Well as always proves the case for me, Star Wars is best enjoyed the more familiar it becomes, which stems from all those years of only ever having the OT on VHS and watching them over and over and over until I knew every line off by heart.

Must have watched Solo about 12 times now and the more I see it the more I continue to love it, and by this point its total lack of fate-of-the-galaxy threat is actually the most appealing thing about it. I love just seeing the world building of Imperial-occupied planets and crime syndicates. I would love to see more low-key Star Wars films now, where it didn't have to be an event, where get to see some just some rollercoaster adventures with wonderful characters and more lovely world building. So glad we're finally getting live action TV, I'm hoping the Mandalorian will provide me with exactly that if low-key movies or a sequel to Solo are unlikely.

Anyway needless to say it's jumped up a fair bit in my ranking, which would probably be now:

    1. Rogue One - 9/10
    2. Star Wars (Adywan edition) - 9/10
    3. Empire Strikes Back (Adywan edition) - 9/10
    4. Solo - 8.5/10
    4. The Force Awakens - 7.5/10
    5. Return of the Jedi - 7/10
    6. The Last Jedi - 7/10
    8. Attack of the Clones - 2/10
    9. Revenge of the Sith - 1.5/10
    10. The Phantom Menace - 1/10

I love all of them, and some of this order can change with my mood, especially the bottom three (which feels insane to even be saying, because they are still amongst my favourite films). My reasons are a complex recipe of nostalgia, personal bias and experiences, visceral reactions and contemplative reflections, and I do not claim my order of preference to be either objective nor superior to anyone else’s. :)

With all that waffle said... ;)

    1. The Empire Strikes Back
    2. A New Hope

Looks like I have to do a SW marathon to give a qualified answer.
I guess I'll answer the next thread that inevitable will come to us.
Time for a wager? Will we have a Post-IX Film ranking thread.

My current Star Wars movie ranking goes like this:

    1st TLJ 10/10
    2nd ESB 9/10
    3rd ANH 9/10

    4th RotJ 8/10
    5th S:ASWS 8/10
    6th TRoS 8/10

    7th TFA 7/10
    8th RO 6/10
    9th TPM 5/10

    10th RotS 5/10
    11th AotC 2/10

(RO has fallen a couple spaces with my latest viewing while S:ASWS took a confident step up. Other than that, my appraisals remain the same, and TRoS swoops in with a solid 8/10 score in my book).

(I link to my previous, much more comprehensive ranking below for reference :) ).

I'm guessing that your favorite part of a movie is the second act, then the first act, and lastly the third act?

I dont know, let me see this. Never thought about that.

TESB love all the acts, same with TLJ.
    ANH first act.
    TFA first act
    ROTJ last act.
    R1 last act.
    TROS second act.
    TPM first.
    Solo second.
    ROTS second.
AOTC, is the second act mostly Obi-wan in Kamino? If the awnser is yes then is my favorite.

Maybe you're right in your analysis.

    ;)

It's not always the case, but if you see a recurring pattern of 2nd films in SW trilogies ranking higher, followed by 1st films, and finally 3rd films, then there's a fair chance the same person likes 2nd acts, 1st acts, and then 3rd acts.

Same goes for the other variations.

It's not 100% true, and someone has to have repeated film order picks for it to even maybe be true, but just from personal experience I have found it mostly a decent predictor.

    Cheers,
    Jayson
