    This is kind of interesting.

I was watching Ken Napzok on Jedi Council a few days ago he insinuated the Lucasfilm crew loves Rian Johnson, but they not as fond of JJ Abrams. It probably has something to do with the fact JJ does things by himself. Rian Johnson on the other hand basically set up shop at Lucasfilm.

I love the fact that Rian Johnson really dug into the lore. Not so much for TLJ because his hands were a little tied. I think there's more of a story plan for the sequel trilogy than people believe... but the fact RJ has dug into the lore is good news for the trilogy he's creating.

I wouldn't expect his trilogy to be particularly lore-heave, but it is good that RJ is digging deep into it. It means that whatever he is making is not going to be too disconnected.

I agree . When I first saw the TLJ teaser poster I immediately thought of the father , son and daughter from Mortis just by the way Luke , kylo and Rey were positioned on the poster . Rian sounds like he has a lot of respect for Star Wars lore to be honest as he also watched the prequels a lot in prep for TLJ. I’ve always believed there is a plan for Star Wars as the story group work years ahead . Richard E Grant’s comments the last few days have got me excited that we are gonna see something amazing in episode 9.

Not only watched but included intentional visual callbacks.

I really hope there are connections. I will be first to apologize if Rey experience in cave was WBW stuff.

I see it more as her version of the trials of the temple. She was tested to see which way she would go. A place steeped in the dark side, she turned away from it feeling hopeless, learned her lesson through discussion, and moved past it to find her inner balance even with Ben Solo. It reminded me of Ezra's temple trial on Lothal in Rebels.

    As @Andrew Waples states:
And honestly I've found it an intriguing concept that was introduced within Rebels that opens up a whole new set of questions and possibilities for the Force and how it can be explored.

That said I'm not sure if this is a particular concept RJ is thinking of coming back to, or if that will be Dave Filoni's next big undertaking (aside from Resistance). However it is really cool that RJ is not only aware of this sort of stuff, but actually finds it interesting as well, and it could very well serve for inspiration for whatever magic he's cooking up.

They need to give Filoni a trilogy. Seriously. Even if just what happened to Ashoka, Sabine, Thrawn and Ezra in the Wild Space.

It'd be nice, but as long as he's still making Star Wars media, I'm happy.

It's nice that Filoni is getting direct episodes of The Mandalorian. I love Filoni and he gets the Lucas lore better than most people. One odd thing about some of the complainers of Rian Johnson and The Last Jedi is the idea Filoni should be brought in to run things, but TLJ felt like a Filoni Star Wars film from a lore standpoint.

Honestly, before TROS, I thought the end of the series would conclude when Rey confronted The Son- the physical embodiment of the Dark Side itself. I imagined it would be something like that scene from Legend.

    His hands were tied?

he killed literally 99% of the resistance, all of Snokes bodyguards, destroyed all the resistance equipment, the two FO ships with any chance to effect future stories, destroyed much of the FO fleet from the movie, destroyed the Anakin saber, destroyed the first Jedi temple, took the character of Luke and flushed him down the story toilet and then KILLED LUKE SKYWALKER

What the cuss do you consider a director who didn’t have his hands tied.
I’ve got ten bucks that says RJ turned that freakishly round head of his towards a TV to watch the Mortis Arc was because he thought it would be a Star Wars snuff film type episode, since that’s whT he planned to make.

Yes, The Last Jedi being is middle part of a trilogy with tons of existing characters isn't exactly a fresh point to start a new story. A new story would allow for greater exploration of lore.

I'll ignore the rest of your hate filled rant. Sorry you didn't like Knives Out. It was easily one of the best films of 2019.

I liked Knives Out, for the most part. Seems atypical at first, but actually ends up predictable at the end, with some surprises thrown in. I like it when Rian manages to convince the audience of parts of the plot only to blow their minds later on without going all Inception or Christopher Nolan on the audience, which sometimes goes too far or becomes too convoluted.
