I don't have a preferred order. I'm watching in Mood order. Just picking the order I feel like in that moment.
Yoda Order i should probably prefer. Which would probably be 789123456.
Maybe recursive yoda order I should try 978312645

I think it doesn't matter as long as there is a coherent narrative. My little nephews are already a die hard Star Wars fans and they haven't even heard about Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker yet.

I've seen these babies already more than 10 times (except for the Disney movies because they are newer). I allways stick to the chronological order. It's impossible for me to get spoiled after so many viewings so why would I need the release order? One thing about R1 and Solo: They both are set between PT and OT. Solo is chronologically before R1. But in the beginning of R1 Jyn Erso is only a girl. I wonder if this time period is actually before the events in Solo. Does anyone know the time lapse between the two spin-offs? Perhaps I could first watch R1 beginning and then switch to Solo before watching the rest of R1.

The opening of Rogue One is 15 years before the events of A New Hope and (if my maths are correct) the opening of Solo is roughly 13 years before, based on Chewie’s age when Han meets him.

    So yeah, chronologically it’s goes:

Rogue One opening scene (15 BBY)
    Solo (13-10 BBY)
The Rest of Rogue One (0 BBY)

If we're including the Story films, chronological order for the movies is as follows:
    The Phantom Menace
    Attack of the Clones
    Revenge of the Sith
    Solo
    Rogue One
    A New Hope
    The Empire Strikes Back
    Return of the Jedi
    The Force Awakens
    The Last Jedi
    The Rise of Skywalker

Yes, both Solo and Rogue One have Prologue elements that are set earlier on the timeline, but chronological ordering is determined by when the bulk of their respective stories take place.

    Almost.

Rogue One prelude = 13 BBY
Solo: A Star Wars Story prelude = 13 BBY
Solo: ASWS main story = 10 BBY
Rogue One main story = 0 BBY

I initially thought that it was 13 years, but then wiki says 15? Is there an official source on it?

Interesting. Wookiepedia says 13 BBY... perhaps that's not right?

Wookiepedia do place the Rogue One prelude before the Solo:ASWS prelude in that year, however (although that might be just coincidence).

To be fair, it seems super unclear canon-wise. And you’re right, I’ve definitely seen 13 years referenced as the time jump in multiple places on wookiepedia!

However, in the scene were Jyn meets Cassian for the first time...

    Cassian Andor
: When was the last time you were in contact with your father?

Jyn Erso : 15 years ago.

They could have later decided 13 years fits the canon timeline better and wrote it off as Jyn lying because she doesn’t trust them yet, who knows!

If someone's lived under a rock and knows nothing I think the 456, 123, 789, has the most impact for one particular scene, but understanding the fall of the Jedi and the Republic and the birth of the Galactic Empire under Palpatine is very important. 1, 2, 3, gives more meaning to Return of the Jedi and Anakin's "redemption". In my opinion it doesn't have to be experienced like it was released. In 2020 most people know Darth Vader is Luke's father even if they haven't watched the saga, if you are just trying to keep that one part a secret, they don't have to experience it the way you might have to enjoy it. Someone who hasn't seen it will still view it as a story, a story where the character doesn't know, meaning Luke's character not knowing is really all that matters. The only thing missing is that surprise element, where ironically can lead people to watching 1, 2, 3, thinking I already know what happens anyways for three whole films. I see nothing wrong with watching it from 1-9. For me personally re-watching the saga the 1, 2, 3, Rogue One, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, is my preferred order. Rogue One is one of the best Star Wars films, you would have already seen Vader from 3 anyways, his appearance in Rogue One doesn't ruin anything and actually adds more weight to A New Hope. Nothing wrong with Solo, just don't feel it's needed at all for the saga, it actually feels like a separate film not part of the series, fits what I would think of as a Star Wars story. When trying to dissect the order I think it does more damage than good to new people, thinking it's too complicated to bother with, almost feeling forced into something that will take up more thought process than enjoying the movies. My first viewings, I've seen them 5, 4, 6, 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 because Empire was my first Star Wars movie as a child at 6 years old seeing it in the theater. Didn't ruin it for me, made me a fan for life, the order had nothing to do with it.

Again just my opinion, there is no right or wrong way to view it. Kinda like being told your are holding your smartphone wrong, or using swipe vs touch type input is better, voice input has gotten much better to. It's just an preference. May the force be with you.
