    Those were good moments!

I also enjoyed how well they played the whole "lost sword" bit, and I so appreciated they're rendering of Crowley's driving.
If I wasn't laughing, I was smiling. What a fun show! I might actually buy it on disc just to keep around.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

I am glad that both people who've read the book (like you) and people who didn't (like me), loved the show. I skipped it as Terry Pratchett was never my cup of coffee (that's MINE tea). On the other hand, Gaiman is and, after seeing the show, it seems Pratchett mixed with Neil just might be. I downloaded the book. ;)

Catching up on The 100 and I'm always impressed at how the characters have grown and changed. The Clarke from Season 1 still makes appearances in Season 5 but after all that she's seen and done, our protagonist isn't the All Loving Heroine she once was - cynical, jaded, and scarred, even her allies/friends have grudges against her.
John Murphey was once the friend everybody hated. The sociopath who simply wanted to survive. But by Season 3 he had grown. He had found love and loyalty. He had seen faith and gained true friendship. His motives hadn't changed, but he gained more to lose. His moments in the Season 3 finale (and the Season 3 finale as a whole) are some of the best in the series.
    Octavia...oh Octavia.
This show surprises me with how much they can change, and yet how little truly does. The illusion of change. It's interesting. I usually dislike shows like that, but The 100 (and The CW as a whole) makes it work.

Eventually I'll finish Agents of SHIELD Season 5 and Daredevil Season 3, and hopefully start Krypton and Cloak and Dagger. ...and in between all of that finish Konosuba...but we'll see.

    That's awesome.
I love that because of their friendship and collaboration things like this happen, because I'm the opposite. Gaiman isn't my cup of tea, but Pratchett is (almost done reading the entire Discworld series - just a few more books left to go), and so Good Omens was a great way to get Gaiman (whom my wife does enjoy).

I don't think it worked this way exclusively, but I kind of feel that for the dialogue between Az and Crowley, that they each took up the role of one and wrote the dialogue that way. I doubt it's strictly this way, but I have to say that it does feel like that - it feels like Gaiman wrote Az as Pratchett, and Pratchett wrote Crowley as Gaiman.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

Neil said that Pratchett saw his young, I-think-I-am-cool-but-not-really-self and wrote Crowley, lol. He even posted his picture from that time (I can't find it right now, but trust me) and, yup, dark glasses, fluffy hair, thinks-this-is-how-writer-looks Gaiman of that time just needed red hair. I wouldn't be surprised if Pratchett sneaked in other stuff only Mr Gaiman knows. :D

I know Gaiman snuck a bit back in the show.
He put Pratchett's hat and scarf in Az's shop and they read Pratchett in the film. :p

Only got as far as Episode 6 so far (the one with the bus incident), but we'll finish it this week.

Despite watching (and enjoying) both seasons of Stranger Things previously, Mrs Lazarus sadly isn't much of a genre fan. As a result I'm still trying to sell Good Omens to her and have only seen up to Ep3 of What We Do In The Shadows.

Started the 2nd season of Dark, a german tv series. A mix of LOST and Stranger Things, but in my opinion much better in everything. Great actors, great soundtrack, very interesting story with a good suspense.
I read that this series was created to last for 4 seasons.

Looks like Dark is quite popular here at the Cantina... Maybe I should give Dark a try after Stranger Things Season 3 in July.

I'm curious what this show is like, but yeah, as you said- it's depressing stuff.

@NinjaRen and I are currently watching Veronica Mars, Season 4 is dropping on July 23 on Hulu, season 3 ended 2007, and there also has been a movie in 2014 financed as a kickstarter project. The show has a quite devoted fanbase.

I've been watching the new episodes of The Handmaids Tale. It's a great show.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is back and it's not bad.

I finished the third season of Jessica Jones. It was much better than the second season, but not quite as good as the first. I think Jessica Jones season 1 is the best of the Marvel Netflix seasons, followed closely by the first season of Daredevil.

Thinking about watching Too Old To Die Young on Amazon. I really like Nicholas Windidng Refn. Have to find the right time for it. That kind of show requires the right atmosphere in my opinion.

I see Neon Genesis Evangelion is on Netflix now. Going to give that old show a rewatch.

Something else I saw recently was Russian Doll on Netflix. When it first starts, you're going to think it's just another Groundhog Day or Happy Death Day, but just keep watchig. It puts its own unique spin on it all and I found it very entertaining.

actually i think the 3rd season is to be the last: https://tvline.com/2019/05/30/monica-potter-sweet-magnolias-netflix-drama-cast/
"Netflix’s German-language thriller Dark will conclude with Season 3."

but i agree: i actually like it better than Stranger Things. : D

As a sideline I'm watching the anime "Monster" .
I'm only 7 episodes in, but it's an interesting and exciting show.

