I've heard good arguments that they could be Commando Droids and ARC troopers. I guess Walke has ruled out droidekas already.

Both Ben and Jay have confirmed that Droidekas are out. There was a slight leak where one was accidentally in a screenshot that was published, but it's since been said that while they were working on them at one point, they were cancelled due to them having too many problems with development.

He’s an absolute beast too. I played one round as him in HvV and leveled him up from a one to three easily.

Just had two very different Star Wars Battlefront videos on my recommended section of my YouTube homepage.

One was a complaint about balancing issues with Anakin in Battlefront 2 (2017). The other was gamaplay of a Battlefront 2 (2005) mod where someone added in a Mandalorian faction with a darksaber wielding Pre Viszla as a playable hero.

I feel like that's almost the perfect microcosm to demonstrate how vast the fandom of this series is. I can't fault people for wanting a competitive and balanced online shooter, but to me, Battlefront is about playing battles my way. I'd happily take sub-optimally (as long as they're playable) classes/heroes, as long as it came with a wealth of fantastic content. Like, can you imagine how deep you'd have to go through the Star Wars roster before Pre Viszla became a viable option- yet, how utterly rewarding that would ultimately be?

I get that Battlefront needs to have the standard stuff out of the way- it would seem silly if Hondo Ohnaka was a playable character but they didn't add Luke Skywalker- but Star Wars is so much bigger than the standard small cast of characters that EA seems reluctant to expand beyond. The past few months have been cool seeing the additions of prequel heroes, but all four of these characters shipped with the game in 2005 at launch. Like, it's cool to finally see Anakin, but isn't it kind of weird that arguably one of the most important Star Wars characters basically seems like an afterthought?

I get it- games are hard to make. I'm well aware of that, and don't at all envy the work that goes into even every single layer of these things. And when it comes to the details, Battlefront II really is a beautiful game. But, I just can't help but feel like it could be so much more ambitious that it really is, and so much more fun. And trust me, if I had no interest in the game or thought it was garbage, I wouldn't even care. But it just comes so close to being something I'd love, only to just not quite deliver. And that's so much more frustrating, to me.

New Community Transmission is live: https://battlefront-forums.ea.com/discussion/128692/community-transmission-capital-supremacy/p1

The new gamemode is "Capital Supremacy", and is basically the much loved "Titan" mode from Battlefield 2142, just without the flyable transports. The first map available at launch of the mode will be Geonosis, and is apparently a map that was purpose built for the mode, not the one from Galactic Assault. No additional maps have been confirmed or denied, nor were plans for additional eras. Heroes will be era era specific, so you won't see Kylo Ren or Lando running around on Geonosis. The mode, along with the rest of the update, will go live on March 26th.

There should be 2 more Community Transmissions left for this month. No word on what they're on yet.

DICE released both of the two remaining Community Transmissions today.

The first is on their changes to lightsaber combat. This one is pretty extensive, but the two points of note are that hero stagger has been removed and that attacking & blocking are now properly tied to the stamina bar. This means that lightsaber wielding heroes cannot attack or block indefinitely, once your stamina bar is drained you will be vulnerable until it recharges.

You can read the CT here.

The next, and last, CT are the patch notes for tomorrow's update, which lists a variety of bug fixes, ect. You can read that here.

I know it's a bit early to discuss this, but do you think will get IX content? Just like they did with Solo? On Reddit, they confirmed that they're not done. That said, I think it would be stupid to not do IX content.

I would love for them to add IX content! I also think it's very likely considering they did Solo (even though there wasn't that much added). I mean, IX is the end of the Skywalker Saga, if they didn't add content it would be a right let down and a missed opportunity for them.

    Hello, hello: More news!

The content roadmap for the coming months has been released, and can check it out here!

Short Summary: A new map for Capitol Supremacy will be released monthly from April to June. Heroes vs. Villains will be getting a rework in May. As of right now, the content roadmap only goes to June, and Jay, one of the community managers, has confirmed they are working on additional content not listed on the roadmap as they are not sure when they'll be ready. Ben Walke, the other community manager, also confirmed the new maps releasing over the next 3 months will all be PT era. No word on when we'll see additional eras added into the mix, but they are aware there is a demand for them.

    Other news:

At the moment, according to both Jay & Ben Walke, they have no plans to be present at Star Wars Celebration this year, however they will have a presence at EA Play (EA's conference that takes place just before E3) in June.

Also, the DC-17m of Republic Commando fame has been datamined from the game files. It does not have a weapon model, but can be modded to function in-game.

I'm hoping their "additional content" means they have some really cool heroes from the PT era planned!

According to Dennis, Battlefront 2's lead gameplay designer, additional heroes aren't as big of a priority now that they've released Finn/Phasma, Grievous/Obi-wan & Dooku/Anakin, and that their focus is on adding more maps, weapons & reinforcement types. That said, both he and Jay have stated that this doesn't mean they've stopped working on heroes, they just won't be releasing them as frequently as they have been over the past 4 months.

Thanks for posting this! Now I won't be as disappointed whenever they release patch notes without heroes! xD At least we'll be getting some new maps though, Geonosis is great but it's not the most aesthetically pleasing map. :p

New maps is always a cool thing (Capital Supremacy is the best thing ever!) but yeah, I'm also a little disappointed. We need Ahsoka :(
I think they can make up for it with new skins (Luke is a MUST).

    SEPTEMBER

"September is shaping up to be a great month. We have a new large scale map, two new ways to play, a new reinforcement, and a Community Challenge for one of the most requested appearances to date. We’re still a month away from release, but we’re currently targeting a deployment date of September 25.

Here is what we have planned for September.

