to show Han and Qi'ra reuniting in Solo II: Chewie Goes To College before they mothballed it.

Agree. But I wasn’t trying to prove the “Rey is Han’s daughter” was the idea since TFA.
I was only trying to say that JJ could have used these details from TFA in retrospect to justify that
twist in RoS. That to explain why, imo, it could have work.
Looks like that’s not case regardless.

Yes, there has been a real lack of rumors lately. My main source has been making star wars.net, with both their website reports and weekly podcast. Unfortunately, they have a new patreon subscription and do not release any rumors to the public anymore unless you pay. Is there anybody here who is a patreon subscriber to makingstarwars’s podcast who is willing to share what you have heard?

I don't really think it's much of a leak, but recently there was an interview posted online with one of the film editors of TROS, Maryann Brandon.

She doesn't say much, but there is a short behind the scenes story, and she touches on how this film has been different than her previous experience with TFA. The rest of the interview is great too but the Star Wars stuff starts around the 24:00 mark and runs for a few minutes.

If Rey is Han Solo's daughter with some one other than Leia, it would have to be Qi'ra. Until he met Leia (whom he seemingly loathed at first), Qi'ra was the love of Han's life. She went another direction away from him toward self-preservation (and arguably to protect Han) at the end of "Solo." Despite their "breakup" at the end of "Solo," there was no question they still had very strong feelings for one another and she just couldn't see how there was a chance for a peaceful life together any more. I can certainly foresee a scenario where Han and Leia are separated... whether it be because she is exploring the Jedi ways with Luke, or Han has just been gallivanting around the galaxy as a racer/pilot or a smuggler again... and he runs into Qi'ra. Old sparks fly, things happen, but still they cannot be together because of whom Qi'ra aligned herself: the Crimson Dawn and Maul. That would also give her motivation to stash that love child on Jakku and away from her life with the criminal underground and such a dark sider as Maul. Protect Rey and protect herself from being manipulated more easily by the dark side.

In this scenario, depending on just how "separated" he and Leia were at the time, I honestly don't see why anyone would blame Han for having such a brief "relapse" into his old relationship with Qi'ra... The reason why I thought this rumor could have had some legs is that so far, the "standalone" Star Wars Stories haven't really been that standalone-ish... I actually anticipated and was pleasantly surprised to see how much they did tie into the actual Skywalker Saga:
    • Rogue One's explanation of the "weakness" in the Death Star, Vader's rampage, Leia and Tarkin's CGI appearances... and just ending right where ANH starts...
    • Solo's backstory for Han meeting Chewie, Solo's good-hearted assistance to the newly birthed "Rebellion" in the form of Enfys Nest (foreshadowing his actual help to the Rebellion in ANH), the Millennium Falcon's origins, Han's complex relationship with Lando, Darth Maul's surprise involvement and reveal, etc.
I really enjoyed Solo, despite its lackluster box-office performance, so there is a part of me that wants that backstory to further inform the ST. Quite frankly, I will be surprised if it doesn't... and I will actually be disappointed to a degree. The relationship with Qi'ra is an interesting one and I would like to hear more stories about her and Han, so involving them more directly in the conclusion of the saga would at a minimum be okay, as others have said, and could really be enjoyable if done right.

    Just my two bits.
