I actually loved sgu. It was just getting interesting when they cancelled it. But that’s just my opinion. The characters seemed more real and defined naturally. But I like long stories, not just single episode’s that can stand alone. But sg1 and Atlantis were both great too.

Agreed SG1 and Atlantis pretty much ran their course and I watched them both religiously, and when Universe began, I loved it because it was just different...and I was TOTALLY bummed when it got cancelled...and it shouldn't have been!

Well there you go and prove that there’s always a way that total strangers can find common ground @Trevor it was very special that an actor/ess that was a true fan could play a part in a tv show that they loved (trying to be as proper as we all should be) That’s what totally bums me out the most. I stopped watching scyfy/ space channels after they cancelled sgu. Haven’t liked anything on their stations since.

The show had a really solid cast and a great premise, but the show really jumped the shark in Season 3 and never came back. Later seasons had some great ideas with the best ones being found in late Season 4 and early Season 5, but all of their ideas were half-formed and rarely followed-through at best, and disappointingly executed and convoluted at worst.

I would have liked to see the show focus on the setting than the family drama towards the end of Season 2. Explore how one melds the modern and the magical. The idea of the fairytale folk struggling with their identity was one that was ripe for drama and character moments, but they didn't really deal with it. Bring new people into the town and show how they deal with those circumstances. Or better yet, have those new people's lives take on storybook characteristics, and show how they adapt to that. What happens when the young girl who runs away from her family and can only find a job as a house cleaner/maid falls in love with the rich kid during a beautillion ball.? How cool would it be if Red found out that the Three Pigs was the name of a serial killer whose identity was down to three people, and in her arc to become a Sheriff, and cementing her identity as an honorary sister to Charming, is finding out the identities of the killers in a reversal of her normal origin story? (...or is this the plotline in The Wolf Among Us? I honestly can't remember...)

Or have a definite ending for the show, and plan a sequel with a magical school. ...or a Descendants-style thing...that's cool I guess.

...that being said, I'd love to see an arc where the characters had to deal with their progeny from a Descendants-esque future. How would Charming and Snow deal with their kid being a pretentious jerk in a way that neither of them really were? Or have a pre-redeemed Regina deal with her daughter trying to be a good guy. Heck, if it this happened early enough in the show it could go a long way in mending Regina's own relationship with her mother and her relationship with Snow - Catharsis through becoming is a true thing and can be a very powerful tool if used correctly.
And now that Star Wars is in the Disney family...oh, there are some fun things that could be done with that.

So...yeah. Once Upon a Time. Great potential, some solid character moments, and an overall engaging hook, but it needs a little more refinement in the plotting aspect.

Not everyone’s first choice I guess, but I’d have liked to have seen a good* revival or continuation of stories in the Babylon 5 universe.
Their overall storytelling and the multiple interweaving narratives was great, even if some of the sets, CGI and (dare I say it) acting was a bit shonky.
A decent budget, contemporary FX (akin to Mando style filming) and new stories would be more than welcome.

(* I say ‘good’ as legacy attempts like Legend of the Rangers was god-awful!)

I'd like to see "Dark Matter" come back, for at least one more season or mini-series.

I'd never even heard of it this time last year, but during the early weeks of the pandemic I binged all three seasons on Prime. It was cheesy and corny, and at times I laughed AT it and not WITH it, but I loved it. Despite not being so keen on the direction it was going in towards the end of the third season, I'd still like to see it completed. Amazon saved Killjoys and The Expense, and although it's doubtful now, I still hope they do the same for Dark Matter.

Also, am I the only person who felt much of the show seemed reverse engineered from Red Dwarf?

    Revive?

Firefly for sure. Not fair that this show stopped in the first season.

So between classes, projects, and re-watching WandaVision with a friend halfway across the world, I may have come up with a more thematically-fleshed out arc on how this would start and end.

I see this taking place as people are coming into town and just in time for elections. Snow/Mary is running for election against Regina (and a wild-card newcomer maybe?)
Snow and Charming would start at first with them not realizing their moral myopia. Their son being a jerk is more important to them than the fact that he's a Knight Templar kind of person. But as more and more incidents happen, they realize that their own views Good and Evil have shaped their son into someone who doesn't understand how Evil can form or how to be empathetic towards others. Justice without empathy, understanding, mercy at times, and ultimately the capacity to allow change within oneself as well as the culture one must be just in, is no kinder than tyranny. Ultimately the two realize that their own views have poisoned their son, but they can't stop him because he's their son.

