I haven't seen any of the scripts so I can't speak intelligently about how tight they are/were or what not. But the idea is pretty cool. And by doing the scripts as is, you save time and money. You avoid the debacle/embarrassment associated with announcing Obi Wan scripts complete (why oh why would they do that????) and you please the fans who would love to see what George had cooked up.

As for reworking the scripts, you do that anyway as you shoot, so that would naturally happen anyway. Have Dave Filoni act as show runner for it (Jon F could lend assistance if or when it is needed).

I really don't know what you mean by it feeling like Legends, so I will ask for clarification on that.

I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on season 1. They were probably up against some pretty strict deadlines to get the season in the can in time for the Disney+ launch and threw in some filler episodes. Considering the sheer number of characters they’ll have to squeeze into season 2, hopefully that will be all killer, no filler.

I mean, you’re not wrong. Kinda felt like a super expense YouTube fan film...and don’t even get me started on Toro Calican. Or as I like to call him, douchy-frat-bro-cosplaying-as-Han-Solo. I felt like he was gonna roofy me through the screen :p

It's kinda hard to explain, so apologies if this doesn't make sense...

But to me, some Star Wars feels timeless, and some feels more specifically rooted in the time that it was released.

For instance, ESB feels timeless to me. Obviously its effects aren't modern and the Rebellion has a few more mustaches than we'd likely see today, but it otherwise feels like it could've almost been filmed any time between 1977 and the late 2010s. Rogue One is kind of a testament to that.

Compare that to everything in the Shadow of the Empire event, where everything feels so overwhelmingly nineties. You've got the Ninja Turtles sewer thing, the Cool Guys on Motorcycles chase, the silent and snappier protagonist of Dash Rendar, the horribly executed attempt at making Leia seem more feminist through a lens that was honestly more sexist than ever... everything had just a little more edge, because it came from the era of Venom, Shadow the Hedghog, and the Knightfall storyline in Batman.

And I find a lot of Legends tends to have difficulty managing the timeless feeling of the movies (and some of the new canon does, too). It seems like the emphasis was often on appealing to trends, rather than worldbuilding in the Star Wars universe. Later films aren't entirely innocent of this, either- there are moments in the prequels that radiate awkward early 2000s energy, and the sky beam in Rise of Skywalker is so late 2010s that it hurts.

I guess I feel like lifting anything directly out of Legends is risky because of that, and a 22 episodes 40 minute TV show action/drama (not sure if length or number of episodes is confirmed, but it's kinda standard for that time) written a decade ago just feels risky. Like, that's from the time that Lost was just wrapping up having really shaped the idea of television, and right as Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead started up to further reinvent what TV means to people, not to mention the dawn of streaming services and binge culture.

So I dunno, the whole thing would feel to me like a throwback to 10-20 years ago. Which isn't necessarily bad, by any means. But oh boy is it risky, and I'm not sure the salary of some screenwriters would justify the risk of throwing all the rest of the resources needed in for its production. Far better if they could take the basic ideas (credit the writers and hopefully bring them back on), update the lore to fit canon, and condense it into a tighter store of ten or fewer episodes.

So much in the future of SW can expand because of Disney+ and the opportunities to revive some legends! We got the Mandolorian and Resistance! What else??? I don’t have a clue, do you?

Is The Mandolorian a series or a mini series? With so few episodes I'm not sure where it fits. So many series these days are very short compared to the traditional 22-24 episode series. I'm hoping for more live action everything.

I think it's a series, given how multiple seasons are planned and in development.

I've always seen a "mini-series" as an intentionally one season event.

Not at all. Just check other forums and threads that sound similar, because they probably share the same premise or purpose. Read the OP, check the flow of conversation, and Bob's your uncle.

What I want to see on Disney+, for Star Wars content:
    Well, for starters:

-The Star Wars Underworld show, already-scripted (the ones not already used for Mandalorian and Solo movie) and credit George Lucas.
    -a Dr. Aphra live-action show.
-an animated kids show (same style as Rebels) about Luke’s Academy and a young Kylo Ren
    - tv show about Jedi in their heydey (Old Republic, High Republic, whatever.)
    - Obi Wan tv show (we’re getting that already, thank you Disney+).
-a live action show centering on kids. (Not a game show like Jedi Temple Challenge, but an actual show, same tone as Phantom Menace. There needs to be more emphasis on kids in SW.)
    -a Han Solo/Qu’ira tv show.

