Thanks for the encouragement. I apologize for overreacting. What was said triggered some painful memories of people misunderstanding my motives. My family is very matriarchal, so I was raised with gender equality values and that women can do anything a man can do.

Welcome back, Kato Sai. I'm slow on the uptake on finding your message. We're discovering how much we like this new system of programing. I'm very happy we get an episode each Friday. Personally I'm thrilled it isn't once a month as it could have been, but I think Disney saw the light.

I was thinking about something the other day: We heard "This is the way" repeated several times within the Mandalorian cult as a mantra or motto. The way and manner it was said sounds pretty special within their culture and likely isn't used lightly.

Do you find it curious that the Mando said that phrase to Cara Dune?

I am not trying to argue that she is/was Mandalorian (because I don't think that) but I can't really tell if the Mando was just being cheeky by using that or it was something else.

He says it to the Widow too. I suspect its a benediction (blessing) he says when he talks about the aspects of his religion.

OK, guys, this is driving me crazy. Is this some kind of symbol on the Mando's right thigh armor, or is it just denting? If it's a symbol, what is it?

Remind me when he says it to Cara?

Huh. Maybe I was confusing the scene talking about the helmet rule between her and the widow. I thought it was around Cara's "That's it? So you can slip off the helmet, and settle down with that beautiful young widow and raise your kid sitting here, sipping spotchka?" line but nope. I re-watched the scene and he never says it here. My mistake!

I don't think it's a symbol... to me it looks like his old armor I think? The overall shape (and sheen) doesn't quite match that of his other leg. It's weird though because the shape to me looks raised, not dented. Just an impurity maybe?

I tried nabbing it another scene and just realized I can't take screenshots on my phone due to "security policy".... what the heck?? Anyone else get this from The Mandalorian / Disney+ in general??

Whew, I thought I missed something significant! I remembered when the Mando said it to Omera, and she just kind of gave him a look like "Okaaaay...?" and it fell flat.

I can't find any good shots of that piece either, and I have the same thing watching it on my phone--screenshots are just black. :(

It's weird that it wouldn't match because it's not the same as his old armor:

    mando.jpg

But I guess that old armor lost its integrity and he had to begin again. ;)

So my assignment is to go back and watch ch. 3 to see if anything happened to it there after he swaggered into the cantina with the new set! :D

Assignment completed! *laughs nervously* Of course I haven't been blowing off work for this. Pshaw.

Anyway, here's Mando fresh from the armory, and the weird mark is there...

it almost looks like a "scar" or patch of some kind.
not sure what to make of it.
could be the one piece of armor he wasn't able to replace yet?

Oooh, thanks for the nice close-up! I tried to see what that piece looked like when he came into Navarro with the bounty, but it's either too dark or the shots are waist-up.

In that pic it looks like it even has the same brownish color as the old armor. So I guess maybe that piece is the old scarred armor that just got a polish? I mean, if he didn't get new fabric for his clothing, he at least got his laundry done and his cape patched, so maybe he just had the Mandalorian version of a sartorial makeover. ;)

(So, now I'm picturing the Mandalorian covert as having individual cells that you can lock, so you can go in and do your laundry, sew your clothes, eat, sleep, shower and take off your helmet in privacy, but you don't get to come out until your stuff is dry and your can put your helmet back on. :p This is like Star Wars science. You can't think about it too much or you will go mad. :D)

Mando has a gf, Mando has a gf...sort of.

Was funny when the baby was chasing the frog, put it in his mouth then spit it out.

And it sucked that he was having such fun then had to leave. Anyway, good episode. Made me kind of think of Seven Samarui or something.

How on earth do you get to direct a massive Star Wars tv show episode? Simple. Make a couple of short films and be Ron Howard's daughter. This is a terrible episode. Completely out of character with the first 3. Awful story. Clunky dialogue. Feels amateur. I don't care it was directed by a woman. I care it was directed so badly by someone inexperienced.

This sure looks awfully trollish - especially for a first post. But I will give you the benefit of a doubt and respond anyway since I love talking Mando. First off, the director of an episode isn't responsible for an "awful" story or "clunky" dialogue. I disagree with that take but if you want to blame somebody for that, blame the writer, Jon Favreau.

The episode was never one of my favorites (and based on various fan ratings for Season 1, I'm not alone in that opinion.) Honestly, I think it had a lot to do with coming on the heels of one of the series all-time best ones: Chapter 3 'The Sin.' But that said, it's certainly not bad and I've come to appreciate Bryce's direction of the episode. She gave it a creepy 'Jurassic World' vibe and was also responsible for setting up one of the cutest 'fight break-up' scenes ever. :)

While her connections obviously played a role in getting her 'foot in the door' directing an episode of The Mandalorian, BDH clearly took the opportunity -- and ran with it! It's no coincidence that this 'amateur' director has been hailed by fans and insiders alike for the quality of her direction in episodes of Mando and TBoBF.

My crystal ball says she'll be in the director's chair of a Star Wars feature film someday.
