That one in the back is looking for her fish in the bag. "I think Betty stole my fish, and she's sharpening her knife with it!!!"

Rian Johnson's film Knives Out debuted last night at TIFF and the reviews so far are fantastic. I wasn't blown away by the trailer, but a film like this isn't exactly cut out for a good trailer. Based on what I've heard I'm gonna try to ignore any more details about the film. It sounds like one of those movies it's best to know as little as possible.

Of course it is great, though. It's a Rian Johnson movie; just look at his track record! :D

The future is very bright indeed :)

Sadly there's already a few YouTube videos complaining about the shill SJW reviewers. These people are beyond parody.

    Grifters gonna grift.
The grifters can't afford to not be on YouTube making "content" or how else will they pay for their stuff? Actually doing something useful? No thanks!

I haven't read all of any one review, I just saw some stuff on twitter. Oddly, what I saw was more political than actual praising of the film making. We will see when it is actually out and when the award season starts. It will have some heavy competition, from truly great film makers like Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, And Lee and Sam Mendes (amongst others). And I'm never one to care what a reviewer says, I'll make up my own mind.

And whilst I despise TLJ, I don't despise RJ. I wish the man success. I'm sure there are those out there who don't, but I'm not one of them.

The "everything is political" crowd always finds something to complain about which has happened with QT's latest film. Knives Out currently sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes so the reviews have all been positive and they've haven't all be political.

I couldn’t and still can’t wait for this, the positive reviews have made absolutely no difference to me personally(!). I liked the sound of it even before I saw the trailer, which just made me want to see it even more.

I would hope they haven't. Like I said, what I saw on twitter were excerpts and it was all political. I'd like some praising of the filmmaking itself. But I saw the same with The Joker, a film I'm truly excited for (Big DC fan here). The attacks on QT are BS. That film is.... Wow. Maybe my favorite QT film since Pulp Fiction, and I love pretty much everything he does.

Kind of like @Porco Azzurro I really don't care what critics say anyway. But unlike Porco I was actually excited for the film UNTIL I saw the trailer. That really made me go, blah.... We will see. Maybe the word of mouth will be positive and I'll end up going and enjoying it. I hope so. I enjoy the work of many of the actors on the film.

I didn't care for the trailer either, but it's not the type of film that it's easy to do a trailer for... they're marketing the cast and not the plot. I didn't really care for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's trailers either, but loved the movie.

Trailers are a weird concept really aren't they? Show you enough to get people interested, but not so much it makes seeing the whole film pointless... and there's a such an art and or science behind how they are put together/targeted... I'm sure we have all had the experience of loving trailers then not enjoying the film as much and, conversely, being unimpressed with trailers then being blown away by the whole finished film... One of my absolutely favourite films in recent years, the wonderful Alpha, had trailers that I would quite understand put some people off seeing it, such was the tone and impression they gave so horribly misjudged (IMHO).

I think trailers are probably most useful at just getting a sense of what a film will look like, from a cinematography point of view, more than anything else (not exclusively, but I'd say it was the most informative aspect of them at least). But maybe that's just me.

It's such lazy blast posting by Campea and Burnett.

Campea is just twisting things. Disney has 0 Star Wars movies in production in a tangible way. Then Burnett says TROS needs to do TFA numbers or it's a bad sign? GTFO with that blast. Then he goes on about how it needs to "make him see people walk on water" after.

What the hell even is that?

I really feel your frustration bro, but when are we getting RJ's trilogy, in 2029? Campea was right about Affleck. He maybe wrong about this, yet it feels sort of right to me, IMHO. :D Btw, I love RJ and TLJ, so I'm not a hater... haha just wanted to know if anyone else agree or disagree with this speculation... just curious... hehe sorry if I'm off topic can't wait for Knives Out... hehe. ;)

Here's the thing, he got duped by the "DudeBroMovies" or whatever their name is, fakereport. He's now hitching to this being somewhat true so he doesn't like looking like a total ass about it. He's done things like this before.

So even if he is "right" about this, it's not because he knows anything but because he has to double down on it because he blows up over every false report of this.

He still peddles lies about the Disney/Sony deal by claiming it was "all Disney's fault and greed!" while rarely if ever acknowledging that Disney offered to finance the movie up front for more on the back end. Which isn't a crazy thing to do.

For context about how far Campea has fallen the last year or so....(I say this as someone who used to really enjoy his content)
His show today is titled: The Buzz is Gone: Is the MCU Era Over?
What is this based on? Some study showing there is less excitement over MCU properties than a year ago? No. It's based on this tweet:

So yeah, the RJ trilogy may never happen. But it will have nothing to do with anything Campea knows or thinks he knows or "feels". He bought into the first fake reports and is now riding it.

Here are things that we know are true:

    - Lucasfilm loves Rian Johnson
    - The next Star Wars film project isn't Rian Johnson's project
    - The reception of that next project will determine future projects
    - If Rian Johnson or Lucasfilm decided to end their partnership it wouldn't be announced before Knives Out

I don't think Rian Johnson is interested in making a story about Luke, but that might be the only thing on the table if this D&D project fails. Lucafilm may also decide to start doing films with some combination of Rey/Finn/Poe if the new story film fails.

Yep. They need to see how people respond to non-Skywalker things. I think the Mando will play a role in it as well. The acceptability and viability of non-Skywalker related things, I anticipate it having the fewest amount of connections (outside of easter eggs) to date.