Their final climax would be this son trying to drain Regina of her power - and ultimately kill her - because he believes that she is evil and cannot be redeemed, and her power should be better used to fighting someone like Rumple. Henry would stand in this man's way to defend his mother because she's just that - his mother. Henry loves her even if she is evil, but he also believes she has the capacity for good. But no one can stop the Son - Snow and Charming can't because he's their son, Regina can't because doing so would probably kill him and reignite the feuds that have been plaguing Regina & Snow's family for generations while also refuting that potential for good that Henry just mentioned. Sadly, it turns to Emma to strike down and stop her own brother.

During the arrival of these Future Past characters, Emma would be feeling guilt over her new family and connections. Between the sibling rivalry with her new brother, her own motherhood issues with Henry (and the trials of co-parenting with your literal archenemy), her discomfort at everything going just so well in her life ("when is the other shoe going to drop?"), and another, soon to be explored guilt, Emma would be retreating into herself and into her work. This would drive a wedge between herself and her family. It would be revealed over the course of the season that Emma once had a foster family that loved her and that she cared for, but one she ultimately feels like she destroyed when she ran away. Towards the end of this arc, Emma takes it upon herself to stop her brother, but the act leaves her broken and ashamed. She leaves town for a bit to find her foster mother and apologize. (This would lead into some Frozen connections that OUAT almost realized well but ultimately couldn't.)

Because of the drama, Snow/Mary would try withdraw from the election, only to come to find out that she actually won. (A later arc would have her deal with the fact that she likes being Mayor and is good at it, but should honor her previous statement. The addiction of power, if you will. Snow/Mary didn't really have to deal with that before since she was only a queen for two years at most. Now, with proof that she can be a good modern leader, she must learn to let go and not let Snow take over Mary's life.)
I see Charming/David ultimately disappearing and returning back to his life as a farmer until he's brought out of retirement, or he's becomes one of Arthur's knights in Camelot as a way to atone for his perceived failure with his son. ...or maybe Arthur's story takes place in the previous arc and he's the wild-card in this version. Although at this time I see him as someone who would run because he feels it's his right to rule as opposed to being elected to help the people. But it'd be played as a laugh. I'm not sure how I'd like that at this time.

Regina would, on the other hand, be dealing with her goody-two-shoes daughter. Through their interactions, Regina would ultimately come to realize that not all of her actions are entirely justified by her past. Regina's daughter is good because she wants to be good. And at the end, where did that leave those who turned to evil? Regina's mother was ultimately betrayed; Rumple burned all his bridges but one and even that one is on borrowed time; and Regina herself has no real positive relationships with the people around her. Evil is isolating. By the end of the season, Regina would start her road to redemption by being the one to comfort Snow/Mary (genuinely this time) and step down from her role as Mayor to do so, signifying an end to her "Evil Queen" identity. Her daughter would also refuse to go back to her future, preferring to stay in this new past and becoming a part of the roster for a time.

Another potential arc I'd put into place.
Emma would have to search out a Genie with the help of Aladdin, Jasmine, and their Genie in order to make an important wish. Before asking the wish, Emma would receive visions of alternate paths her life could have taken. One of these - the core moment in this arc - would focus on a ball. Emma would have her hair done by her mother, be walked to the dance by her brother, talk to whoever her lover at the time is, and ultimately dance with her father. This would juxtaposed or maybe foreshadowed by a younger, teenage Emma doing her own hair and imagining how it would be like.

If the season begins with that memory of young Emma doing all of her own things, we get that beautillion ball in the beginning and later a debutante ball for Regina's daughter at the end of the season, I can totally see this working. At the beautillion ball Emma would refuse to dance since she's still closed off a little and can't take time to enjoy the moment; but by the end, she's letting Snow do her hair and enjoying the moment, no matter how short it is.
The dresses worn could also symbolize the change in moral alignment for Regina.

Okay, I have parts of a season coming together, with cheesy arc names too!
Arc 1 - Supernova (newcomers move into Storybrooke)
Arc 2 - A Twinkle In Our Eyes (children from the future come to the past in order to change their fates)
Arc 3 - Wish Upon A Star (Emma must reconcile her past with her present in order to make a new future)

The theme of the season is that what we gain from our parents/the previous generation are lessons and tools. They can tell us how sharp these tools are by using them on us or others, and they can demonstrate how to use these tools, but it's up to us to use them as we deem appropriate.

It is?! I've always wanted to check it out. Now I can!

Patriot, one of the best shows I've ever watched. Why Amazon cancelled it after just two seasons is beyond me.

To any who hasn't watched it, you're missing out!

both solid choices... Farscape had the potential to go virtually anywhere and definitely some of the most outlandish and creative sci fi concepts I’ve seen on screen.

Buck is seriously overdue a reboot too - even though NOTHING (for me) will ever top Erin Gray and those Thunderfighters.
Just keep the Hawk nonsense out of it! :D
