Diablo IV announced in Blizzcon. The promos make it darker and more biblical and demonic than D3 and overall closer to the iconic D2. Meanwhile playing cat ninja pro.. sometimes.

Still not finished Jedi Fallen Order as my daughter is only with me every other weekend, so it's taking some time... decided to replay Final Fantasy VII in between - still classic after 23yrs and easily one of my all time favourites.

I'm going through all the Assassins Creed games, currently playing 2. I've only played each of them once as they came out, so I'm excited to revisit them and see how the series has changed over the years.

I played a little Star Wars Battlefront II on my 39th birthday today. It has amazingly good graphics. The frustrating part is that you can't choose the planet that you want to fight on and aiming the blaster at a moving enemy is a real booger too.

It's a great time to catch up on some gaming (silver linings!). I've been playing:
    - Battlefront II (This just keeps getting better and better...)
    - Spiderman (Just got this on the weekend. Pretty fun single player RPG)
    - Minecraft (Never gets old)

Well, I am on quarantine and I have so much free time, due to it I play various online games. I and my friends often play Dota 2 and Call of Duty, but sometimes I love to play flash games like Little Alchemy 2 and Tank Trouble 2.

I hope this COVID-19 ends soon, I really do hope.

Battlefront 2 and Republic Commando. And Warframe. If you have not not heard of Warframe look it up. It’s free on PC, Xbox, and Switch. :)

    Pokémon Sword

As a kid I wasn't allowed to play Pokémon. This is my first Pokémon game.

    Worth the wait.

If you have a DS, after finishing Sword you should go back and find Pokemon Heart Gold or Soul Silver. Those are considered among the best of the best. They solidify the gameplay for future generations, have everything the originals did and more, and are just great games. I HIGHLY recommend them.

During these turbulent times I FINALLY beat Horizon Zero Dawn, and I can boldly say that it's easily one of the best PS4 games I've played. I can't wait for the sequel.

    Now it's:

    upload_2020-4-15_4-47-3.jpeg

Currently I'm roughly 90 hours into Persona 5 Royal and roughly 5 in-game days away from the Final Boss in the new dungeon and new semester...and I have yet to complete the Empress, Hermit, and Faith (my romance pick) social links! I'm stressing out and I love it so much. I probably won't do NG+ because my Compendium is over 75% complete and I've already fused the strongest monster in the game; and other than those three (soon to be two) social links, I don't see much of a point to replaying this game.

Which brings me into my critiques. Gameplay-wise, Persona 5 Royal brings some much needed change to Persona 5's stuff. No longer do you have to go straight to bed after visiting Mementos or a Palace - you can now do stuff in Leblanc such as make coffee, build some tools, read a book, and eventually make curry. And that's WITHOUT maxing out the Temperance social link. It's great. Akechi's social link is more like a normal one as well, so that's fun (if not frustrating since there are already a thousand and one things to do at night). Kichijoji's fine, and I really like Maruki.

But this game's main star is Kasumi, and I feel very, VERY conflicted about her. As a character, I really enjoy Kasumi. She's a fun, bright character who shines just as bright as your other companions and it's great. She fits right into this cast. Her backstory, while a tad predictable, is still very compelling and interesting to go through.

My main problem is that it feels like this game ships Joker and Kasumi together very, VERY, hard. And on one hand, I like Joker and Kasumi together. They make a cute couple. On the other hand I usually dislike when games tell me who to romance when there isn't a canonical choice (screw your support ranks with Sumia, Chrom! You're going to pair with Olivia and YOU'RE GOING TO LIKE IT), and that's what this game does. It no longer feels balanced, like you could have romanced any other option and it would make sense canonically (Ann because of the Lovers Arcana and she's the first girl, and the Lovers Arcana canonically having crushes on the main character; Makoto being the fan-favorite and the Priestess Arcana canonically having crushes on the main characters; Haru because her crush was so blatant, Takemi because she's awesome). This game pushes Kasumi onto you and it honestly makes me want to replay it less because of that (shipping is a very real reason to replay games after all).

Overall for Kasumi, while I like her, I don't think she's justified being a character in Persona 5 Royal. I understand WHY she's here, especially since it relates to the new story-line and extra semester, but I can't fully justify it either. She would have worked just as well in Persona 6, if not better, because she wouldn't have been isolated from the main cast in order to keep the elements of surprise she holds (and the aspect of the "true self/spirit of rebellion" doesn't really jive with her character in the same vein it does others).

And lastly is the new story-line and extra semester. At times I feel like this could have been a DLC, while certain, other spoiler aspects make me wonder why this wasn't in the original game to begin with instead of the Final Boss we received. Both make sense - there are aspects of this final story-line that needed the previous Final Boss events to happen, but I also feel like this didn't need to be the Final Boss in the first place. Sorry for being vague and confusing, but this is really hard to explain without spoilers! And then there is one major thing about this extra story-line that feel like fan-service at the moment. It's not bad at all, but it also doesn't feel entirely necessary...again, spoilers...

