I still wish that Fallen Order had a character creator or at least a more diverse character (such as an alien, woman, or POC)...

But all that out of the way, Cal's design is starting to win me over. It's definitely not bad, though I might have some trouble getting over seeing Ian from Shameless shivving droids with a lightsaber.

I too wish Fallen Order and other SW games would allow for alien skins like a Rodian, Irithorian, Twi’lek and more.

There's just so much to Star Wars' diverse universe that I want to be a part of!

Maybe whatever game they've got slated for 2022 will be a more customizable RPG.

Imagine a KOTOR-style game with the character customization of Skyrim (or other games that have come out recently).

I’ve been holding on to hope that a kOTOR III will oneday be made. Jedi Knight Academy allowed you to do some alien skins. One day we will have s game that allows me to make a Darth Taalon or A’Shadar Hett (Tuskan).

Got my Fallen Order just today too, thank you Mr Postman for delivering it early.

Been playing it for an hour so far. First impressions; it looks AMAZING, the post-Clone Wars world-building is utterly magnificent and it may be premature to say right now but so far it definitely feels like we've finally been given the single player Star Wars game we've all been waiting for. Absolutely destroys BF2's campaign within the opening level.

Further thoughts (so far) on Fallen Order...

It's very much a mix of all Star Wars, embracing it into one loving unison. A lot of people want to segregate areas of the franchise (prequels, OT, ST, animations, EU etc.) however this is making a huge effort to embrace it all together.

Within the two hours I've been playing I'm getting hints of KOTOR (exploring old grassy planets and fighting big lumbering indigenous lifeforms to get info on ancient Jedi mysteries), the Jedi Knight franchise (the holograms of the old Jedi master instantly recall Kyle's father in DF2 JK along with obvious gameplay and storyline similarities), the prequels (order 66, the Purge Troopers being based upon Airborne clones, scrapped republic/jedi/separatist tech still lying around including a graveyard of AT-TE's), Clone Wars (Republic police/Imperial gunships, Dathomir and the Nightsisters), *lots* of Rebels which I feel really helps cement that show as more part of the recognised franchise now we can see it's influence in a more realistic-looking setting (Lasats, creatures that look like Lothcats, jedi temples that require the force to open, the ethereal force plain where we can save our game and level up, inquisitors, a cameo of the James Arnold Taylor-voiced Obi Wan Kenobi giving his final holocron message with I believe has the exact same dialogue sampled from Kanan's scene here
), the sequel trilogy (a character choosing to cut themselves off from the force, an inquisitor of the Force Awakens species from the Maz's bar whom the collaborator is lying upon, what sounds like a new song by Shag Kava - as well as notable use of their lute-like instrument in an early scene), Solo (loading vehicles that recall AT Haulers, a huge set piece on a conveyex, the industrial shipyards dismantling Republic cruisers, a ship captain who seems very much Ardennian except in the face - is he?), the OT (stormtroopers, scout troopers, AT-STs, TIE fighters, TIE interceptors), gameplay that recalls much of The Force Unleashed, a slicing droid that acts similar to Battlefront 2... and I'm sure there'll be much much more and I'm only a couple of hours in.

I don't want to give EA too much credit, for me they really crapped in the bed with the Battlefront games (graphically and sonically incredible, but just multiplayer moneymakers and nothing more), but so far, I'm thoroughly impressed with how much love and care has gone into making this feel like a bridge between so much of Star Wars old and new. It literally feels it was made by people who love Star Wars as a franchise... hope I'm not wrong there!

Watch this space for more observations...

Your impressions are most appreciated. I am going to try and convince my nephew to buy Fallen Order so we can play it on his Xbox One. :D

Query? Is there multiplayer mode like Jedi Knight Academy? Where you can battle it out while customizing your staff sabers, Jar Kai (duo wielding), and etc?

No it’s sadly single player only I’m afraid, but considering EA can’t be trusted to offer multiplayer without it being an over indulgent mess of money making, I’m honestly fine with that haha.

The game’s very good, it’s not ground breaking in any respect; I imagine it’s very similar to games like Uncharted at times (never played those games though so going on assumptions there), however aside from a few exceptions, most classic Star Wars games were always a bit derivative of other genre titles just with a lovely Star Wars coating. This is very much that sort of experience, a true heir to the Lucasarts legacy and a very good one at that.

@Daddy_Stardust - how far into the game are you? My daughter has hijacked my copy and got stuck... I can’t find anything on google about how to get past it, so would be interested to know if you’ve completed Zeffo?

I'm on Chapter 5, just returned to Dathomir, I need to go do more exploring of Zeffo still but if I recall it's 79% explored on mine?

    What bit is she at?

She’s at some piston things... they’re one of those ‘only in a videogame’ things - they’d be utterly absurd if it were a real environment!

Anyway, her explanation was there’s 5 or 6 of them, you have to jump on the first two and then go down a passage behind the rest, but there’s nowhere to go when you get to the last one.

    Does that sound familiar?

Are these the ones smashing into the walls as if they're mining?

If memory serves, you just slow down the the final one when it's half way back out, jump up onto it and then up onto the next level. Remember it annoyed me for a while too if it's the same place.

That said, just wait until she gets to looking for Tarfful on Kashyyyk... seriously I thought I'd put in Crash Bandicoot for the amount of "only in a videogame" scenarios that creates. Really enjoyed the Imperial facility there with Saw Gerrera, however I found the rural areas utterly N64-esque in their level design. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but wow, it felt very very dated and out of place.

A liitle too much acrobacies but the game so far is really good and the story is deeper that anything Disney has done yet.

Maybe they should give the writing of the movies to the EA guys. SWTOR has awesome stories, both Kotor too and this one is very good.

Not to be too nitpicky or anti-EA, but Respawn gets the credit for that (as well as Bioware and Obsidian, for the OR stuff).

    EA is just the publisher.

I love the game so far (aside from fighting mechanics issues), but the story is fine. They've done a good job fitting it into that time period. I'm not sure what "deeper" means.
