Beverly Hills, that's where I want to be.

 

I'm a HUGE fan of the Blue Album, it came out my Freshman year in HS and I can remember few albums that were as big as that one was at the time. Nor can I think of that many albums from the decade that had no filler and every song was great. Like just about everybody at the time (though few will admit it), I was disappointed with Pinkerton. I still don't understand the hype it has achieved since. It's a good album but I think the fact it took people time to come around to it has kind of inflated Pinkerton's status. It was unnecessarily trashed by critics when it came out and then after they got over their initial outrage they started unnecessarily fawning over it. Every album after that has been just OK for me. They'll have 2-3 good to great songs and the rest do nothing for me. But the Blue Album will probably always be one of my desert island discs. My favorite song is In The Garage. I was in a band in HS, we were mainly a Nirvana cover band but we had some other bands in our repertoire (Pearl Jam, Offspring, Bush, etc) and several songs from the Blue Album. Though like Nirvana they were fond of some alternate/flat tunings and were hard to figure out in a time where there weren't a lot of guitar resources on the internet and you mainly had to learn by ear or by watching videos/performances. OLGA was around but as years went on I discovered that just about every song I learned from OLGA tabs was completely wrong.

I got heavily into pinkerton in 2000 and I can never get sick of it. Blue album is good too, saw that tour when they opened for live. They haven't released anything I don't like but those are the immortal classics