So where do I stand with this game? Honestly if I was to recommend a Persona game for a new player, it'd be P5R. It's fun, the mechanics are updated, the story has only gotten better for the most part, and it still carries over everything that made Persona 5 the phenomenal game it is. And yet...I can't see myself going back to this once I complete it. Not really. I might do some stuff so that I can beat the game with a romanced Haru (since my save file with her romanced is so close to the endgame as well it wouldn't take more than a few hours), but after that, a big part of me would rather just go back to the original game than play this one again. And that's a weird feeling.

So earlier today I finished Persona 5 Royal in its entirety. It was phenomenal. By the end most of my complaints from yesterday were addressed, and while my feelings still stand to a degree, by the time the credits rolled I realized they paled in comparison to my feelings about these characters and this game as a whole. That being said, I still think I want a blend of the two versions of Persona 5. But for now, I think I'll just rest (and actually focus on my homework and other stuff). Spending nearly 94 hours in a little over two weeks is INSANE yo!

So what's next on my list? I have a slight hankering for Fire Emblem, so maybe I'll play a little of Awakening and romance Panne this time around (and I still need to complete my Three Houses NG+ Golden Deer run with the new DLC characters). Or maybe I'll try to finish Pokemon Shield before the DLC comes out. Or maybe I'll play the Nathan Drake Collection I have sitting around...or maybe I'll read a book! It feels like all the books I've read for the past month or so have been for grad school, so maybe reading for my own enjoyment will be nice.

I've been playing Star Wars Battlefront 2 (EA) for a long time. Now I am trying to get into Red Dead 2 Online (PC version). Its kinda hard starting a new game when you don't know what your doing but since we're all in quarantine, I have the time to learn!

Finished Pokemon Shield's main story and the post-game last week. Overall, it was...good. I liked the gym leaders and the gym representation. The Wild Area was fun, as were max raid battles. And the new Pokemon and Galarian forms were all really interesting! The rivals aren't too bad either!

But every good is balanced by a bad:

Hop, the main rival, gets most of his development in the post-game story. A post-game story that's incredibly weak and probably should have been the MAIN story instead of what we got.
Bede, another rival in the vein of Jerk Rivals of games past, becomes a gym leader halfway through the game. He's chosen as the successor to a gym leader who wants nothing more than to retire. On one hand, Opal's AWESOME and seeing our rivals grow is really nice to see. On the other hand, I LIKED beating Bede and crushing his arrogance. Beating your happy-go-lucky rival isn't exciting nor is it fun after the second battle. Beating a jerk ALWAYS is.
Marnie is fine. I liked her character. Heck, SHE should have been the main rival instead of Hop. But the game doesn't think so, and even foregoes Marnie in favor of her older brother for the post-game (a storyline that works well for what they need, but Marnie should have still been present).

The gym leaders were cool, and the gym challenges were nice, but the overall stadium approach didn't work for every city. For example, there's this quiet city in a forest that's hard to reach. And yet, their stadium still looks like the bustling city stadiums, and that's a small but important problem.

Team Yell weren't antagonists, they were annoyances. The Big Bad isn't even THAT bad. Had they literally waited ONE SINGLE DAY all of their problems could have been solved without threatening anything.

The routes lasted less than 10 minutes each. Take out the trainer battles and you cut that time in half. It was really, really insulting.

And the Wild Area removed most of the biodiversity of the region. Places like the Wild Area and the Safari Zone are supposed to supplement the diversity of the region, not supplant it.

Overall, this game is a field trip, not an adventure. It's too connected, too shallow in its emotions and themes, and too safe to be an adventure. That doesn't make this a bad game. I genuinely had fun at points, and there were tense battles and exciting events (...okay, one exciting event...). But in terms of the main generation games and not reboots or remakes or remixes, Sword and Shield are by far the weakest. Pokemon played it safe as a franchise when other Nintendo tentpole series such as Mario, Legend of Zelda, and Fire Emblem came out swinging. It's a little sad to see, and even sadder that it took me months to beat a game that really only needs a week and a half at most. Pokemon has the power to be a great, fun game. But to do so they really need to up their standards.

Will I buy the next Pokemon game? Probably, but probably not Day 1. Unless Pokemon makes some big changes, it's moving to be a series that "I'll get to when I get to."

On a slightly better note, I'm finishing up my Three Houses GD NG+ playthrough. Just beat The Battle of Gronder Field. It hits me so hard every time. Hilda is hilariously useless this playthrough too, since I spent all of my time forcing her to learn Bolting. Now all of her other stats are screwed. It's fine though. I'm using some of the DLC characters to make up for it, and Seteth is coming to my rescue (in the 200+ hours I've played, I actually never used him that much. But this playthrough he's one of my MVP's).
Hopefully I'll finish this up by next week, and in a week or so after that move onto my BL NG+ playthrough.

Just got the platinum for The Order 1886, got the game super cheap and I really don't get the dislike for it, super game with mechanics taken from some of my favourites, just wish it was a few hours longer.

Been playing the division and enjoying it but will probably delete once I finish the main story, then I'm gonna platinum farcry 5 and farcry 3 classic; the original was one of my favourite on the ps3.

I also got metro redux from the PS sale and plan on beating both games as I've heard great things about them, especially 2033.
