Daisy Ridley: "Star Wars...it means family." "The emotion of it all...making a film with people that you really love." "And this is the last one, like it's crazy." "The feeling on set is one of joy." "It feels like kids going on an adventure." "And it was fun because I hadn't properly worked with Oscar [Isaac] before, and he and John [Boyega] are hilarious." "But the legacy will carry on."

The Sun - NOT DAIS-ED Star Wars star Daisy Ridley insists she’s not scared by curse of Skywalker which hit Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher

Not bothering with the link it's a lot tabloid fodder on the Star Wars actors.

    Moving on...

ComicBook.com - Star Wars: Daisy Ridley Says It’s a “Shame” Rey, Finn and Poe Only Acted as a Trio for One Film

El Tiempo - Daisy Ridley habla sobre la nueva entrega de ‘Star Wars’

I think what the machine translations are getting at is that the movie explains to Rey and the audience why Kylo fell to the dark side and how Rey began alone on Jakku.

Daisy need not fear, there is no Skywalker Curse. Hayden Christenson has rebounded, as has Mark Hamill.

She is (probably) no Skywalker anyway and Adam Drivers seems to know how to handle that curse, maybe because he has too much of his father in him.

Q: J. J....I remember when Force Awakens came out I saw an interview with you and you said the real hook to get you to want to do this project was the question, 'Where has Luke Skywalker been?' Is there a similar kind of hook that got you into The Rise of Skywalker?
    J. J. Abrams:
Well it was...it was really because when Kathy Kennedy called to ask if I'd come on to do this, I knew it wasn't about beginning as it was with Force Awakens - beginning a new trilogy, introducing new characters. The thing that really grabbed me with Force Awakens was this idea there was this young woman out there who existed in a world where the films that we all knew was the history of the galaxy she was in, and the big question for her was, 'Is Luke Skywalker more than a myth? Could he actually be someone who existed?' In this one I would say because she clearly is discovering how powerful she is with the Force - Last Jedi clearly is about her training, starting - I guess the question in this is like what is all that training for? And what is she really up against? And that is a sort of personal and professional question for her and I think that the movie it very much plays out not just her own inevitability but if you look at all nine films I'd like to think that there is an inevitability there as well. Rolling Stone - Inside the Writing of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’

Q: How much of a story for this film did J.J. have before he sat down with you?

Chris Terrio: [...] Like, where can these characters come together? If they do come together, what would their interactions be? What new developments can we create politically in the landscape of the galaxy, or historically, or spiritually, when we think about the Force and the Jedi and what is known or not known. So we started in the most pure place. We acted like two kids who came in every day and were like, OK, here’s the thing that I wish I could see in the last Star Wars. Or, here’s a world that could be really interesting. Or, here’s something Rey might be grappling with.

Q: It’s no secret that this movie will tell us more about Rey’s past. One of the most interesting things that Rian Johnson did in The Last Jedi was make it clear that the Force belongs to everyone, even in the movie’s final scene with the kid using it to pick up his broom. So how do you add to her background without taking away from a message that was core to the previous film?
CT: I agree, that’s a really interesting thing that Rian did. It’s a democratization of Star Wars, saying that your lineage and your blood doesn’t necessarily determine who you are, and your past doesn’t determine your future. But we took those provocations as ideas that we could grapple with and hopefully expand upon in this film, because I don’t think it’s a dialectic of one or the other, where either you come from nothing or you are born royalty. There’s a lot of ground in between. Even [Kylo] Ren’s terminology isn’t… When he says “You’re no one” — well, what does that mean? Is that how Rey would think about herself? Does Rey even think of these questions? I’m trying not to reveal any story points here! There’s a Gordian knot in my tongue. I think those are really valid ideas that Rian put forth, but any series of films, especially if you have three, is a conversation — which is, as I said early on when I was talking to J.J., thesis, antithesis, and synthesis. If Force Awakens asks the question of who is Rey and where did she come from, and then The Last Jedi answered it with a negative in a certain way, hopefully The Rise of Skywalker will take those two ideas and create a third thing.

Q: How much of J.J.’s answers about Rey were already set when you sat down with him?
CT: Uh, that one I have to dodge a little bit… When it’s redacted, you know it’s the juicy stuff.

Q: Did you read Lucas’ unused treatments for these sequels?
CT: [Long pause.] That one I can’t answer. I do try to read everything that I can get my hands on. There are internet sites that have various drafts of the various scripts from the original trilogy. I devoured [one of those sites]. It probably would be embarrassing to look at the number of times that an address in Santa Monica, California, looked at that site. I wanted to gain that insight into the way that George was thinking, or the way that Leigh Brackett was thinking in her first draft of Empire Strikes Back. Those were superinstructive for me.

Looks like a bigger role than in TLJ is coming. Maybe more like Anakin in II and III or Solo in the Solo movie.

    J. J. Abrams: “To see the performance that Daisy Ridley gives in [Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker] it’s something to behold, I mean the range of emotion that she has to communicate in the course of this film is pretty vast and extraordinary and she just killed it. So I can’t say enough about all of [the actors], especially Daisy who is essentially in nearly every scene of the film.” (December 14, 2019)

Daisy Ridley: “It felt really, really sad [for me to conclude Star Wars]. Talk about exhausted with a two-month (60-day) shoot on ‘Ophelia,’ we shot for 100 and something days and I was in most of those days. I was shattered by the time we were finished. So in a way, I was like, ‘Oh, I just want to go to sleep,’ but I was so sad to finish [Star Wars]. I got to tell a great story and play a great character. And it did feel different this time. I felt more comfortable, and it wasn’t so: ‘Oh, I shouldn’t be here. What have you done? What have you done? You’ve got to find someone else who can actually do the job.’ It was nice to feel more of a steadiness in myself. There were days when I was like, ‘I can’t do it,’ but for the most part, I thought, ‘OK, this is right, I’m where I’m supposed to be.’ I just feel really lucky that I got to work with people that made me feel so good.” (July 2, 2019)

Daisy Ridley: “My main joy with this film is that Rey asks more questions. I did say one thing to J.J – and he did it which is great – is that ‘can you give me a monologue?’ Weirdly, in this film, I speak way more than I think I did in the other two. In the other two, looking back at them, I think Rey is being told to do certain things. She’s being told 'you’re this and this is your journey'. In this film, she’s asking questions so there’s already growth. She’s finding her feet and curious about things, not because someone else told her to be but because she’s asking the questions." (December 13, 2019)
