I loved Rogue One and Solo was good. I don't have intention to skip any SW movie, as I said a million times in this forum, Disney/LFL are doing a great job so far.

I would probably be more inclined to skip Disney's serial SW movies than their anthology films? I really enjoyed "Rogue One" and "Solo".

No way. Rogue One is my favourite SW film and I love Solo almost as much. They are as good as it gets for me.

I was going to skip the main saga films and stick to the anthology movies, since the latter seems to be where the studio exercises the most creativity with the Star Wars universe.

But with the upcoming hiatus announced, and the release schedule for SW films eliminating any room for standalone film releases, it would seem that the anthology movies are dead in the water.

It's not a question of skipping. I just would like a streamlined narrative and not want to be obliged to buy supplementary material to know what the Blast is going on. If there is an anthology film and it has been written well (i.e. not for cynical reasons such as to exploit nostalgia) I will watch it.

Just curious, do you think that Rogue One and Solo have been non-supplementary? That they've been tied to the saga films as necessary pieces for understanding what's going on?

Perhaps I worded it incorrectly. I see both as films that can be enjoyed independently on their own rights and it is not obligatory to watch them to understand the narrative.

Consider it like a game. Some game developers give produce a complete game with additional story-lines available in DLC to enrich the setting. However, if you do not buy said DLC, your experience of the core game will be by and large unaffected. In a similar way, a person who does not watch Rogue One or Solo will still be able to understand and appreciate the core Star Wars saga.

Some game developers of the less scrupulous sort produce half a game or deliberately introduce gaps or flaws in the game which means additional purchases in the form of downloadable content are needed to have a more complete experience (and a considerably lighter wallet). It is this practice I have a problem with.

Depends on how anthology movies are used. On one hand, they can tell stories from the universe someone was dying to produce and show the world. On the other hand, they can feel like a simple-minded cash grab. If they are done correctly, I will see them. If not, I could find myself skipping them. But I haven't missed a film since TFA, so I'm not skipping a film anytime soon.

Generally speaking, I wouldn't skip any Star Wars movie. However it depends how it's made. I liked a lot Rogue One and I appreciated Solo. If there is a new Anthology movie, I would like it to be set prior TPM or after TROS. Because there are too many movies and series set between prequel and original trilogy.

I will skip the sequel trilogy (can't stand it) and leave the victory at the end of the OT as the send off it deserves.
The Anthology films Rogue One (love it) and Solo (it's ok) will be in my watching universe :D

No, they are an integrad Part of the Star Wars-Experience as a whole.

    Are they absolutely needed? No.
Are they a good Expansion of the Star Wars Universe? Imho, yes.
