Minor correction, that was Elite Squadron. But you're totally right, it was such a good game! (Based on the original Battlefront 3 assets, too!)

Renegade Squadron was the first to have the customized classes, but it didn't bring much more to the table. There was an okayish campaign with Han Solo and the addition of hero starfighters, but that was about it.

Elite, in addition to its awesome ground/air/space/capitalship maps also had a really fun campaign, too.

Anyway... really looking forward to this offline mode. Hope it's good, because it might actually get me interested in this game again!

Hello. Have you heard the news? The developers also talked about plans for the near future. Soon, a new planet, Felucia, will appear in Star Wars Battlefront II. Her bright world of the jungle is specially designed for the regime of "Total Excellence". And the regime itself will continue to develop in accordance with the feedback and suggestions of the community. Who wants to play together?

    Huge update coming Wednesday!

The release of this game was kinda rough, but they have made some really great and very extensive free updates to it since then. It's not perfect, but definitely worth the low price it can be had for now.

Pretty impressive how well this game has been supported, even as long as nearly two years after launch.

Here's hoping the Instant Action is satisfying (and that the other maps come quickly!)

Us offline players have gotten the raw end of this deal for far too long.

Still waiting for my offline Galactic Assault... sigh. Haven't even played the game since I last posted about it... which I can't believe turns out to be June 2018!!! :(

Tried out Instant Action, it was ok, better than Arcade, however very limited and repetitive too, no AI vehicles... and no Empire vs Rebels. I just want something as fun and cinematic as offline Walker Assault again, it's not much to ask.

Just going to focus my attention on Jedi Fallen Order instead, I've lost all enthusiasm and hope for BF2 ever giving me anything to enjoy as an offline player who just likes to relax and have fun at my own rate when I play a game.

I agree. Also, don’t forget LEGO: The Skywalker Saga coming early 2020.

Really enjoying Battlefront 2 now, the game has drastically improved from what it was. The Republic Commando is my favorite character to use thus far reminds me of the game.

    Yup...

I feels like a definite step in the right direction, but when we needed a bit more of a "leap" instead.

This should've been the paltry mode we already had at launch to complain about :p

Seriously though, I'm happy we got this, but it's kinda depressing to think about how the very first Battlefront from the early 2000s is still a lot more robust and frankly cinematic than this.

This is exactly how I felt from day one. I don't want to knock this game too much, there have been loads of improvement since launch, yet for some reason my gut feeling is that in house studios (EA's Dice vs. Respawn) are competing for attention.

One month before the release of Jedi Fallen Order we are set to get a tremendous amount DLC. We are getting Farm Boy Luke with an upcoming Quest starting October 11 exactly one month before the release of Fallen Order.

We should've gotten this character a year ago. We should be now at a phase where we're getting characters like Ahsoka Tano or Sabine Ren. At this point, we're still getting a character from the first Star Wars film ANH.

This game is no longer a disappointment, yet the improvements have come a bit too late in the game.

The quest is to get 150 kills in CO-OP mode. You can play with friends or strangers. As long as you get 150 kills you get Farm boy Luke skin/appearance.

Ahh, I was hoping you meant more campaign content.

Kinda a bummer that the campaign ended on such a cliffhanger.

Lots of new stuff announced today.

Probably the most surprising, to me, is BB-8 and BB-9e coming to Battlefront.

Now, I want to be clear that this is cool. Anything added is cool, I can't complain. And I like BB-8.

But it also is kind of indicative of my frustrations with this game.

By focusing so heavily on a balanced online experience, rather than making an experience about experiencing Star Wars battles the way you'd like, we've quite clearly limited ourselves now. I mean, look... cool as BB-8 is, do you think there are maybe some Star Wars characters that fans would've liked to have seen over BB-9e? Any at all?

And on top of that... heroes are all supposed to generally be balanced with each other. So is BB-8 going to be roughly equal in threat to Emperor Palpatine or Luke Skywalker?

Again, not complaining about what we're getting, but just pointing out how this update goes to show how antithetical this more competitive approach to Battlefront is to Star Wars as a series.

Next time, please just give me the battles the way I want.

BB-8 as a hero? BB-8? So we'll be able to fight Darth Vader as BB-8.

Does that release on April 1?

    January, I believe.

And again, I think it's neat we'll get to play as BB-8, but it just feels weird for the more competitive vibe this game is going for.

    Final major update is out.

As a single player fan, it's probably the best offline update yet. Age of Rebellion coming to Instant Action is great, but the Attack/Defend game modes are surprisingly where it shines for me.

Offline content for this game has, so far, felt like such an afterthought. Arcade, the fighter mode, the trickle of Instant Action... it all felt so weirdly paced. The new game modes actual work pretty well, though! Like, it actually feels like a game?

Granted, I'd have wanted way more. Ideally, this stuff would've been present at launch (and even then, this at a minimum). The fact that it took two years and this is the best we have is... well...

Honestly, it's a bit disappointing. But I still have to commend the people who worked hard on this game long after its launch, throwing out an almost unprecedented amount of free updates. It may not be the best Battlefront in my eyes, but clearly a lot of love went into it (and, sadly, probably quite a bit of crunch).

It's a beautiful game, and each update got us tiny steps closer to greatness. Sad to see that we'll never get the large, open offline content that I had wanted, but I've gotta say that the game is leagues better than it was at launch for offline players.
