Part of the objection is that we don't know what he's saying. It's like watching a foreign language film that's subtitled. Someone is speaking and you can read what he's saying. Then he says one more thing right before dying, but that word isn't subtitled. Wouldn't you find that frustrating?

I think he was just trying to be a smart ass. But you are right. Why do we need to do "research" for one word in a film?

    Well . . . you don’t. It’s an Easter egg.

You either: A. get the reference. B. don’t get the reference and go look it up or C. don’t get the reference and just . . . you know . . . live your life.

I’m not sure I get the stink. I think it was a funny add.

There wasn't a stink. If I remember correctly I said I thought it was funny. I wasn't bothered enough to look it up and just said I don't get it (didn't even understand what the word was) and just thought they should simply put it back to Han shoots first.

    No big deal.

Nah. The genie’s already out of the bottle. I think they should go back every 10 ten years and keep tweaking it - making it increasingly stupid and nonsensical along the way. It’ll be a fun little tradition. “Wow, they put Dewbacks in there this time!? That’s horrible . . . how awesome!!” :D

I said in an earlier post they’ll remove Greedo’s death so he can have a spinoff tv series called “Greedo is Good.” :D xD

    No.

I would do research to find out what the non-subtitled word was and what it meant.

    Han: "Over my dead body."
Greedo: "That's the idea. I've been looking forward to this for a long time..."

I'm not really sure there was ever any confusion over Greedo's intent - y'know, the guy sat across the table pointing a gun right at Solo.
I mean, he wasn't about to hand Han a bunch of flowers; I don't think that was what he had been looking forward to for a long time.

I can't really see how the scene benefits from another line of dialogue, it just breaks up the rhythm of the punchline.
    "Yes, I bet you have..."
    Blam!

Just my opinion, of course... ;)

It’s interesting in “Solo: A Star Wars Story” the writers didn't capitalize on Han and Greedo having a rivalry so that the line “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” could be explored.

Anyway, just coming back to this, but... thanks I guess?

Kinda would've been of the mind that it's totally cool to have an Easter Egg in film that isn't immediately accessible without a bit of digging, but I think discussing this stuff on a fan forum would more than suffice for "research", professor?

    (Seriously though, yeesh!) :p

That's a very good point, actually! And it would have beefed up the story a bit, as well.

Where would you go to do that research? So far, there's no place that I can find that tells you what Greedo is saying?

Do you believe that the audience should have to go online to find out what one character is saying to another? Especially when everything else that character says is translated for you?

Han shot first in my view but it doesnt really matter all that much to me. I enjoy the story. I think my prob is more with the whole ' Greedo misses by alot over such a small space' thing but really it's a space fantasy so does it really matter? But again I digress Han shot first in my view.

I took it to mean that he would do research on what phrases means in Quechua, (the real world language that Huttese is based on). I personally assume that this would be pointless, as I'm sure Ben Burt didn't use exact phrases but rather picked whatever sounds he like for most of his languages (although, there are some exceptions to this).

At this point, it's been edited and re-edited so many times that I'm not even sure if anyone shot first!

Han's story is a tale of redemption, it's about how a person can go from a smuggler to a hero. If he starts out killing bounty hunters after him, so be it. It makes his arc more powerful.