    Felucia

The Separatists’ invasion of Felucia is nearing its end. With only a single, powerful vehicle left to cover the evacuation of a Felucian farming community, the clones struggle to maintain their last line of defense long enough for Republic transports to collect a large cache of valuable medicinal plants from the village.

As the droids advance towards the clones’ position, the squad chooses to go on the offense, destroying the dreadnought responsible for the attack. However, the droids have a plan of their own: Ensure the Republic can’t escape with the plants by bringing down their Venator.

Similar to other Capital Supremacy maps, Felucia is broken up into multiple areas with a set theme for each Command Post. Themes range from the traditional Felucian farm, a cave that used to be inhabited by an indigenous Rancor or the remnants of the mighty Sarlacc.

Felucia has been built from the ground up with Capital Supremacy in mind and is shaping up to be one of the best-looking planets we’ve built to date (if we may say so ourselves), and while we’ve been having a ton of fun during our internal playtests on it, we’re eagerly awaiting your arrival.

    Co-Op

In September, four player online co-op is coming to Battlefront. For this experience, you will team up with three other players (old friends or new) for a large scale PvE adventure. You can choose to play as either the Galactic Republic or the Separatist Alliance and partake in massive battles on all five Clone Wars planets in Battlefront II. Depending on what faction you've selected, the experience on each planet will be different. For example, the Droid Army will be invading the planet of Naboo, while defending if the battle moves to Geonosis. If you decide to play as the Clone Army of the Republic, the roles will be reversed on each planet.

In Co-op, all troopers, reinforcements, vehicles, heroes and villains will be available to play. However, the same is true for the AI, as the new AI system introduced in Capital Supremacy has been expanded upon to also feature vehicles, heroes and villains in co-op.

    Key info:

    • PvE Experience

    • Players take on both an attacking and defending role

    • AI play as attackers or defenders, including reinforcements, vehicles, and heroes(!)

    • Play as troopers, reinforcements, vehicles and Heroes

    • Available for all Clone Wars era planets to start
We will be inviting some fan favorite YouTuber Creators to try out Co-Op directly from gamescom, so be sure to keep an eye on their channels.

    Instant Action

We’re happy to announce that Instant Action is making its return to the Battlefront franchise, and we think it’s something a number of you are really going to like. Each month, we’ve seen the comments about a large-scale game mode that can be enjoyed within a singleplayer environment. We know that solo players matter and can confirm it’s real and it’s arriving in September!

In this mode, both teams are fighting over five Command Posts (similar to Capital Supremacy). Hold a majority of them until your team score reaches 100% to win the game.

    Key info

    • Single player large scale combat experience

    • Fight to control Command Posts

    • You fight alongside AI

    • You fight against a team of AI

    • The enemy team will be made up of regular troopers, reinforcements, heroes, and vehicles.

    • You can spawn on Command Posts using the Contextual Spawn system

    • Control a majority of the Command Posts until your team score reaches 100%

    • Able to choose to play as either light side or dark side

    • Can be played offline, without the need for an internet connection
At release, you will have access to all the maps that are currently available within Capital Supremacy; Naboo, Kamino, Kashyyyk, Geonosis and Felucia.
    Onwards

As we move through the remainder of the year, we will have new reinforcements, appearances, and a brand-new front menu system which allows you to play the era of your choosing.

We will also be working toward the release of content inspired by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

While we don’t want to go into the exact specifics (no spoilers!), we can confirm that we will be building a new planet and some new reinforcements based on the conclusion to the galaxy-spanning Skywalker Saga.

We’ll be back with more details on each of the above as we get closer to their release.

The next few months are an exciting time for the game and we’re incredibly grateful that you’ve chosen to come on this journey with us. We can’t wait to experience more of Star Wars Battlefront II with you!"

There is more info if you want to dig through it, but this is the most important info. YES TROS CONTENT.

I know Jedi Fallen Order is also an EA product, but I can't seem to shake the feeling that DICE is dropping all this content right before the release of Jedi Fallen Order.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 has disappointed me since its release. Once Jedi Fallen Order is released in November, if it's a good game allot of people will transition to that game and forget all about Star Wars Battlefront 2.

For one, Star Wars Battlefront 2 has no space battles, really bothered me. Its an ok game but I haven't played since the last update of Anakin Skywalker, I love Star Wars games so on September 25 I'll give Star Wars Battlefront 2 another try.

I'm currently playing Lego Star Wars TFA and I'm having more fun with that game then Star Wars Battlefront 2, there is something missing in that game... I truly believe that once Jedi Fallen Order is released in November and if its good allot of people will forget Star Wars Battlefront 2 so DICE is trying to save this game so late in the game.

I'm curious, about the content Dice will be releasing for TROS, though... we shall see, we shall see...

Where are you getting this idea that Battlefront 2 has no space battles? It's called Starfighter Assault.

HAHA, blast sorry haven't played the game in so long I forgot about that map.
    --- Double Post Merged, Aug 20, 2019, Original Post Date: Aug 20, 2019 ---
There was a Star Wars Battlefront game, I played on my Playstation hand held(PSP Star Wars BATTLEFRONT RENEGADE SQUADRON 2007 https://www.lukiegames.com/star-wars-battlefront-renegade-psp-game# a decent game I had allot of fun with) @Andrew Waples did you ever play Renegade Squadron? where you start the battle on the ground and you get in a ship and fly into space. Which was released years ago, so why couldn't DICE incorporate that system in the game? Maybe because it's like an open world game? Star Fighter Assault didn't do it for me as well.

Star Fighter Assault felt like another game within a game. Maybe we should get an open world Star Wars game. EA/Dice aren't making any Star Wars games I can enjoy. Maybe Respawn can make a better Star Wars game...

Anything from EA Star Wars Battlefront 2 from Gamescom?
