Thanks for the clarification, Keith. I was totally under the opposite impression. Thanks for clearing that up. Sooooo.... I guess we'll be going to GE next September!

When Disney was first unveiling their SW:GE plans to the public, there was a lot of talk about how SW:GE at WDW was going to be an "event" for the first few months it was open ("event" meaning a separate admission fee above the cost of the park ticket). While this was just a rumor, let's face it.... it was certainly a believable one. I am glad they didn't go in that direction.

There are several upcoming attractions at WDW I want to see, namely GotG and Tron. So I want to wait until those are completed before I take a major vacation to WDW. However, since that means waiting until 2021, maybe I will sneak in a day trip to SW:GE sometime later this year or next year when I visit my folks in Florida... the only problem with that is that I hate holiday crowds....

I didn't even know those existed, that's pretty cool!

So... how do you get them home?? I guess you could mail them, but if the TSA doesn't want replica explosives I can't imagine the Postal Service does either...

As far as I know, mailing is fine, but I personally don't think the hassle is worth it.

So something I did not know. Disney offers multiple annual passes at different price points for Disneyland and only the top 3 tiers (starting at $800) allow access to Disneyland June, July and August. This means that the most popular annual passes including the one that is only available for Southern California Residents were not able to use the passes for the 1st 3 months of Galaxies Edge life. Looks like the annual pass for Florida Residents at Disney World is blocking out Hollywood Studios until January.

I don't know about Disneyland, but Galaxy's Edge in Disney World opened today. Annual Passholder got a preview to Galaxy's Edge and could go in before it was open to everyone else. The Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Platinum Plus passes have no blockout dates for Hollywood Studios (where Galaxy's Edge is). However, the Disney Select pass (Florida residents only) does block out Hollywood studios for three months. There is another pass for Florida residents called the Weekday Select pass that is only good for weekdays and it does not have any blockout dates for Hollywood Studios.

Disney World is so much bigger and there are so many Disney resorts on site. There are 30,000 hotel rooms just at Disney resorts, not counting other hotels adjacent to the parks. Disneyland is over 500 acres. Disney World is 47 square miles. That's over 30,000 acres. Less than half of that is developed though, and is room for future expansion. Disney has 75,000 people employed at Disney World.

And the line to get into Hollywood Studios at 3:30AM went all the way to Boardwalk Villas. That is a little over 1/2 a mile according to Google Maps.

Disneyland had 18 million visitors in 2018. Disney World had 52 million in 2018. I think both Galaxy's Edge parks will be absolutely fine, but definitely the one in Disney World will be. I'm still worried it will be too hard to get in.

Maybe if I try to go Monday during a cat-4 hurricane? Lines should be short.

Rise of the Resistance is the biggest ride they've ever made, and will bring a lot of people too, and not just Star Wars fans. It will open in December.

Maybe you'll get a feel for what it's like to have a lightsaber duel on the remnants of the Death Star!

Currently a category-4 making landfall in central Florida around 2pm on Tuesday. Not going to lie, I'm thinking about leaving, but every update movies it a little more south. We will see.

I never really watch TV nowadays, but I had ABC on for background noise and the show “black-ish” was on and they were talking about Galaxy’s Edge. It felt kinda like an advertisement (makes sense since Disney owns ABC), but it definitely made my ears perk up. :p

Essentially what happened is some guy was trying to get someone to go with him to GE so he wouldn’t get lost “traveling the unknown on Batuu” or something like that. He also talked about drinking blue milk.

I see that I can post a thread about Galaxy's Edge after visiting it. Here I go:

I finally visited Galaxy's Edge at Walt Disney World in Florida. I enjoyed it very much. I thought the artistry was pretty good. But I was really impressed by the Black Spire Outpost marketplace. It reminded me of a mixture of Mos Eisley and the Ring of Kafrene in "Rogue One". But it also occurred to me that Disney should have constructed a separate Star Wars theme park. That way, the company could have incorporated all of the movies into the park, instead of the Sequel Trilogy, with traces of the other two trilogies. I didn't try any of the food there, but I did try the green milk. It wasn't bad, but I feel the drink would have been better if it had been naturally sweetened.

I was very disappointed that the only characters featured at Galaxy's Edge were Rey, Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, a First Order officer, stormtroopers and some woman who is a Resistance spy. What on earth happened to Finn, Poe Dameron and Rose Tico? Where were they? Especially Finn, who is the trilogy's other lead? I thought this was the only MAJOR failure on Disney's part. Major. And if someone tells me that they will be around after the opening of the second ride, it's not an excuse to me. They should have been there from the beginning.