Fair point, I suppose. We suppose that the Underworld part of it would take place in Coruscant, correct?

-an animated kids show (same style as Rebels) about Luke’s Academy and a young Kylo Ren

Maybe. I will be honest here. Even looking back to the 2-D animated The Clone Wars, I noticed that Vader's story (foreshadowing to his descent to the dark side) has been done in that show and in the 3-D animated Clone Wars and in the PT films. To be honest, it may have well been foreshadowed/done (Anakin doing something evil in each of the PT films- young Anakin being afraid in TPM, Anakin destroying the sand people/wanting to force people in the Senate to reach a consensus in AOTC, and Anakin finally deciding to go dark for his wife in ROTS). The more I've looked at this, the more it's become ridiculous. It seems like in each animated series/film, it is obligated to make Anakin dark in some way, and it is contradicted sometimes.

It would probably be better to go off with how Obi-wan said it in ANH, accept the retcon of Vader being Luke's father in TESB, and then move on with it.

Wanting a kids show is squeezing more information than what's necessary out of the films. Can't the films tell their own story? I mean all this extraneous material (books, comics, animated shows) is fine for the most part, but there comes a point in time where it is conveniently disposed of out of ignorance and then promptly forgotten. One of the libraries that I go to, still has EU books on the Jacen (legacy) arc in the novels, but there's not much use to the re-use of Vaapad from Matthew Stover's Mace Windu book or Jacen's machinations than a recorded time stamp. And what do the politics of a post-Empire have to do with the original conflict of rising against a tyrannical evil empire?

    - tv show about Jedi in their heydey (Old Republic, High Republic, whatever.)

That's fine, too. Although we would probably get a depiction of Jedi, inevitably, in sand-robes, since that is a key depiction of Jedi in the Old Republic games, despite that being determined by certain staff members on the set of TPM, and having no basis in the OT, other than Obi-wan wearing said robes. Unless Disney was willing to do a different depiction- maybe of the knights templar-esque Jedi or Samurai-esque, I don't know what a Jedi actually looks like.

-a live action show centering on kids. (Not a game show like Jedi Temple Challenge, but an actual show, same tone as Phantom Menace. There needs to be more emphasis on kids in SW.)

If it was live action, okay. Does that mean a show on the Jedi Younglings, then?

    -a Han Solo/Qu’ira tv show.

Could be interesting. If anything, it would be fascinating if they could deep-dive into Han's dad; in both the EU and in the Solo film, they barely mention him, but in TESB, there was going to be a scene where Han reconciled with his father. I think it would have given him some fascinating context to the character.

Even though it's probably already been mentioned here, I'd love to see a Live Action KOTOR/The Old Republic Disney+ series. Though, It's something that I hope continues to keep its original content, and not change too much about this timeline that we know of. Seeing something different, something before TPM way before this, would be interesting.

Especially the Sith Empire vs Galactic Republic. One character I'd love to see featured is Nihilus, his story is interesting, and I think he could be well done with the right writers.

I just want more good storytelling, whatever format it takes place in.

Personally, I just want to see the following and then Lucasfilm can go wild and make whatever they want.
    • The sequel treatments to Solo adapted into a series. #makesolo2happen
    • A Crimson Dawn or Maul show.
    • The Rebels sequel with all of those cast members returning.
    • An animated show about Luke, Han, Leia, and the OT gang in the earlier years following ROTJ, similar to TCW and Rebels.
    • A show about an older Luke and/or Ben Solo leading to their downfalls.
    • Maybe a live action show setting up the Resistance/First Order/New Republic conflict?
    • An animated show about Rey and friends, again similar to TCW and Rebels.
    • Maybe release some more of the unfinished Clone Wars episodes as little animated movies. It could be something like Dark Disciple: A Clone Wars Story.
