Fan Fic Recommendations

I would like to see a scene of hunter of the lightsaber crystals.

 

I figured I'd throw a shout-out to some of my all time favourite fanfics here.

Julie Horwitz's AU universe where Padmé manages to reach Anakin on Mustafar, without Obi-Wan tagging along, and manage to redeem him - starting with A New Destiny - is really good. We get to see what Anakin would be like if he'd actually been around to be a father to his children, and how the guilt of what he'd done as Darth Vader can still haunt him.

Despite lagging a bit in the middle and wrapping things up a bit too nicely for my liking the absolutely massive beast that is Bad Boys, JEDI Style is worth a look. The premise is essentially that the six original films we know are simply a reality show in the Star Wars universe. It's a really cool concept and it works really well. Plus it pokes fun at a lot of the plot holes we've come to accept from the Star Wars films. How come Young Obi-Wan looks so different from Old Ben, anyways? Well, according to this fic, there's a very good answer to that.

But the absolute cream of the crop is called The Father, and it tells the tale of a grieving Darth Vader who realises that with the cloning technology available to him, he can use Padmé's DNA to have children to love and care for. But it's much more than that. It's an intricately plotted story about a man who's not really sure how to be a father, but tries his best (even though he doesn't always do the best job). There's tons of familiar faces, both from the films and the old EU, and the author clearly put tons of work into making sure his story had a logical progression and everything tightly leads up to a very satisfying conclusion that's reminiscent of the films while still both making sense in this universe and being just plain awesome on its own merits as well.

 

What if Luke was able to bring Darth Vader back?
Let's say after he rescued him from the doomed Death Star 2, when he asks Luke to take off the mask, Luke Says "you'll die" and Vader Says, "nothing can stop that now" There was a theory at one point that suggested that the emperor was basically keeping Vader alive through the use of the force. Well what if Luke was able to keep him alive also at least long enough to get Vader retrofitted with new robotic equipment that would be able to keep him alive. What would his new look be? Would he become a diplomat retaining power over the systems that he once conquered? Would he have been able to re-establish the Jedi along with Luke?

A messianic figure and founder of a new galactic religion that people flock to and wage war in his name. Over time, he becomes more ruthless in his methods. The rise to power of Paul Atreides being a warning by Frank Herbert about society's willingness to give absolute power to a charismatic figure.

Something I've always been interested in as a way of extending the SW story we already knew into something more.

Thanks for the heads up, but what I meant was I can't post "anything" on the fanfiction section, its really frustrating because I already have artwork posted on Fan Art section. Something about "not enough permissions" but I can post anywhere else.

 

Hm... I don't quite understand. (You're posting in the Fan Fiction section now, with these posts here... You posted in the Fanmade Poster thread before, in the Fan Art sub-forum; now you're posting here in the Fan Fic Recommendations thread of the Fan Fic sub-forum).

Do you mean that you were unable to create a new thread specifically for your fan fiction contribution? If so, that's because you have to have 30 posts "under your belt" before you can create new threads (to discourage bot acounts).

 

Yes that's what I meant. I've been here for a while and still unable to create a new thread to introduce my story as I have on other sites. It's frustrating but at least I was able to do something here. Many thanks.
