'Babyoda' General Discussion

I believe that the origins of Baby Yoda will be revealed next season simply because they can’t drag it out for another season or can they?... still don’t know who Eleven from stranger things is.... that was dragged out for how many seasons?

 

That is the old EU rearing its head to a large degree mixed with the nostalgia delivery system fan's relentless desire to shrink the universe to the scope of a soap opera set in a tiny town where every character is related or even a copy of another.

 

I firmly hope not.
We spent the entire OT knowing basically nothing about Yoda's story and specifics, then came the PT who did not tell us more (apart Yoda is able to handle a lightsaber and block sith lightning with his crude hand palm), then came the ST where nothing new has been revealed.
42 years after the first movie, Yoda's specie still don't get a name nor a home planet, and we basically only know 3 beings of it: Yaddle, Yoda and BabyYo. Note that 2 out of 3 do not even a say a single word!

And I do think that's perfect.
We absolutely DO NOT miss any kind of revelation about Yoda's specie nor homeworld nor anything else. It would break the mystery, and mystery is often much more powerful than truth. Yoda, and its owns, are truly apart in this universe.

 

Not to contradict too harshly, but I firmly believe season 2 will be more about Din Djarin's transition to a father figure and the state if the Mandolorian post-revolution than we will about Baby Yoda. That said, I hope you are right and I am wrong!

And call it a hunch, but I think we'll learn more about Cara Dune's motivation/history more than Baby Yoda's. We'll get BY's new name maybe (at some point Din is going to give the guy a name). I can even see a trip to Dagobah in one episode, (why not we've already been to Tatooine). It could be learned the last of his kind lived on Dagobah.

Also that's another prediction of mine, we may not learn the origin/home world of this creature, but we could learn this creature is the very last of its kind. Another reason the creature is so valuable and cloning him was of interest to the Empire.

 

It could be that the last of the Yoda species has been scattered through out the Galaxies to go far far under the Radar. Palpt went out of the way destroy any and every Jedi in existence. Going native in every swamp land they find, the surviving Yoda Species could hide amid all the real creatures living there. How many shades of green are there? Hundreds? Thousands?

 

Who's betting Din will name Baby Yoda Minch?

 

Just want to say that I loved the way the kid’s force abilities are revealed.

Particularly the first one with him copying Mando’s gesturing to move the carriage out of harm’s way. Does the kid think he has the same powers as Mando or vice versa?

I know people are speculating that the kid surely had time in his 50 infant years so far to learn or be taught, but it seemed more to me like instinct and mimicry that was going on there.

 

I don't think he has been taught. In the Clone Wars, we've seen children being naturally gifted in the force.

 

Am I the only one that still doesn't buy that it's a 50 years old toddler?
Can you imagine exchanging nappies for more than 50 years?

Can we at least get a name for the species? That won't kill the mystery that much.

I cant start a Thread, so I wmhave to ask it here. Anybody knows what happend to the "The Child Animatronic" from Hasbro?
Is it Delayed or sold out. I Preordered it at the Big A, but never ever heard anything about it again.
Did anyone has it?

 

I don’t think it’s supposed to be released until December, after Mando Season 2 has come out.

Wouldn't it be great if he starts saying just a few words in S2?

I have a headcanon where he calls Mando "dada" and he calls Cara Dune "mama," and she's like "I'm not your mother." But then at some point she has to save his life and she says "Mama's here."