Dr. Kenzo Tenma is a young Japanese brain surgeon, working at Eisler Memorial Hospital in Düsseldorf. Tenma is dissatisfied with the political bias of the hospital in treating patients, and seizes the chance to change things after a massacre brings fraternal twins Johan and Anna Liebert into the hospital. Johan has a gunshot wound to his head, and Anna mutters about killing; Tenma operates on Johan instead of the mayor, who arrived later. Johan is saved, but Mayor Roedecker dies; Tenma loses his social standing. Director Heinemann and the other doctors in Tenma's way are mysteriously murdered, and both children disappear from the hospital. The police suspect Tenma, but they have no evidence and can only question him.

Nine years later, Tenma is Chief of Surgery at Eisler Memorial. After saving a criminal named Adolf Junkers, Junkers mutters about a "monster." Tenma returns with a clock for Junkers, he finds the guard in front of Junkers' room dead and Junkers gone. Following the trail to the construction site of a half-finished building near the hospital, Tenma finds Junkers held at gunpoint. Junkers warns him against coming closer and pleads with him to run away. Tenma refuses, and the man holding the gun is revealed to be Johan Liebert. Despite Tenma's attempts to reason with him, Johan shoots Junkers. Telling Tenma he could never kill the man who saved his life, he walks off into the night, with Tenma too shocked to stop him.

Tenma is suspected by the police, particularly BKA Inspector Lunge, and he tries to find more information about Johan. He soon discovers that the boy's sister is living a happy life as an adopted daughter; the only traces of her terrible past are a few nightmares. Tenma finds Anna, who was subsequently named Nina by her foster parents, on her birthday; he keeps her from Johan, but is too late to stop him from murdering her foster parents. Tenma eventually learns the origins of this "monster": from the former East Germany's attempt to use a secret orphanage known as "511 Kinderheim" to create perfect soldiers through psychological reprogramming, to the author of children's books used in a eugenics experiment in the former Czechoslovakia. Tenma learns the scope of the atrocities committed by this "monster", and vows to fix the mistake he made by saving Johan's life.

@NinjaRen and I just watched the trailer for Season 1 and Season 2, first impression- it looks very German, especially because of overuse the gray filters (Germans love putting the gray filter on everything...), and overall it looks like a mix of IT, Stranger Things and a bit of Chernobyl... I don't know, it didn't peek my interest so far.

hahaha ~ totally true about the grey filter.
this is definitely a more grounded show in terms of what's happening supernaturally.
no evil demon clowns or tentacle monsters. but you know i'm not much into those things, so your mileage may vary.
hopefully you give it a chance sometime. i think it's an underrated show because of these flashier series around it. : D

Ah ok. 3 seasons. Thanks for the information.

Just finished the second season and it was mindblowing.
Hope they will keep the same quality for the 3rd season.

Watched the entirety of Season 1 in about three days at most. I want to continue but I need to take a break to prevent burnout. Maybe I'll get back into Person of Interest...(I really liked the show but never got past episode 5 or 6)

I've been on a murder mystery/mystery binge lately. I just finished Tabula Rasa on Netflix and it was phenomenal. It's a Belgian psychological thriller mystery, literally, the main character has Anterograde Amnesia (meaning they can't create new memories) and PTSD. It constantly has you questioning yourself and the main characters. Without spoiling anything, there are like 2 or 3 big twists that are so well done that it's set the gold standard for me personally.

Although a huge Trekkie (and no I won't say Trekker) who has seen every movie and countless TV episodes (TOS, TNG, DS9 and the first couple seasons of Voyager but nothing after that), I always planned to get around to TAS. More Kirk and Co. is always a good thing and I'd always heard that TAS was almost as good as TOS. As if it were basically the same show only it was later animated because of budget restraints but I find there to be quite a few differences. Mainly the stories aren't very well thought out. Basically just the most generic/standard little sci-fi plots that can be wrapped up in a 30 minute (minus commercials) cartoon. What was even more important to TOS than the writing, or maybe on the same level, were the performances. I think Shatner literally phoned in his role from the bed he just woke up in before he even took off his sleep mask. It sounds like Kirk on Valium. Everybody else seems to be trying a little bit harder but also seem to be reading the dialogue for the first time as they perform it. Overall it's a fun little cartoon and its enjoyable to see more stories from the TOS era.
