After TROS, if RJ reveals that he is off Star Wars due to scheduling conflicts, what will really piss me off, is those that will all of a sudden claim that it was an OPEN SECRET all along.

We all know LFL loves RJ, because they gave him an entire trilogy before the release of TLJ.
After the release of TLJ, would it be wise for another RJ Star Wars film no matter how good it could be?
Now be advised, I would not own a copy of TLJ if I hated the film. I thoroughly enjoyed TLJ. I was the last one in the theater
enjoying the John William's score when the film ended. I have a copy of the novelization, I have a copy of the comic book adaptation,
I own the soundtrack, I own the Art of TLJ, I collect the Toys, Legos, model kits, etc.

I just don't believe he is still on the project even though LFL has confirmed he is still on it.

I was highly disappointed when Ben Affleck revealed that he was no longer Batman. He played along until after the overwhelming failure of Justice League.

Affleck played ball and I believe RJ is doing the same thing. I hope I'm wrong. I would like to see what RJ can do with a clean slate.

But Affleck was still actively doing Batman stuff. It's not an apples to apples thing.
If he came out right away and admitted he wasn't doing Batman anymore, Justice League somehow does worse. If that's even possible.

RJ and LFL have no real reason right now to drag out him being off the project. He's not actively promoting TLJ. He's not promoting TROS. He's entirely unaffiliated with LFL except for this project.

You can correct me if I'm wrong but I feel like Affleck didn't want to do it anymore and was actively trying to get out of it. Unless the abuse he's gotten has truly got to him, I get the sense that Rian Johnson still wants to make the films. That's why the rumor about him choosing to leave seemed like the least likely thing to occur, and it seems to me that if it doesn't happen it will be because of Disney and/or Lucasfilm pulling the plug and not him.

I just can't imagine many people wanting to get involved in future Star Wars projects with this level of pettiness. These losers are now brigading Knives Out on IMDb.

Shocking it is like trolls are deliberately trying to pull an audience score down.

First of all IMDB needs to adopt the rule that you can't review it until it comes out. Second, I'm going to be real curious about Rotten Tomatoes audience score (which I could see RoS getting entangled with too). I know they revamped the way they do it but I'm interested if there will be a difference between the verified score (people who they can confirm paid to see the movie) and unverified (which could be anybody). They say there isn't much of a difference but in this case I'm not so sure.

Also, I don't know if I said this before but if Lucasfilm parts with Rian Johnson, then I'd agree with you. If they won't stand behind a filmmaker that we know they get along with extremely well, then what filmmaker are they going to stand behind (and in my view Abrams doesn't count because he's so powerful in the movie industry that if Kennedy did try to fire him, then she definitely would be let go herself). Seems like with their track record, you'd have to be a fool or so desperate and have no other options, in order to want to take on a Star Wars film.

Stop it, Knives Out will do fine for what it is, and RJ ain't returning to Star Wars it just doesn't make sense. He is doing fine without Star Wars and will continue to do so. I'll watch Knives Out when it hits cable and Streaming.

What exactly are we supposed to stop?
This probably won't be much of an issue with Knives Out because I doubt many of these online morons will buy tickets just to vote. It could still be an issue for TROS since it only measure people who are motivated to vote.

Rian Johnson is a talented filmaker. I loved Looper and TLJ. All this whining about internet trolls trying to ruin Knives Out is ridiculous. Knives Out will do fine for what it is... Rian Johnson has talent, no one can take that away from him, and he will be a success going forward.

To get on the verified score which is the default, you need to have bought a ticket (through Fandango, I think). But if you go to more info, you can see the all audience score which basically like it was before where anybody can submit a score and there's no way to check if they've seen it or not. Again, they say there isn't much of a difference between the two (and most of the time there isn't) but in this case, I could see the one where anybody can submit a score vs the one where they can check that you bought a ticket being vastly different.

Dont know what you mean by whining. People pointing out that there is a group of people that simply are being childish isnt whining.

Rian Johnson's interview with Variety is mostly about Knives Out but there's some Star Wars stuff...

What’s the status of the other Star Wars trilogy you were working on?

I’m still talking to Lucasfilm. They haven’t announced anything.

There were some rumors that your film might be the one that’s coming in 2022. Is that true?

Every single day there’s a new thing. Until it’s up on StarWars.com, don’t believe it.

From David Benioff and D.B. Weiss to Colin Trevorrow, there’s been an enormous amount of turnover behind the camera on Star Wars. Why is it so difficult for directors to stay employed on these films?

I can’t speak to the experience that anyone else has had. I would caution that other people’s sets are like other people’s marriages. You think you know what’s going on with them, but the only thing that’s absolutely true is that you’re wrong. I can only speak to my experience, which was an absolute dream from top to bottom, beginning to end. From Kathy [Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy] to Bob Iger to J.J. [Abrams] to all the craftsmen.

When Benioff and Weiss left, there was chatter that it was due to “toxic fandom.” What was your experience like with that kind of trolling?

You always have to contextualize how small a part of the fandom that section is. I’m not talking about people who like or dislike a particular movie. I’m talking about the people who have dedicated themselves to abusing people who are involved in the films. It’s so small, but it gets blown up. Having been in the hurricane for the last two years, I can tell you that 95% of what I get even on Twitter is lovely and thoughtful and engaged, even when people don’t like my movie. Having said that, it’s a problem that every type of fandom is dealing with. It’s almost a byproduct of this system that is the internet.

Love him or hate him, one has to admire his attitude towards the whole thing. With as much verbal abuse that gets tossed around social media, one could easily imagine someone just not wanting anything to do with the franchise anymore. Instead, somehow, he's able to filter a lot of that out and focus on the better aspects of it. Kudos to him.

I saw Knives Out tonight at a sold out screening promo they're doing all over the country. It's a really good film. For fans of Rian Johnson films there's a little of everything. The cast is tremendous and I feel like he'll be revisiting this genre if the film is a hit. Daniel Craig is really good and there's a lot of room to discover more about his character if they make more.

It's not a film for everyone, but for those looking for a good mystery flick it hits all the right buttons.

Rian said he already has an idea in mind so I'm sure they'll do something in the future.

Knives Out beat its box office estimates this weekend and it's a hit by any measure. Pretty huge win for Rian Johnson after delivering a box office win with TLJ. I'll be curious to see what happens next. He has a fantastic relationship with Disney/Lucasfilm, but he just launched a new production company T-Street. Maybe he can juggle both things, but Knives Out elevates Rian Johnson to one of the best directors going right now.
